...I am always on the look out for new books for my daughter (and myself of course) and as she is fond of lift the flap books this one caught my eye last time I was browsing Amazon. I had not come across the author before but it was on special offer so I duly ordered it and waited impatiently for it to arrive (my postman must hate me, I must give him a hernia everytime he delivers!). I pulled it out of its packaging and discovered an absolute gem that I have to share! A fairy tale for adults?

...and written by M Night Shyamalan, many film lovers were looking forward to the release of Lady in the Water in 2006, hoping that it would herald a return to form for the director. Ultimately, many were disappointed by what appears to be a fairy tale for adults, with a little bit of supernatural happenings thrown in for good measure. Putting the Grim back into fairy tales.

...Thanks to Disney, the Victorians and other santizing influences, most people associate fairy tales with cute singing creatures, beautiful princesses and the like. If you thought Snow White was about a girl and some dwarves and a handsom prince, think again. Michael Cohn's 1997 film goes back to the original Grimm tale, back to the dark forests, the terror and the dangers. This is a film about sexual jealousy, poverty, obsession and very dark magic. ...I was reminded of this movie by reading a review on the Disney classic earlier today. Snow White : Tale of terror should NEVER be confused with the Disney movie because it is dark evil tale based upon The Brothers Grimm fairy story. Pretty it ain't and it would give your little darlings nightmares for the rest of their lives. Snow White: Tale of Terror(aka Snow White in the black forest) is much more faithful to the original fairytale as told by the borthers Grimm. It isn't tarted up, sanitised and with its ending changed like the Disney version or many of those others which have followed, but rather sticks to the rather dark tale that they initially told...and its just great for it! The Hardworking Fairy

Advantages: A washing up liquid that is well worth paying extra for.

...herbalists and aromatherapists but I am not too sure that my dishes have feelings or emotions ! In all honesty the lavender colour was slightly off-putting but the offer was attractive and the deal was clinched. I was the proud owner of one large bottle of Lavender Fairy liquid and at 98p for a 450 ml bottle it was worth buying. Without listing the ingredients and telling you what part they play etc. the tale of the Fairy washing -up liquid isn't going to be an epic. I think that we are far better discussing the merits of Fairy liquid, its strengths and its weaknesses. Your washing-up bowl is full of hot steamy water so you flip the top of the clear plastic bottle and gently squeeze until a couple of drops of liquid make contact with the hot water. Is the lavender having a soothing effect on me as I battle to clean my eggy plates...

...It took me a while to try Lush's shower gels - they do seem rather expensive, after all. However, since Snow Fairy is part of the Christmas range I'm working my way through entirely, and smelled okay if a tad overpowering, let's give it a go! And yet again - I'm glad I did! As I say, one whiff of the bottle and Snow Fairy is quite overwhelming - it's a very concentrated sweet scent, and I had to assume that it'd calm down a bit diluted in use. We-ell, it does, but it's still quite strong! It's incredibly sweet/sweetie-type scent - my favourite description has been that it's a super-charged version of the Creamy Candy Bar or Rockstar soap.
