Fairmont Palliser - Calgary. Cow towns best?

Advantages: Grand comfort, good location, great price.
Disadvantages: No airport shuttle bus.

...We stayed in the Fairmont Palliser, Calgary last weekend after a week long Ski holiday to the Rocky, Purcell and Kootenay mountains. (6 mountains in 8 days - just to make any skiers reading jealous!!) It was a great place for some luxury after skiing all week! We didn't really use too many of the facilities as we only stayed one night but the public areas of the hotel are exceptionally grand but not at all stuffy. This is Calgary, after all! One thing I would say is that the prices advertised on Ciao for a stay here are a ripoff. We paid C$130 (~£75) for a queen room on a Saturday night. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Not particularly large but had enough room for us and our gear. The bathroom was a little past its prime, with paint peeling a little from the ceiling but the towels were very clean and the provided toiletries...

Fairmont in the Desert

...I visited Dubai for the first time last year and was very impressed as soon as I had hit the airport. A friend picked me up and took me to a hotel where we were to stay for a night and day, before leaving for Abu Dhabi. I didn't have any idea which hotel we were about to stay in. As we pulled off the expressway, I noticed the two beautiful towers of the World Trade Centre at the heart of Dubai, as we approached them. As I was gazing at the towers and the numerous buildings surrounding it, I didn't notice the Fairmont Hotel fast approaching. The building is beautiful. It matches the style of the surrounding structures yet still seems different. Each top corner of the building has a pyramid shape on top, looking like watch towers. Arctic Tale

Advantages: Learn about polar bears in the arctic
Disadvantages: graphics arent very good and things to do are limited

...I would recommend this game to younger children. Its a very basic and easy to use game which learns you how polar bears live in the arctic. Arctic Tale the game gives you an insight into what the games about on one of the first pages. It says;- 'Our story starts in the shadow of Snow Mountain. In this unforgiving land, many challenges face the young Arctic animals during the early years of their lives'. I started to play the game, on the top screen on the left there is a large red heart which next to it says 3 and there is a message in the middle which says ' Each time you emerge from the den your strength and bravery will increase. ...need to collect 40 silver paws you find the paws by walking around the arctic where you will come across them. To play as another land animal you have to go through one of the magic caves which are hidden around the world, you can then play the challenges, to play as a water animal go to the markers of that animal and if you have enough paw prints you can play. you can play challenges , thre are also 12 mini games you can play they are.............. ice slide scavenge shuffle food fight ice flow rodeo catch a seal orca race ice sheet clam scavenge walrus chase walrus hunt makin sweet music There is also a mutiplayer menu. ...Arctic Monkeys ? Humbug I don't usually write about music but I thought I'd give it a try. I'm not a fan of most music reviews because they're dominated by impressive musical lingo that goes over most people?s heads so I'll keep it short and relatively simple. The Arctic Monkeys grew on me rather quickly with their debut album way back in 2006 after initial doubts that they were just another over-hyped guitar-fondling gang of girls. There first two albums instantly grabbed people with front man Alex Turner?s catchy beats and wonderful lyrics. So it's disappointing that apart from Crying Lightning, the new album doesn't have the same hooks. Crying Lightning has been on the airwaves for about a month now and for that to be the best song of the album is a massive shame. Not that there aren?t other highlights. Fake tales of the arctics at the apollo

Advantages: Tune after tune played flawlessly

...Every track on this dvd is performed with the ease of true professionals, you know when you have a good band on your hands when the live performance is spot on with the radio and cd versions. The intro uses a 70s style tv sequence to bring the band ontp stage, which is quite cool and there they are no messing about, straight to it with 'Brianstorm' to get the crowd up for it. This is then followed by 'This House is a Circus' and 'Teddy Picker' before they throw the classic 'I Bet you look good on the dancefloor' out there. Two major hits in the first four songs seems a weird way to start the show but anyone who goes to an arctics concert knows that there two albums are littered with anthems, so it really doesnt matter what the set list is. BIt gutted they didnt perform Riot Van or Temptation but i suppose they cant stay on there...
