Fabric Softeners
Review of Fabric Softeners in General by
supreah
Advantages: Makes your clothes feel soft and smell nice.
Disadvantages: You could be allergic to its ingredients.
...Who doesn't love their linen to have a soft comfortable feel! Fabric softeners do just that for you and make your laundry smell nice and fresh as well! Little wonder that they have almost become an indispensable component of the modern washing regime.
So, what exactly is a fabric softener?
****************************************
Indicative of the name, a fabric softener is a product used to make your laundry softer and fluffier. In addition, they also reduce static in your clothes. Fabric softener is often termed as fabric conditioner and comes in three different forms: liquid, sheet (to be used in dryer) or as part of a detergent. Recently, fabric conditioners are also available in capsule form that can be put straight into the washing machine at the start of the wash cycle.
Some leading brand names include Comfort, Lenor, Fairy...

Beautiful smelling laundry
Review of ASDA easy iron ylang and jasmin fabric conditioner by
punt
Advantages: Longer lasting fragrance
Disadvantages: Doesnt make ironing easier
...The asda fabric conditioner were purchased merely to see if price indicated quality, and I have to say, not in this case.
The asda ylang&jasmine fabric conditioner cost £1.59 for 750ml.
Claims
``````````
21 Washes
Crease busting agents, proven to make ironing easier
Softens as well as the leading brand in a range of laboratory tests
This fabric conditioner has a really strong smell to it, its not overbearing, its a floral/ sweet smell.
I used the recommended useage guide per load, and didnt need to increase the amount, as I was pleased with the results.
My laundry were softer to the touch, accross a wide range of fabrics, as for creases, a few less, although easier to iron?
Im not a fan of ironing, so I tend to get it done, and out of my sight as quick as possible.
The main thing which stands out with this conditioner...
TAKE COMFORT IN THIS
Review of Comfort Easy Iron (Fabric Conditioner/ Enhancer) by
chrissiepops
Advantages: :-)
Disadvantages: none
...Comfort fabric conditioner is excellent at making your clothes smell lovely. I have used this for years now and never had any problems with it. It comes in a variety of smells and they now do easy iron. A variety of sizes are available and they even do a concentrate which you can tip into your empty bottle!
I use the sensitive comfort as I have two children and it leaves the clothes soft and smelling of flowers and no skin problems either. I would recommend this to people who want to look after there children's skin.
All for cujimmy and the 90 word challenge :-)...
Skin & Eye Irritation
Review of Lenor (Fabric Conditioner/ Enhancer) by
cathbuckfield
Advantages: Smells pleasant, makes clothes soft
Disadvantages: Skin irritation
...This product caused my husband a lot of discomfort with a skin rash and eye irritation. After several tests it was discovered that the problem was caused when I used Lenor in my washing. As soon as I stopped using Lenor the problem went away. We were unable to find out which of the active ingredients of the product causefd the irritation but it has not re-occurred since changing to another popular brand.
My husband does not normally suffer with sensitive skin but this reacted badly on him.
If you use Lenor and suffer skin irritation you may want to consider using a different fabric conditioner....
Smell fresh as a daisy
Review of Lenor (Fabric Conditioner/ Enhancer) by
flowercarole
Advantages: Smells wonderful, clean and fresh
Disadvantages: none
...I recently tried the Lenor 'Spring Awakening' fabric conditioner and all I can say is 10 out of 10! It's great, cheap and cheerful. For a 1 litre plastic bottle it cost me 98p from Tesco's however if you look around I'm sure you'll get it a little cheaper.
Lenor fabric conditioner works exceptionally well, especially on soft cottons/jersey fabrics. When your washing has come out of the washing machine the fresh clean smell hits you instantly. I find if I put one dosage of 110ml that usually does the trick to get them soft and fresh, however if you've got some of your hubby's/partners smelly socks to deal with then I would suggest to put about 140ml in, just to kill that smell off completely! You can also use this fabric conditioner when handwashing but don't go mad with it as too much will leave you clothes feeling a little 'slimey...
Answer to a pressing problem
Review of Asda (Fabric Conditioner/ Enhancer) by
Suzan
Advantages: Works as well as branded products for less money
Disadvantages: Fragrance fades quickly
...Fabric conditioners which claim to make ironing easier and quicker are relatively new products on the market. They work by reducing the creasing of clothes in the wash and static cling. They are, of course, quite a bit dearer than ordinary fabric conditioners. Asda have recently introduced their own-brand product - Asda Easy Iron Concentrated Fabric Conditioner.This is a rich, mauve liquid which is suitable for use in automatics, twin-tubs and for handwashing. As it is concentrated you only need to use one capful in your automatic and less for twin-tubs and handwashing. It has a pleasant, fresh smell, not overpowering. The product claims to be “colour safe” and also to help reduce wear and tear on clothes, claims that are difficult to confirm or deny. However, my washing did feel softer after using the product. But what about the main...
Comfort Pure
Review of Comfort Pure fabric conditioner by
ineichen1
Advantages: Smell and softness
Disadvantages: Price, a bit pricey compared to thers on the maret
...When i left home to go to University my mum always stocked me up with washing powder and fabric softener. When i left University and moved into my own house i decided i would try and reduce my weekly shopping bill, one thing i did was buy own brand fabric conditioner....never again! Anyway, back to this product! One day this was on offer so i thought i would give it a go and we have used it ever since. I now have a 2 year old daughter and wouldn't use anything else on her clothes.
****What is it****
Comfort Pure is a fabric conditioner which does exactly that...conditions your clothes! The liquid comes in 2 different sizes and is a white thickish liquid. It can be bought as concentrate or normal, we personally use the concentrate
****What it does*****
Comfort Pure keeps the fibres smoother so clothes feel soft and gentle against...
It is True!
Review of Lenor (Fabric Conditioner/ Enhancer) by
amela
Advantages: It does what it claims it does help easier ironing
Disadvantages: Bit on the expensive side
...Anything that helps with ironing is must for me. I was a bit sceptical at first because it is just another fancy name for the fabric conditioner but I was pleasantly surprised almost after first wash. Although I used fasted spin on those heavy weight cotton jogging bottoms and tops and dryed them on radiators they were not crinckled as usual (they usually look as if ther wer chewed and spit by cow and need copous amounts of steam to iron the out) But hey with this Enhancer I almost (I say almost) did not need to iron them at all. The success was accros the board -all fabricks were easier to iron And towels -lovely -soft but still dry you up unlike when treated with fabric conditioner. Not much choice with fragrance (only two one of which I did not particularly like) I stocked up on it while it was still on introductory offer. I use...
Carnavil Fresh
Review of Lenor (Fabric Conditioner/ Enhancer) by
purdy
Advantages: The smell is lovely
Disadvantages: When it runs out!
...Here l am again writing another domestic good opinion - what on earth is happening to me!
You know how when your mother does the laundry, she always seems to give it back to you smelling fabulous with out a wrinkle in sight, and then when you do your own laundry you simply cannot attain those standards set by your mum. Perhaps they learn it in a special mothers only class, l dont know.
Well l have at least unravelled part one of the afore said mystery. Lenor fabric conditioner. At the moment my favourite must be carnavil fresh (please accept my apologies for my spelling!). It smells like your favourite summer days, one whiff of it and the blackest of moods disappear.
The smell really stays in the clothes too - open a wardrobe and immediately you are hit by the fragrance.
It comes in all the usual ranges, plus which l find great...
