...TY Beanies are adorable, there is no wonder my friends and I were crazy for these little soft toys. The TY beanies came in all sorts of varieties, whether animal or bear. They each had their own special name, and between us, my friends and I owned and could name pretty much every one going! One of the teddies is a cat who goes by the name of Fancy. Straight away, this name seems very appropriate to me. She definitely does look quite fancy, a posh kitty indeed. But it's her fur that makes connections for me. She is made of a very soft, almost silky, clean white fur. This reminds me slightly of the cream you get in Fondant Fancies, so naturally I could make a connection with her name straight away. Fancy that Fancie?

...I have always loved Mr Kipling French Fancies though I myself have always had a habit of calling them 'Fondant Fancies' but it's the same thing really since they are basically small square vanilla sponge cakes covered in a thick fondant icing in either brown, yellow or pink. There is something quite enduring and 'child-like' about French Fancies. Perhaps it's because they look so cute. They normally come as a box of 8, covered over in a cellophane wrapper. Each cake is a 3cm by 3cm square and 3.5 cm tall (including the little 'blob' top) and encased in a little paper muffin case. On the top of each cake is a small bump from where the vanilla butter cream lies beneath. In a box of 8, you always get 3 pink, 3 brown and 2 yellow. Fancy a 'French Fancie'...?

Advantages: Moreish, no artificial flavours or colours
Disadvantages: Quite sweet

...I have always been very loyal to the Mr Kipling brand, mainly because I grew up with it. My mum regularly bought Mr Kipling cakes when I was a child and French Fancies were a firm favourite with me and my sister. You can understand why they appeal to children so much, with their bright colours and delicious fondant icing, and let's be honest, most kids have a sweet tooth! Nowadays, the sweet tooth I had as a child has become - how can I put it - a little less sweet, if you like, and although I still buy Mr Kipling cakes, French Fancies are not at the top of my list anymore. However, I still buy them now and again, and so when I saw a box on offer in Tesco the other day, I could not resist buying some. A box of 8 French Fancies cost me a mere 99p, which I consider a real bargain as the usual retail price is around £1.55. ♦...

Nuthin' Fancy, just very special

...For my next music review I am going for something a little different to my previous music review of the Gospel tinged sounds of Yolanda Adams to Southern Rock's most well known band Lynyrd Skynyrd with their third album Nuthin' Fancy which was released in 1975 to complete three studio albums in three years for the band. Nuthin' Fancy saw the band mid way through their peak years of 1973 to the Fatal Plane Crash in 1977. **Nuthin Fancy** Although the Music was still unmistakably Lynyrd Skynyrd Southern Rock, It was true to say that their music had become harder on this album than the opening two albums. That wasn't to say the didn't still have the ballad s they were known for but on tracks like "Saturday Night Special" they brought a heavy rock sound into play. Review of Nuthin' Fancy [Remastered] - Lynyrd Skynyrd

Chromeo show us some Fancy Footwork.

Advantages: A range of sounds and feels, very funky album, not mainstream!
Disadvantages: Only 11 tracks.

...Chromeo is an artist many of you may not be familiar with, they are not as mainstream as many artists of their genre nowadays, they are more a "specialist artist" and have no plans as yet to go mainstream. As a general introduction and background to the artist/album, I would have to say that as a huge fan of electronic/funky house/dance style music, Chromeo are for sure one of the best and most catchy artists not to have had a huge single. Their sound is very distinctive, combining modern technology and a very in-depth knowledge of music production to produce a sound rather like that of Armand van Helden and Justice. ...When I was a little girl, I always used to find Mr Kipling?s French Fancies served up at Birthday Parties. So, when it came to holding birthday parties for my own daughter, it seemed only natural to buy these for her special day. And they haven?t changed a bit. French Fancies are still as popular today as they were way back then, and can be found in most supermarkets and corner shops at the boxed cake display. ...Sunday mornings you can usually find me in my local Tescos with my mum helping her to do the weekly shop. They have a whole isle that is full of cakes. Mmmm. So many to choose from. What do I fancy this week? Thats when Mr Kiplings French Fancies caught my eye. Mr Kipling makes a whole variety of great cakes, but I thought ‘I haven’t had those for ages’ so I popped them in my trolley. French fancies as I just said are made by that genius Mr Kipling. They come in a box of 8. The box has pictures of the French fancies on the front and sides of it and it also has a see through panel on the front of the box so that you can actually see the cakes inside. I don't know what's French but they are fancy!

Advantages: Tasty and a great treat, look great!
Disadvantages: Full of sugar and you won't want to share them!

...Mr Kipling is known for making really good quality baked goods i.e. cakes and pies etc so when I can afford to I like to try some of his range. The latest thing to catch my eye was Mr Kipling French fancies. They certainly looked quite fancy and seeing as Mr Kipling has such a good reputation I guessed they're taste pretty nice and decided to buy a box from Tesco for £1.79 for a packet of 8 which is a good price, I expect to pay that for Mr Kipling and I also expect them to be good. They can be bought in most major supermarkets for a similar price so if you don't shop at Tesco then don't panic! They come in a pink box which has the name French fancies written in swirly brown writing which I think is meant to look like chocolate. Mr Kipling Takes my Fancy...

Advantages: taste lovely
Disadvantages: not enough in box and expensive

.... Mind the children with these though as the icing can get fairly sticky. With mr Kipling Quality is always good I have found but you will pay a little bit more. Each box contains 8 french fancies and cost aprox £1.98 though if you hurry the COOP has them on offer at the moment two boxes for the price of one. On the back of the box it is clearly stated that these cakes contain egg, milk, soya and wheat and each fancy contains 2.7g Fat. These cakes contain no artificial colours and flavours also. Overall I really, really love these cakes as a treat every now and again and maybe like they are at the moment on offer as it can become quite expensive to buy these a lot for what you get.
