Canon EF 24-105mm f4 IS USM - A great all rounder?
Advantages: Build quality. Compact. Weight. Optical quality. Image Stabilisation.
Disadvantages: Barrel distortion and Chromatic Aberration at 24mm
...I purchased this lens brand new to accompany my then new Canon EOS 5D around 18 months ago. I have to confess, I spent over two weeks prior to making my purchases deciding just which lens I should choose as my 'standard' zoom - this, or the also highly regarded Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 USM. In the end, I chose the 24-105 for reasons which I will divulge as we go along.
This lens is designed primarily for use on FF (Full Frame) DSLR's or 35mm film SLR cameras, the 4.4x zoom range presenting a somewhat less attractive 39-168mm focal length range when used on Canon APS-C DSLR camera due of course, to the 1.6x crop factor of the smaller sensor. The range of this lens covers all the most popular focal lengths within it's range and of course, in a completely stepless and smooth transition from serious wide angle, through to what might be...

Sweet lovely F4
Advantages: Nimble bike for practical every day use for street, Track and Tour
Disadvantages: Too tame...
...I have been riding my gixxer for 40 month till I get my CBR900RRV in 00. Rode the Fireblade for 10 months till I laid my eyes on a used CBR600F4 June 2001, with 8000km on the clock.
Been riding it for 12 months and travelled 20000km under my hand....First impression of the bike is gentle instead of aggressive. This bike come with a mainstand....Scratch my head?? Why?? Now then I realised that this bike is meant for Track but yet retained it street usbility. Perfect for my case here.
I tried the 2001 CBR600f4i before I bought my F4. F4i pull slightly stronger at low rev, fret not F4 have no problem in keeping up at all times. Honda fuel-injection suck big time, F4i is so noisy and unrefined compared to the older brother the carb model.
My prior CBR900RRV was easy to live with, plus that tendon ripping power. Been doing abit...

Sigma AF 70-300mm f4-f5.6 APO DG Macro
Advantages: Decent quality on a budget but only for APS-C digital SLR's.
Disadvantages: Really quite poor when used with full-frame digital SLR's.
...of good quality. I don't know if it is simply a variation between samples but my own APO version appeared to have somewhat 'smoother' zooming than my friend's non APO one. As usual for Sigma, a decent lens hood (barrel type) and a soft case are included in the package. The lens sports a 58mm filter thread, so filters are relatively inexpensive to purchase.
Being of more 'ordinary' status in the Sigma hierarchy, this AF 70-300mm f/4-f/5.6 DG APO Macro, has none of the more elaborate 'bells and whistles' evident on the more expensive EX range. What does this mean? Well, you don't get Sigma's superb HSM (Hypersonic Motor) AF (auto-focusing) for near silent and very fast AF, resulting in a somewhat more unsophisticated, noisy (although not overly so) and slightly 'harsh' action. It still works well however! Also, you get no FTM (full time manual...

The Excellent Sigma EX 12-24mm F4.5-5.6 DG lens.
Advantages: Superb design, value for money and professional results.
Disadvantages: None
...Sigma EX 12-24mm F4.5-5,6 DG Nikon fit AF D.
This a great wide-angle zoom lens offering professional performance, results and is a joy to use.
It is suitable for both digital SLR's and 35mm Film cameras and focusing can be used manually or autofocus.
This my first Sigma lens as I own only quality Nikon lenses so I was unsure at first about purchasing a brand and lens unknown to me.
Any doubts or fears about quality were put to rest as soon as I took the lens out of it's box. It is as well crafted as any Nikon lens and a truly remarkable piece of design. It has an unusual appearance as instead of the usual glass flat surface lens it has a "bobble" or "ball" of glass which has a very alien look to it. I'm still not used to this and I feel that as it is sticking out so much that it may be a bit vulnerable to potential damage...

Sigma EX 10-20mm f4-f5.6 DC HSM
Advantages: Good quality results. Good build. Compact. Price.
Disadvantages: Distortion with architecture and interior shots.
...) although fairly compact and obviously well built, with a nice (I think) smooth black 'crinkle' finish which, while seeming to 'attract' dust, is just as easy to wipe over and keep clean. The lens feels well balanced on most cameras.
With a maximum aperture of f/4 at the widest end and f/5.6 at the longer end, it is a little 'slower' than it's Canon counterpart. However, just like the Canon lens, the technological constraints have not been pushed too hard and consequently, the result is a better performing lens, albeit with slightly less 'exciting' specification. This is no bad thing in my opinion. What's the point of an f/2.8 maximum aperture , when resulting quality is poor, even sometimes at the expense of overall performance throughout the entire zoom range and at all apertures?
Unlike Canon, Sigma DO include a proper lens hood (petal...

Canon EF 70mm-200mm F/4 L USM
Advantages: Light weight, Sharp, Fast, Reasonably Priced
Disadvantages: Not Image Stabilised, Tripod Collar not included
...I have been using my 70mm-200mm F4.0 L for roughly 2 years on a 20D body.
It is very quick to focus and is very sharp throughout the focal range. The bokeh is very soft at F/4 giving a soft, out of focus background.
The lens is extremely light, making it easy to transport.
I find it an extremely useful lens, due to the extensive range from 70mm-200mm and use it with a 1.4x converter to create a total length of 280mm. I personally use my lens to take images of motorsport and wildlife, which it lends itself to beautifully. The build quality of this lens is excellent - which means no wobbling and smooth controls.
A few more specification details - The optical construction is made of 16 elements in 13 groups, including 1 CaF2 and 2 UD elements. The minimum focus distance is 1.32m resulting in a maximum object magnification of 1...

Canon EF-S 10-22mm f3.5-f4.5 USM
Advantages: Range. Optical Quality. Size. Weight. Price.
Disadvantages: Lens hood not supplied with lens.
...Having owned and used my Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-f/4.5 USM zoom lens for around 15 to 18 months I feel that it is in many ways, quite an exceptional lens. Effectively covering the versatile full-frame equivalent 16-35mm zoom lens, it is a valuable addition to anyone's kit.
Being an EF-S lens (the 'S' standing for 'Short' back-focus), it is designed for use ONLY with cameras having APS-C size sensors. Don't attempt to fit one to a full-frame DSLR or 35mm SLR camera. Such lenses have reduced image circles and produce vignetting on full-frame or 35mm cameras. Furthermore, the rear lens element could get hit by the reflex mirror, causing serious damage.
With a maximum aperture of f/3.5 at the widest end and f/4.5 at the more moderate end of the zoom range, the lens is not 'fast' by any stretch of the imagination. However...

Canon Lens
Advantages: Lightweight
Disadvantages: None
...This is a good quality lens that offers good value for money. It's a great lens for any canon enthusiast and incorporates plenty of features that I would highly recommend. This really is a wonderful piece of kit that should go well with many accessories because it really looks good. After using this product for a few months I have not so far come up against any reliability issues but only time will tell. I therefore would recommend the product. However, always think carefully as to whether you actually really need something before you buy it. We buy so many things nowadays that we don't really need.
