Fast and Furious

Advantages: Plenty of action, nice effects, Vin Diesel, no need to think too hard.
Disadvantages: Not really any, unless you're expecting something that it's not.

...Last week, me and a friend decided to meet up and go to the cinema. After looking at the listings, the only thing we could come up with was Fast and Furious. I have not seen the earlier films in the franchise, but knew enough about them to know what to expect. Plenty of action, car chases, mindless fun, Vin Diesel, and brains left in the lobby. I was not disappointed, in fact it was better than I expected. The film starts with Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and others, including girlfriend Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) in Mexico, carrying out a hijack on a tanker road train. ...So here we have a farewell to the darker, Terminator stuff of Arnie's earlier career; a tasteless, clumsy mix of action, comedy and satire; one of the biggest flops of 1993 and the 1990s in general. For all the things that people have labelled Last Action Hero down the years, however, I still can't bring myself to hate it. It's hardly amazing, I'll admit, but I'd still much rather watch this than half the action films that come out these days. Advantages: Great for imaginative play, sturdy and brightly coloured, Made by fisher price

...Fisher Prices’ Big action garage is one of the best children’s garages I have seen on the market to date. Although a little pricey for a child’s toy at £54.97 it really is money well spent. The garage comes in a box with home assembly required, this was a little daunting as the instructions came in an A4 booklet! However it took roughly half an hour to assemble and was relatively easy once I got going, everything you require is included with the exception of a Phillips screwdriver. The garage itself comprises of a ground floor level with barriers and petrol pumps, the second floor level leads onto the long spiral ramp as does the top floor level. ...I have very mixed feelings towards this film and I came out of the cinema not really knowing whether I loved or hated the film. I suppose I loved the Fast and the Furious because it was action packed, unpredictable and kept me in permanent suspense. Though I hated it because there wasn't any basic storyline or plot. And I've never seen a film that has no basic storyline or plot so did I genuinely hate the film or was I just simply scared of something different to a typical film? What the Fast and the Furious really has going in its favour is that it is total non-stop action, at 1hr 40 it doesn't feel stretched or too long and director Rob Cohen seems to excel in keeping the viewers attention throughout the film. ...What more can I say Paul Walker, not only is he great looking but I think he is a great actor, too add to that you also have Vin Diesel. The film has great special effects and not that I am a huge car fan but the cars are great too. Dom played by Vin Diesel and his gang all have great cars and at night they like to show them off and race against others, when one night Brian played by Paul Walker wants to race, he does not have the money to, but offers his car if he loses. Brian looks like he is going to win, but at the last minute is beaten by Dom. Brian saves Dom from the cops so Dom takes Brian into his gang, which no one is happy with apart from his sister, who has a soft spot for Brian. Advantages: Cheap, delicious and convenient.

...of film you watch for the action and comedy but even without an outstanding story, it flies by as there's never a dull moment in this film. The film was directed by Jing Woo and definitely doesn't disappoint in terms of action and martial arts choreography. The fight scenes are also unorthodox and unique compared to other martial arts films and includes Jackie 's comedic moments, which makes them light-hearted. Stunts are performed by Jackie as he always does and involves a lot of well choreographed fight scenes, explosions, jumping off balconies, and even jumping through glass and over cars on a skateboard whilst being chased by a team of angry skateboarders with hockey sticks. A lot of the stunts seem to be smaller scale stunts, with the latter ones just as dangerous as the big ones but I think they are more impressive than more recent...

...The film is packed with action from the word go with a bit of intrigue, a story line which never really shows up, some truly gripping scenes of cars zooming through desolate streets thrown in for good measure. An undercover cop, a beautiful girl, a tough thug with a heart of gold are all mixed into a concoction, which is a product of Hollywood's pure indulgence. Reels and reels of film are used to show the excitement of dangerous racing and cars with good photography being the only saving grace. Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesal) drives on the streets of LA like he owns it. And as far as his gang is concerned he does. He spends his days putting wrench time into high performance racing cars- make and model matter less than the computer controlled fuel injection that makes them literally fly.
