Inspiring and good natured the Fazer can cruise along happily at most speeds with descent mid range power allowing the more sedate rider to enjoy good pull from the lower end of the revs but the old Thundercat 600 4 cylinder still offers a fairly quick motor above 7k on the analogue dials for the quicker riders. Other characteristics of the motor are reasonable levels of viabration even at high revs and seemingly bomb proof mechanics. (So Far!) The gear box is ok but not perfect with a particularly knotchy change in the lower gears, minly with 1st and 2nd around the neutral gear I guess. Apparently thats normal for the box though and doesn't cause...

fazer 600

Advantages: superb handling. decent riding position.
Disadvantages: corrosion

...bought a fazer 600 as a first bike almost five year ago. Have since ridden almost 40,000 miles in all weathers inc. a trip to the Isle of Man TT races in 2003. This machine is an ideal first bike, excellent in cornering, good brakes and can be forgiving when slight mistakes are made. it's handling makes it superb on all roads including filtering through heavy traffic in town. it is also quite comfortable cruising along the motorway, with a good riding position and a good view from the mirrors. As with any bike it needs regular servicing the main points being the chain and brakes, which if not looked after will wear quite quickly. yamahas are prone to corrosion and after five years of punishment I have had to replace the down pipes of the exhaust and the front brake calipers. Therefore I recommend regular cleaning and polishing...

...Having had the exhaust on the car go and tying it up with string as you do, we had to go and get a new one. We telephoned around and you would not believe the difference in price. We were limited as to how far we could drive with it tied up so could not go to a large town and had to make do with Cirencester and a choice of three places. At Kwik fit we were quoted at "just over £100" and at ATS they said it will be £110 plus £15 if the manifold bolts and springs are hard to get off - now you can buy these in places like Halfords for £6.00. Then we telephoned the cheapest which was Ebley. They said £75.00. On arrival there we found that they had to send for it from their other branch and this would take an hour. But, if we wanted to have a look around the town they would drive us there and pick us up. Now that is service. Also...

Advantages: Brake parts insured for life of car

...a couple of negative reports, they seem to have cleaned up their image. I was greeted at the reception desk by a mechanic, complete with his trademark blue "Kwik Fit" overalls. After explaining the noise, he informed me of the Kwik Fit Brake Check. "It's a complete check of your breaking system, and the cost of the service will be deducted from any work that needs doing." I was also presented with a leaflet explaining all that had just been said. It sounded alright, so I left my car with them. The reception area and visible workshop were very clean, and well equiped to cope with any of the services that they offer. The branch I went to also sell and fit tyres, exhausts, and shock absorbers. About an hour later, I got the dreaded phone call... "Hi it's **** from Kwik Fit. ...ATS well advertised,yes, a large company, yes, good reputation, reliable and honest? Answer NO. Well that is my humble opinion. I recently owned a small citroen AX motor car and the exhaust started to corrode, blow me I thought, the exhaust was only fitted by ATS in High Wycombe less than four months ago! So, off I went with receipt back to ATS where, on the ramp I noticed that the exhaust had completely cracked in half under the manifold area. Unusual I thought, must have had a bad exhaust, maybe made on a Friday night. Anyway, I went for a walk around the shops while the fitter, who I should add was the same fitter who fitted the complete new one four months earlier, replaced the exhaust parts for a new one again. Exhausting

Advantages: Spectacular war movie
Disadvantages: Too long

...We sat through three hours of this 'epic blockbuster' and came away totally exhausted. Apparently this movie is the most expensive ever made and I can see why, with all the battle scenes and everything. I had heard that the critics had panned this movie so I was prepared for the worst, but despite the somewhat shallow storyling and the technical inaccuracies, I still quite enjoyed the movie. The story centres around a romance between a pilot Rafe McCawley played by Ben Affleck and a nurse called Evelyn, played by Kate Beckinsale. Rafe McCawley goes to help the Allies before America is involved in the Second World War and he is shot down and everyone believes him to be dead. Great 1st Road Bike for early Mid-Life Crisis

...for breakfast! All bikes need TLC much more so than cars, Yamaha's are not renowned for the quality of the finish and the Fazer is no exception, infrequent cleaning especially in winter will result in a very shabby bike in no time. The forks, exhaust down-pipes and engine especially benefit from special attention. The paint finish is not bad, but will scratch quite easily if you are not careful with keys, luggage or zips on clothing. As a first big bike its a winner, I am looking to change it for something else now, not because I don't like it, but just feel the need to try something new, maybe an Aprilla Falco or even a BMW 1150GS!...

Not to be relied upon

...ATS Euromaster are your typical Tyres, Brakes and Exhausts chains, running up and down the country. They are situated in most big towns and seem to be running alongside quick fit in popularity, however good or bad that is. I have only visited ATS once, and probably will never do again, unless I’m in desperate need of a Tyre quickly, but I won’t bother taking their advice on my car! You see, ATS tried to con me out of some of my money, something which I don’t really like someone doing to me! I needed a Tyre, just for one of the back wheels. I had already gone to National Tyres, and they had quoted me £39 for a budget tyre. (I don’t really want a super tyre for the back, my front wheels do all the work, and I have better tyres on the front). So, I went to ATS to see if they could do a budget tyre any cheaper...
