Fun with feathers!

...When we were adopted by our handsome cat, Mew, we decided that he should have some toys to play with. It was with this in mind that we went to Pets at Home to see what was on offer there. We came back with a couple of little balls ? hubby said that they would be good as Mew hadn?t got any of his own! Actually even though they had bells inside them Mew wasn?t interested. We got a little sack of cat nip which Mew completely ignored! The real success was the Feather Chaser Wand (yes I know it sounds like some sort of sex toy but trust me on this one!). It is made by a firm called Willow?s and the full name of it is Willow's Feather Chaser Wand Catnip Toy for Cats and it cost just £2.99. It is supposedly infused with cat nip but as I said earlier this wouldn?t make a blind bit of difference to Mew as he doesn?t react to cat nip...

Sheer Luxury of a Feather Bed

...feathers are 'hypercleaned' to remove all dirt and dust, which apparently is the cause of most allergies rather than the feathers themselves, therefore they claim them to be hypoallergenic. There are a bewildering array of types of feather bed on sale and not much information on the differences between them all. They go on top of your mattress and come in all bed sizes. The depth can vary from a couple of inches to 5 (which mine is), or more and Northern Nights cotton coverings that hold the feathers have a very high thread count, so the feathers shouldn't come loose or dig into you when lying on it. Most are 95% duck feather and 5% down, although you can get goose feather and ones with more down, for increased warmth. You can choose 'baffle box', which I have - the square box design so that the feathers cannot move around or the 'channel...

My first ready bed has been very well designed it has a built in headboard designed for extra comfort, safety bolsters either side designed so the little un cant roll out, has an air filled mattress and a removable cover which is machine washable at 30 degrees. To inflates the bed is simple as it comes with its own foot pump, and believe me it only takes 4-5 mins to inflate. ...I ordered a bed from Bensons in Horwich back in February of this year, when I initially placed the order I was living in Harrogate in staff accomodation, I had spoken to my temp manager and she was OK with me having my own bed and as my room was large enough for a double I decided thats what I would go for. But due to the leave dates for the job I had the earliest I could get it delivered was going to be the 19th March almost 6 weeks away. But the deal I was getting was very good and I was in no real hurry. So I paid my deposit and waited. Then as mentioned in other places I was transferred from Harrogate to Lydd and obviously delievery to North Yorkshire was no good when I was living in Kent, so I called them as firstly asked if I could cancel the order but was told politely but firmly that it wouldn't be possible as my contract...

...I have to admitt - lm a Maeve Binchy fanatic - l have read all her books and Echos is my favourite, but lm not hear to tell you about that book, its her latest and apparently her last novel - Scarlet Feather. The 2 main characters Cathy Scarlett and Tom Feather - they attended catering college together and always had the pipe dream to run thier own catering business - suddenly it looks as though this dream may well indeed come true. The story is weaved around the lives of these two central characters and is an enchanting tale. As with all of Binchy's novels it is set in Ireland - this one is based in Dublin. She tells a tale and describes the area so well that its easy to close your eyes and picture exactly what she is describing. As usual l found the book hard to put down - in fact l read it in about 3 days - and it was her...

BRITISH EMPIRE - THE FOUR FEATHERS

Advantages: Solid remake of a well used storyline.
Disadvantages: Never quite makes the top grade, not emotive enough

...--- Combining a wide range of emotions including love, friendship, trust, heroism, loyalty and romantic rivalry this film tries to cater for all needs, but at times satisfies none (I would though recommend it as a stereotypical his and hers film as it manges to give action and a love plot). Involving a British officer who resigns his commission before going against Sudanese rebels, he is presumed a coward and is given four symbolic white feathers by his friends and fiancee. As a way of dealing with this he goes to Sudan to find his comrades and goes through prison, fights and general pain. In the end he finds most of them and obtains there forgiveness and understanding to why he resigned. Although well made the film constantly leaves you with the false belief that something really good in terms of plot, action and special effects is going to happen...
