Advantages: easy to use, slim, one of the cheapest about at the moment Disadvantages: A lot of hidden costs, no AC adapter
...This years must have item seems to be Satellite navigation. Of course over the last few years these little in car devices seem to have been growing popularity but this years run up to Christmas has really seen an explosion in the advertising and purchase of them. So being into my gadgets and not having one I decided with the offers about it was time to invest, especially as I spend a lot of my working week in the car going from one place to another. I did a bit of research on which one to go for and in the end went into Halfords and asked the assistant.
I expected the hard sale and to be pushed towards some top of the range model that was miles out of my price range. Instead it was recommended that I go for the Navman F20, one of the cheapest on the market at the moment. In fact at £149 it was Halfords cheapest GPS navigation system...

Review of Navman F20
Advantages: Easy to use, clear touch screen, petrol button Disadvantages: Occasionally voice directions get confusing
...I bought the Navman F20 for my girlfriend for xmas, but have found myself using it more than she does.
I find it fun to use. The screen is big and clear, yes the F20 is wider than the TomTom etc, but it is very slim in comparison.
The touch screen is easy to use, and the in-screen buttons and options are simple to follow. From first taking it out of the box we had it up and running in under 2 minutes.
I bought this product because it was at the cheaper end of the market at £150 from Argos. It comes with the unit, an in car cradle and an in car charger, I have heard complaints that it doesn't come with a wall charger or a PC connection cable, but we only use this product in the car, so we do not have a need to charge it in the house. It comes with maps to cover all of the UK and Ireland, so again I can see no need to...

Review of Navman F20
Advantages: Excellent navigation, easy to install and dismount Disadvantages: does not have mp3 player like other nav systems
...Since passing my test 3 months ago, my family has noted my poor navigational skills. On recent drives to Portsmouth and Eastbourne (where getting lost doubled the journey time!) I relied on print outs from AA and the old fashioned A-Z. You can imagine my joy at receiving a Sat Nav system for Christmas!
***Navman/The Navman F20***
I have always been skeptical about navigation systems, in particular hearing about the systems directing people the wrong way. However, the F20, is supposedly the simplest, most reliable GPS navigation system on the market today. So on recommendation from friends and because it fitted his price bracket, it led to my other half buying this Navman for £150-£250 (he wouldn't tell me the exact cost!) from Halfords.
The packaging itself is enough to get anyone excited! The device came in a small...

Review of Navman F20 Local
Advantages: Easy to use, Speed camera detection Disadvantages: None
...I am a professional Golfer which means i have to drive all over the country to play. As you can imagine finding the Golf Courses can be very difficult so it soon became apparent that a SatNav was a necessary requirment of what i do.
What i was looking for was a touch screen SatNav with rechargable batteries and at a reasonable price. This was the one that was recommended by all shops i went to ask. As it was a reasonable price i bought it.
The F20 is so easy to use and has the ability to save addresses you think you may be visiting again. It has never taken me to the wrong place and has a 100% success rate of of getting me to a place on time. It is a partial touch screen with a few buttons down the side for easy of use. It comes with a car charger and has the capacity for a memory card if you want to download and save more maps...

Review of Navman F20
Advantages: Does all you want for a fraction of the cost of other systems Disadvantages: No mains included, no PC connectivity kit included
...To be honest, I didn't know if I wanted to buy a Sat Nav system at all, however I thought that it may be a handy thing to have. I had read about people being directed down dirt tracks and such.
I knew that I would not be using it a great deal, so I didn't want to spend a lot of money on something i would not use much. Therefore I plumped for one of the cheapest on the market, the Navman F20.
Now, I did not know what I was going to get for my money, so I was not expecting much.
However I was very pleasantly surprised!
First of all I messed around going to places which I knew.
I purposely took different routes to those directed by the system and it very quickly re routed me, it never once told me to make a U turn
Then I needed to travel to a plce I had never been to before, to Dudley from my Rotherham home.
I printed...

Review of Navman F20
Advantages: Great price, small size, auto re-route. Disadvantages: Iffy post code search, and can take a while to locate sattellites.
...The wife and I wanted a sat nav system as we do a lot of caravanning now, and always argue about directions.
A few friends of ours had the tom tom systems, but being a tight wad, I didnt want to spend £200 +.
Enter the Navman F20.
It was cheap to buy (£140), and came with the following;
F20 main unit
Car charger
Windscreen mount
Loads of instructions
The unit is ready to use straight from the box, but its better to sit and read through the instructions for 10 minutes, Which were clear and easy to follow.
All the advertisments state that the F20 has full postcode search, but I can only get a max of 5 digits in. That is not a problem is you are going to someones house because you can combine p/code search with a house number. But when searching for anything else, it can be a pain trying to find where you want to go. I...

Review of Navman F20
Advantages: Inexpensive, solid build, excellent driving aid Disadvantages: Noe so far
...I've been wanting a sat nav for a while and must admit I was swayed towards a Tom Tom One as a lot of reviews favoured it, but at around £150 even discounted it was a little above what I wanted to spend.
Working at ASDA, with my discount I got my F20 for £112.50 and what a bargain. Very easy to set up, the menus are much like the TTOne, very intuative and if you have ever used a sat nav before you shouldn't need to look at the manual except for specific functions i.e cancelling a route or temporarily suspending your journey etc'. The speech is either male or female and very clear with plenty of volume, the screen is very clear and all icons easy on the eye.
On the road, the FREE speed camera warnings work extremely well although they work on a radius rather than laterally so you may get a warning for a camera that you don...

Review of Navman F20
Advantages: Has nearly everything you could want in a Gps Disadvantages: Lack of a manual Block road function makes it useless
...This is my 3rd GPS and what a bargain for £200 you get all the normal functions plus speed camera database ( which you have to pay to update) and the T1 module, which gives live traffic updates to reroute you.
I was very happy until I became aware of the lack of a manual block road function. Like I said this is my 3rd gps and a block road function is a very useful basic tool which has been invaluable on my previous GPS's. You arrive in a strange area and the road ahead is blocked for what ever reason now normally I would block the road and the gps will route me around the blockage. With the F20 you do not have this option, if the T1 does not list the blockage, (It does not list all local traffic info).
You have resort to driving off in a different direction and try to guess when the F20 decides it's found a different route...

Review of Navman F20 Local
Advantages: As good as Tom Tom Disadvantages: None
...Until l i used the navman f20 i must admit that i always thought the best sat nav was tom tom. But I guess i was wrong.
The Navman F20, which is actually the cheaper end of the sat nav market is incredible value for money. It has exactly the same features as Tom Tom but for a lot less money.
You can find your destination by post code, street name and area, the screen shows you the roads of the road you are on which is always helpful, it has camera locations loaded, it remembers previous destinations and is just so simple to use, i never even picked up the instructions! It comes complete with cradle and in car charger too and in my opinion is just the right size so you can see the route easily without restricting your view of the road ahead. I also think it calculates the route much quicker than the tom tom i had. Great deal i...
