On the way there, they are going with a cadillac, "they were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert when the drugs began to take hold". This sentence always associates me for this movie. On the way they pick up an auto stopper and they trip him out that much that the poor guy had to run away when they stopped to snort coke... They are smoking joints in the car, eating LSD that's the REAL life!! At the entrance to Las Vegas they see the sign.... Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

Advantages: unconventional comedy, brilliant leads
Disadvantages: the film itself is loosely attached to the main 'plot'

...Wwhen i first borrowed this film, i was sceptical, i had always loved Johnny Depp's films and wasn't concerned that his acting wasn't going to be as great as in his other films, but reading the back made me wonder what kind of film this was going to be. i am very glad i watched it now, as this was the first film where i saw Depp get completely immersed into his character, with Benicio Del Toro playing an excellent side-kick. the movie itself is somewhat mind-blowing, even without a definitive plot, as the film itself is about Depp's character recording a motorbike race in Vegas and yet the main theme appears to be drugs and its effects.. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is a movie for those who don't necessarily need a set plot, and like their humour more thoughtful, more subtle, slightly psychadelic, yet none the less hilarious...

ELIMINATE THE FEAR AND LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS

Advantages: Gorgeous graphics, intuitive opponents
Disadvantages: Single player game a little on the short side

...I know it's odd, but the original Rainbow Six Vegas game did absolutely nothing for me; not that it was a bad game by any stretch of the imagination, there just seemed to be other games I wanted to play more at the time it was released, and thus it passed me by. To that end I'm not overly sure why I found myself loading the sequel into my Xbox 360's drive, but I am mightily glad I did. Advantages: Great insight into what drugs can do to your mind.
Disadvantages: Don't buy if you are anti-drugs. No plot.

...Unsure whether to fear or loathe… This is one of those movies that ended up in my video collection by way of a chance purchase. I knew nothing about it other than what it said on the back of the box, and that it had Johnny Depp in it. Not that I am a big fan of Mr. Depp, and not overly enamoured by films with drug culture themes. Not much Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

Advantages: The Greatest Place on Earth
Disadvantages: you have to not take the place seriously or you will hate it there

...asked at Ceasars if they had any deals, I was told "sure we have a special on our cheaper rooms this week, just $299 per night". For the more modestly sized wallet Hotels I recommend are the Sahara this was just $29 a night for 2 adults in a double room with ensuite shower bath and cable TV! Similarly at Circus Circus hotel, the one immortalised in the film Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, was a mere $39 on a Thursday night!! Even these hotels offered facilities that defy the cost of the rooms!! Giant casinos, restaurants, Pools!! Circus even had, well , a circus inside! Trapeze artists, jugglers, clowns, everything! even a McDonalds !!! These are the two pricing extremes on the main strip in Vegas, the further south you go the more expensive it is, remember that one! Places to go! Well you have your hotel, now its time to go out...

Fear it, don't loath it!

Advantages: Incredibly faithful!
Disadvantages: Maybe too faithful....

...-fuelled weekend in Las Vegas in the foul year of our lord 1971 (one for the fans there!). He recreates every facet of Thompson's jaunty dialogue and the cloying paranoia of his writing. Brilliant, simply brilliant. But.......unles you know what is going on beforehand, its unlikely that the film will help you out. Del Toro characteristically mumbles his way through the film, making most of lines anyones guess (although the subtitles make this DVD version better than the video). Locations leap around, jerking the viewer from here to there, day to night, sober to wasted. Frankly, it hurts the brain. Most of my friends who did not read it would never give the film a second chance, and thats a shame because its one of the truly original films of the 90's, capturing the spirit of the 70's from a director who by all rights should have retired in...

Disadvantages: Dissappointing!!

DIVAS LAS VEGAS BELINDA JONES I have always loved Belinda Jones books, and I have read near enough all of her books: I Love Capri, On The road to Mr Right, The Paradise Room, Out of the Blue, The Love Acadamy, Cafe Tropicana and now Divas Las Vega. The only book of hers I have left to read is The California Club (and the new book which she has coming out soon). I'm not quite sure where Divas Las Vegas comes in the line of her books, it could very possibly be one of, if not, her first book. I loved all of Jones' previous books, they have all been amazing, and have really captured my imagination, this book was very different and I must say, it isn't the best of her work. Plot: Izzy and Jamie have been best friends since they were little girls, for 20 years. And now at 27 they are still as close as ever...

Las Vegas Opulence

...For me only the Bellagio would do once we had decided to visit Las Vegas as the second stop on our honeymoon just over two years ago. The hotel featured in the Oceans' 11 film which I loved and I was particularly looking forward to seeing that famous water fountain show. The hotel is located roughly half way along the main Strip area in Vegas, it has an Italian theme and is beautiful to look at from the outside. It is set back from the street and the front of the building gently curves around "Lake Como". Providing it is not too windy, from 3pm in the afternoon the fountain show runs every fifteen minutes making for excellent photo opportunities and selling lots of postcards. Las Vegas - Wow!

Advantages: Vibrant, diverse, unique
Disadvantages: possible to lose all your money very fast

...on my share of rides. The whole city is built around extremes, extremely rich people, extremely beautiful women, an extremely vibrant atmosphere 24 hours a day, and an extremely large amount of ways to misbehave yourself, but it is definately possible to visit as an interested tourist to enjoy the sights rather than as a gambling hustler or someone intending to marry someone quickly. With the Hoover Dam and world-famous Grand Canyon no more than a coach trip away there are more reasons to visit than the flashing lights. I strongly reccomend everyone should visit Las Vegas at least once, it is truly unique, completely individual, and offers the experience of a lifetime whatever you are looking for in a trip to Nevada....
