...This is my first poem, please be gentle lol: FATBOY I’ve tried all those diets Honest I have I had pills and done sit-ups Even puked in the lav People point and they laugh Even push me and prod “Look at the size of that ugly fat slob” My friends are the worst They fill me with shame They call me the Fatboy Never my name Its easy to judge To look on and laugh But try being the Fatboy Its no walk in the park So what if I’m fat What’s it to you I’m a human being You are one too Yet tease and taunt me Like kids at the Zoo They wear designer labels I have one too My label is Fatboy Or Mr Fatboy to you. Darker and deeper, the Fatboy grows up

Disadvantages: might alienate pop-chart fans

...With a whirlwind of worldwide success that seems to have taken him by surprise, Norman Cook had to bite the bullet and follow up the huge global sales of his second album. With a history of blowing it once he'd achieved a certain level of success, "Gutter & Stars" is an important album for him under his Fatboy Slim guise. Credit should be given for the relatively prompt release, where many artists take years tweaking follow-ups to triple platinum albums. If you're looking for the light-hearted frippery of "Rockerfeller Skank" you won't find it - instead there's some heavyweight collaborative contributions from the likes of Macy Gray and P-funk legend Bootsy Collins. There's also the atmospheric vocals of long-dead rock icon Jim Morrison on the first single "Bird of Prey". Tracks like "Drop The Hate" and "Retox" put the meat...

Zoe, Fatboy, and the decline of marriage

Advantages: We all get to have a good laugh
Disadvantages: Maybe not so much fun for the kids...

...Most of you will know, but for those of you that don’t, Fatboy Slim is a multi millionaire DJ who got married to the radio/ tv personality Zoe Ball in August 1999. When asked to donate something recently to a charity auction, he defaced the copy of ‘Hello’ magazine that featured their wedding pics, and scrawled ‘I give it six months’ across the happy couple’s faces. Clever irony or depressing cynicism? Either way, Zoe wasn’t best pleased and withdrew the mag from the auction, showing a remarkable foresight. Not bad, not great

Advantages: Some great tracks
Disadvantages: Some weak ones, very mixed bag

...’. Another catchy song which will get the blood rushing to your head with the big beats and robotic vocals. The fantastic ‘Weapon Of Choice’ is the next song, where another robotic voice takes over and the music gets going- it has an excellent balance of both. This is a song which the Fatboy has got completely perfect. Austin Powers fans will be aware of this track, and how anyone can not like this foot-tapping number is beyond me. The ninth track is ‘Drop The Hate’ with a scratchy, underground feel which has actually grown on me a great deal. The music at times seems to be Prodigy- inspired and that is probably what has made me like the track. The vocals contrast a lot with the music – it sounds like a male jazz/r’n’b singer (no idea who it is), I think it works well. And next comes Macy...

Delve into Norman Cooks collection

Advantages: Gives Normans fans an idea of how his musical taste and talent has developed
Disadvantages: May not be to everyone's taste

...Norman Cook really first arrived on the music scene by developing his dj'ing skills on Brightons club scene at the early age of 18 whilst he was studying at the University of Brighton. A little while on in 1985 a friend of Cook's named Paul Heaton had a new guitar group called the Housemartins, but unfortunately they had just lost their bass player, so Heaton then contacted Cook who agreed to be their new bass player. The Housemartins had a few big hits such as Happy Hour and Caravan Love but by 1988 they had split up, this is where Cook then wen't off and his career started to get going. The album "The Fatboy Slim/Norman Cook collection" gives an insight into how Cook's career has progressed along with his musical tastes, for example after the split of the Housemartins Cook soon formed the group Beats International which...
