The Elgin hotel, Blackpool

Advantages: lovely food and good service from the waiters
Disadvantages: Everthing else about the place

...I have already done a review about Blackpool, and I absolutely love the place, we went to Blackpool two years ago on a family holiday, myself husband and three kids. We booked our holiday through The Belfast Telegraph travel agentsand we went through Ulster Bus tours, the price was £800 approx this included traveling expenses and the hotel.(Bed, breakfast and evening meal). The hotel was the Elgin and we were told that this was a great hotel for families. Arriving at the hotel We arrived at our hotel at about 7.30pm and had to que at the reception to get our keys this I didnt mind but our dinner was at 7.45pm and we still had to get our luggage to our room, we got our luggage sorted and went down for dinner, the food was beautiful and the service from the waiters was fantastic. First impressions of the hotel Well there was...

Choice Hotels in Blackpool

Advantages: Well appointed,clean, kids club,spacious,good food,friendly staff
Disadvantages: None

...has also has an excellent kid's club - my little girl (who's 6) is now on first name terms with the kid's club staff and they remember her (for good reasons I might add). The kids club offers a great range of activities from 10.00 am in the morning right through to 9.00pm at night and its free! The only drawback is that you have to stay in the hotel. The rooms are well appointed too - all have private facilities and some of the family rooms are large (they accomodate a double bed, single bed, cot and a pram with ease and still with room to spare). Situated on the quieter and more select North Promenade (none of the usual Blackpool trappings up here), you're only a 10 minute tram ride from the centre (stopping right outside the hotel) and parking is plentiful and free! (For those of you who know Blackpool free parking is rare). Plus...

Norbreck Castle Hotel - Blackpool

Advantages: Late bar and all you can eat food
Disadvantages: Too far to the town

...My friends and I decided to have a weekend away because it was one of their birthdays. We booked for a two-night weekend break at the Norbreck Castle Hotel in Blackpool through National Coach Holidays on 19 November 2004. The brochure described the break as being ?All inclusive? and we looked forward to fact that we would be able to drink copious amounts of alcohol for free (and why not!). We paid £89.00 for two night?s dinner, bed and breakfast with drinks also included from 7.30pm ? 10.30pm in one of the three bars in the hotel. When we arrived at 1.30pm we were met in the lobby with a poster telling us that we were unable to check in until 3.30pm, this was our first mishap. The décor in the lobby was okay and the hotel on the surface seemed rather nice. We made our way to the bar (as you do), to kill a couple of hours...

Claremont Hotel, Blackpool

Advantages: Lovely staff, great location, Facilities, Cost!
Disadvantages: Ummm...oh, parking.

...We have stayed in both the Claremont Hotel and their Motel apartments, both of which we had a great time. A group of us decided that we would take a trip down to Blackpool during the summer for a weekend stay from Friday - Sunday. We browsed through loads of hotels with one thing in mind - PRICE! For the 2 nights staying at the Motel it cost £75 each - but check the website to get an up to date tariff. The £75 was for the room only - we didn't want to pay for bed and breakfast, we just get breakfast if we fancy it, or are awake when it is being served! The hotel has a Motel in a separate building to the back of the hotel, which is laid out like a block of flats. Pricing of food and drinks from the bar is very fair, but you would be cheaper in a pub (as with most hotels). We went to Blackpool in August, and were lucky to have...

A bleak Blackpool hotel

Advantages: see review
Disadvantages: see review

... Background When Mrs B and I decided that we would take Baby B on her first seaside holiday we knew that Blackpool was tacky so knew that it wasn't exactly sparkling and the place it used to be but we thought we would go along anyway and try and have a little family break with our 3 month old baby. It all seemed like a really good idea but seeing as we were not the most rich of new parents we thought we'd do it on as much as a budget as possible and after trawling through the internet we came across Liberty's and decided that it sounded ideal. The fact that it included dinner in with the deal was really what swung it for us, we didn't fancy walking around for hours in an evening trying to find somewhere to eat with a young baby in tow. First opinion When we first saw the hotel we immediately thought what have we done...

ARUNDEL HOTEL, BLACKPOOL

Advantages: Quiet location,competitive rates,clean & homely
Disadvantages: Distance from Blackpool centre, hospitality (see below, my verdict)

...rooms altogether, all of which are ensuite with shower, a colour TV, central heating, a hairdryer and tea and coffee making facilities. Rooms available are single, twin, double, family and four poster. The hotel is situated closest to the North Pier and therefore is about a 20 - 25 minute walk into Blackpool and all of it's attractions. There is a tram and bus stop ideally situated opposite the hotel. The hotel is completely NON SMOKING, if you are found to be smoking ANYWHERE in the hotel you will be asked to leave. Pets are not allowed. There is a Holistic beauty salon within the hotel where you can book to have a facial or massage during your stay, there is also internet access, a sun lounge and a well stocked bar with widescreen TV and DVD player. There are car park spaces for upto eight cars at the front of the hotel. *THE TARIFF...

Norbreck Castle Hotel

Advantages: Out of the town
Disadvantages: Too many people!

...had plenty we were wanting to do in Blackpool itself. We arrived well before booking in time, and if we had needed to would have been able to store our luggage at the hotel before being allowed to actually book in. We informed them that we had arrived and were able to book our meal time. There was also no problem with us leaving the car in the car park. When we went back to the hotel, we changed our meal time with no problem, when we booked in officially. The staff at the desk were very clear in their instructions of where to find the room and other facilities. The Room. Firstly you are given a key card as opposed to a standard key. There are no markings to identify which room it belongs, which is much better security, as most hotels have the number emblazened with the key, and hotel name also. On entering the room we found...

Norbreck Castle Hotel - Armish Paradise

Advantages: It has 18 wheeler in the arcade!
Disadvantages: It has secret communes of people hidden away...

...desk to the celing were noticably unclean. Everything which was supposed to be white was actually a wonderful tinge of yellow, as if people had chainsmoked in there since 1832. Which was probably the case. We wanderd off the centre of Blackpool on a tram (which was a considerable journey I can tell you!) and went to the fairground. We had to leave our luggage in a large, 1960s style room. We assumed someone would have locked it, but on our return we simply opened the door and picked up our bags. Nobody challenged us or anything, which was strange considering the room was full of people's stuff. Anyway, we were told that dinner would be served at 18:30. So we checked in (at last) and were given our room card. This was suprising, as the hotel did not give the impression of being advanced enough to have such technology. We got the lift up to...

A Long Weekend in Blackpool @ the Grand Metropole

Advantages: Clean and generally friendly hotel, very reasonable prices
Disadvantages: Rooms need ventilation

...near as ?Grand? as the Metropole. rating for pricing: 9 out of 10 OVERALL Aside from the issues of there being no ventilation in the rooms and some rather noisy hen night groups staying in the hotel and being overly rowdy at all hours of day and night (which isn?t the hotel?s fault) we did enjoy our stay at the hotel. We would be happy to return there should we be visiting Blackpool again and I must add here that of the people we chatted with during our stay most of them had stayed at the hotel several times before ? there was a couple who had stayed there shortly after their marriage 35 years previously and 2 sisters who had been to the hotel 3 separate times during this year alone having stayed there for many years in the past. If it?s good enough for them, it?s certainly good enough for us so I?m happy to give the Grand...

Review of Grand Metropole Hotel Blackpool, Blackpool

A quieter side to Blackpool.

Advantages: Clean, friendly and great value for money.
Disadvantages: None worthy of mention during my two night stay.

...so customers know a change has taken place). The room alone was enough to make this a place I would visit again but there was much more to the hotel than just its nice rooms. THE BAR AND RESTAURANT The bar in this hotel was not run down and of cheesy decor like many in Blackpool; instead it had the look of a bar you would find in a much more up-market hotel in a much more up-market place, the decor may have been a bit old fashioned but it was still classy and gave a very relaxed and comfortable feel to the place. The next thing I noticed about the bar was that as well as the usual choices of beers and lagers and the typical spirits on the optics, this bar was very well stocked with a choice of malt whiskey`s and it had a great selection of cask ales. The bar had a very relaxed feel to it on the first night of my stay as me...
