An excellent experience
Review of Formula 1 Circuit, Spielberg, Austria by
Morgenhund
Advantages: Rural
Disadvantages: Infrastricture still not perfect for the size of the event.
...I lived and worked about three miles from the A1 Ring and the return to the F1 calendar of the Austrian Grand Prix has proved to be a success. Although critics will say that the A1 Ring is a veritable emasculation of the Austroring as it used to be, the setting is one of the most incredible in F1. Nestled in the Aichfeld valley, the rustic charm of the area is a great paradox to the usual glitz and glamour of Formula 1. Possibly only the track at Aida in Japan is more remote. The stars actually do enjoy the rural charms of Styria, and Jordan usually are renowned for having a storming party, proving that it doesn't matter wehre you go, you can still have a party.
Facilities around the track are adequate, and there is stunning scenry making the area a destination for more than just the duration of the Grand Prix Meeting....

Crammond's Latest Masterpiece
Review of Grand Prix 3 (PC) by
TonyF1
Advantages: Astounding physics, involving gameplay, completely updatable
Disadvantages: No safety car yet, and no split screen multiplayer mode.
...It's now been over a month and a half since Geoff Crammond's Grand Prix 3 was released in the UK, and still it remains at the top of the games charts. So is it any good? Veteran PC owners will remember 'Formula One Grand Prix' from 1992; that game, like its 1994 sequel 'Grand Prix 2' also reached the top of the charts. But is Grand Prix 3 selling on merit or reputation?
Recently, F1's Mr Ecclestone has been handing out F1 licenses to anyone who has the money to pay for them. Recent F1 games include EA Sports' F1 2000, Psygnosis' Formula One '99 and Video Systems' Grand Prix World. All these games are playable, and EA Sports' offering looks amazing, but all fail to give the spark of amazement that Grand Prix 2 (and more importantly programmer Geoff Crammond)was renowned for in terms of realism.
In Grand Prix 3, that spark has returned...

Always Hot.
Review of Hungaroring Circuit by
daseaford
Advantages: Great view for spectators.
Disadvantages: Little overtaking.
...The temperature at the Hungaroring circuit for the F1 Grand Prix is always hot. The track is about ten miles from Budapest and is situated in a natural bowl, which always makes a great spectacle for the spectators. The Hungarian Grand Prix is the largest spectator event in Hungary and so it is very important for the country. It is not unusual to see the hierarchy of the F1 organisation bestowed with honours from the country to help ensure the Grand Prix race returns each year.
This circuit does not produce the best racing of the year as the circuit is very slow and there is little chance of any overtaking. (Only Monaco is more difficult to overtake at.) There are no real straights on this circuit and the drivers are nearly always turning a corner. Each lap is 3.9Km and the Grand Prix race is over 77 laps. The race normally runs...

Class racer, best yet
Review of F1 World Grand Prix (N64) by
guinness
Advantages: Detailed graphics, and realistic controls
Disadvantages: Out of date after a year
...can have up to four different seasons on the go at any one time.
Finally there is the Challenge mode, there are 5 challenges for each category - Offence,
Defence and Trouble. All 15 challenges are taken from real life events and you have to
successfully complete each challenge to earn points. Then there is the drivers, you can
check their stats all have real life stats, names and pictures except Jacques Villeneuve
who for some reason was excluded from the game (Don’t ask me why, his team-mate is
in the game) and is used to activate the cheats.
As it’s name suggests F1 World Grand Prix is a Formula 1 game, but it is the first top
class F1 game on the N64...

The flagship of F1
Review of Formula 1 Circuit, Monte Carlo, Monaco by
mark152
Advantages: The history
Disadvantages: Limited overtaking
...I am not a great fan of Formula 1 motor racing, but will always turn on to watch the weekend at Monte Carlo. I don't know if it is the sharp corners or the history of the circuit but there is always a buzz when F1 goes there. I have not had the pleasure of seeing F1 cars race the circuit live, but have been there in the days after a Grand Prix. The tunnel, the pits, the grid on the main street, the casino. How can anyone fail to see the appeal of this magnificent circuit? The fact that there is no overtaking is made up for by the dramatic backdrops and sharp bends. Lets hope that they keep this magnificent annual race and heres to more future dramatics at Monaco....

Johnny - The Future
Review of Johnny Herbert by
Stefan
Advantages: Loyal, Good Humoured, Immensely talented, British
Disadvantages: His car!!
...I have been a fan of Johnny's since watcing him most weekends in formula ford and F3. The horrific crash and most things that have followed have brought him never ending bad luck. Unusually he seems to be repaid on rare occasions with huge amounts of luck, resulting in Grand Prix wins. He has never had the support, or the car that he deserves and this is why he needs to get out of F1. His decision to race in America is excellent. We just need some decent TV coverage, especially with the planned race in this country at Rockingham next year. He now has the opportunity to re-establish himself as a top driverin a series where not one car dominates to the degree of F1. Good luck Johnny, but F1 won't be the same without you!!...

Live out those F1 fantasies with Grand Prix 3
Review of Grand Prix 3 (PC) by
Dunc
Advantages: Realism, graphics, fun
Disadvantages: Outdated cars and drivers
...This is a superb game. I could end the review there, but instead I'll explain my reasons:
GP3 has something for everybody. The graphics are superb and the game is highly realistic, yet it is not too difficult to get into. If you want to do a full-length F1 race, then you can. If you want to have a 10 minute blast around the track, you can. If you want to go to Hockenheim and do some spectacular 180 mph crashes, then you can!
The only real disadvantage that I can see is that the cars and drivers in the game are a couple of seasons out of date. That doesn't bother me much, and it is really a testament to how long the game was in development for. That long development period really shows in the quality of the game. If you like racing games, buy it! Not just for fans of F1.
Requires:
PII 266 or equivalent
32mb RAM
2mb graphics card
Hard...

Fantastic Simulation, But GP3 is much better!
Review of Grand Prix 2 (PC) by
fiisch
Advantages: Good fun for the enthusiast creating endless hours of fun.
Disadvantages: The recent release of GP3 outclasses it by a long way as well as the omision of weathering effects in GP2
...GP2 is very good for the F1 enthusiast. If you are looking for an Arcade-type racing game then look elsewhere. To win on this game you must setup your car, hone your driving skills and watch those tyres and fuel gauge as did Michael Schumacher, Damon Hill, Jacques Villeneurve to name but a view who have won the priveleged title of F1 World Champion.
It is a shame that weather effects were not included in the game although this is a small fault. If you are an F1 enthusiast you can enjoy endless hours of fun speeding round tracks although the recent release of GP3 tops GP2 by a long way.
Grand Prix 3 includes weathering effects as well as having all the 1998 drivers and teams and fantastic crashes and racing action.
However, to experience the full benefits of GP3, the buying of a steering wheel is a must!!!...

grand Prix 3......
Review of Grand Prix 3 (PC) by
jimbomcconnell
Advantages: everything!!!!11
Disadvantages: needs a high spec pc
...Well, basically it goes like this.... Formula one is a growing form of motorsport. It is a multi-million pound business, and now you get to be a part of it in the form of the great game, grand prix 3.
Formula one games allow you to race a round the great F1 world championship tracks, allowing you to race around at top speed past great sporting landmarks, such as the fairground wheel at the japanes circuit. You can choose from any of the worlds' Formula 1 drivers, and race around in any of the formula 1 cars.
The only trouble is that it requires quite a high spec PC, as its impressive visuals need a good graphics card and RAM, a good 64mb ram and a voodoo 3 should give decent results. You can plug in a controller, or just use the keyboard, but a controller is better! If you like formula one, or just racing games in general, I highly...

Review of F1 World Grand Prix (N64) by
lesinge2k
Advantages: Realistic sim, nice touches
Disadvantages: can grow tedious after a while
...This game emulates the 1997 World Grand Prix, and you'd believe it were real if it weren't for the lack of g's and wind rushing past.
All the tracks from the 1997 Grand Prix are present, and are accurately simulated. You can even set up the weather to reflect the conditions from 1997, which is a nice touch.
The game has the usual Practice, Time Trial etc modes, but I went straight to the Championship or Grand Prix mode. Here you are given a number of practice laps, then a qualifying session, then if you achieve a reasonable time, you are allowed onto the race itself. You can set whether you want to race the full 50 or so laps - depending on the track - or a cut down version of the race. The full race, which can involve 70 laps on some courses can get tedious, so I would recommend not going for this option unless you are a real...
