Life Is Sweet : A family obsessed with food.

Advantages: Highly watchable, engrossing, very well acted, amusing in parts
Disadvantages: None for me

Dip into Family Life

Advantages: Pleasant light read, gentle humour, thought-provoking
Disadvantages: Not much plot, a bit caricatured

...This is the story of the Robinson family, told by their fifty-something-year-old close friend Dip Reynolds. (Why she's known as 'Dip' is revealed in the course of the book). Dip is privileged to be almost part of the family, so much so that she sees them without their 'visitor' masks. She observes unwashed dishes and family squabbles, and sees both the advantages and disadvantages to family life. The Robinsons are supposedly a typical family, although I find them just a tad caricatured. Mike, the father, is mostly placidly laid-back, although every so often he decides the family needs more organising, and embarks on a campaign of list-making and rota-producing, which lasts all of 24 hours before he lapses back into the usual chaos. Horse STILL life...not much happens

Advantages: easy to learn, good controls, fun at first
Disadvantages: no storyline and game format doesn't vary, nothing happens when you complete

...I got this game as part of a multi-game cartridge and, as a horse enthusiast, it was one of the first games I played. I have previously played several horse games for the PC in the past, but now I am "grown up" (technically) haven't played any in a while, and the improvement in graphics in this type of game is noticeable. The DS also makes control a lot easier. OVERVIEW While the name mentions the Whitakers, the game doesn't actually mention the famous showjumping family. I'm not sure if the box mentions them, as like I said it was on a multi-game cart. For me this was a plus because I'm not really a huge fan anyway, and games endorsed by one person like that tend to have them as the mentor telling the player what to do, and I find it a little cheesy and irritating. ...I have always enjoyed Rowan Coleman's books so I'm always pleased when I spot a new one of hers. I was especially pleased when I picked up The Accidental Family because I realised it is a sequel to one of her earlier books - The Accidental Mother. I had read this a while ago and really enjoyed it so it was interesting to see what happened to the characters afterwards. Having said that though, The Accidental Family can be read as a stand alone novel although it does have an added value if you read The Accidental Mother first. In the first book Sophie Mills suddenly finds herself looking after her best friend's two daughters after a fatal car accident. At the end of the book, the girls' long lost father has reappeared and Sophie has fallen in love with him. They all move to Cornwall and this second book follows what happens as they start...
