Avent Bottles

Advantages: Look like a bottle
Disadvantages: Can leak

...In my opinion Avent bottles look like a bottle should and have excellent wear and tear value. I prefer the look of the Avent bottle compare to the tommie tippie (closer to nature) bottles as the tommie tippie teats look too natural and I am sure thats the point but I like a bottle to look like a bottle. The Avent bottle wash well in the dishwasher, however you might not want to wash them with plates or saucepans that have just cooked Bolognese or curry as they do stain the color of the teats and lids. They can leak from time to time, so make sure before you set off that you check it first otherwise you might end up with milk all over the place. These bottle also work really well with the Avent pump. Just screw on and go. The teats also come in different sizes for thicker liquids or hungrier babies. These are not cheap at around £4...

Best Bottles Available

Advantages: Babies actually seem to like them, easy to clean, lots of accessories available so they can last you for many years
Disadvantages: none

...I started using Avent bottles with my son, George, he was breastfed but I used the Avent breast pump (which you can attached directly to the feeding bottle) to express off some milk. I started him getting used to a bottle early (2 weeks old) he took to the bottle straight away. These bottles are apparently like sucking from the breast for a baby and George certainly had no problems. You can buy all sorts of accessories to use with the bottles, ie different flow rates of teat, from slow flow suitable for breastfed babies (as breastfed babies can get addicted to bottles and go off the breast as the bottle is easier to get the milk from!) training spouts and also the new magic cup which the lid will fit directly onto the bottle (like the anyway up cup, with no spills, except you can actually get the liquid out without sucking excessively...

...Tommee Tippee Closer to nature Bottles The moment I saw these bottles I thought that they looked really smart and as I had an Amazon voucher to spend I thought I would invest in a couple and see how they faired compared to the more widely used baby bottles made by Avent. I already had a few Avent bottles given to me from a friend and I just had to buy some new teats for them so comparing the two was easy. I paid around £10 for three of these Tommee Tippee bottles that hold 260ml and that price includes the postage and packaging costs, minus that it would have cost around £8. Now this compared to Avent is probably slightly cheaper as I have recent bought some of my own large Avent Bottles and I paid £15 for four from Boots, so buying Avent it works out a little more expensive. ...avent bottles in my opinion are the best around,ive tried several other bottles and teats but avent are the only ones that dont leak all over me and the baby and that he enjoys drinking from. compared to all the other leading brands i find these are definatley the best around andthey cost about the same as all the other brands so i would go for these every time. they come in two sizes 125 ml and 260 ml and are sold in most places and you can get replacement teat sfor them too. they are ok value for money but could be cheaper i think there about 8.00 for two but you only need a few so doesnt come to too much they also fit in the brest pumps so it makes it esier if your expressing milk and for easy storage. overall very good and would def recommend to anyone....

MAM Ultivent Feeding Bottle - It leaks

Advantages: Soft teat, easy cleaning, great design (look)
Disadvantages: Removable bottom part seems to wear easily causing milk to leak

...annoying as I had bought a 3-pack. Other than that, the self sealing lid for spill proof transport of the bottle is great - if it would not spill out of the bottom instead. Every bottle is equipped with a soft MAM Ultivent teat which is meant to encourage natural suckling action just like during breast feeding. My daughter - a fussy feeder - seemed to get on with the teat really well. The bottle additionally has an anti-colic valve which constantly controls the flow of air into the bottle by reacting to the demands made by baby. I find this a very important factor as unfortunately a lot of babies do suffer from colics. It also has a wide neck for easy filling and an to read scale for accurate measuring in ml/oz. The price is at around £3.99/bottle or £10.99 for a pack of 3. Replacement teats can be purchased at £2.99 per pack....

Avent Bottles, Brilliant once you know how to put them together

When I started to bottle feed my daughter I bought the 4oz bottles which just over a month later I regretted as my little girl was wanting more than 4oz a feed which meant that I had to buy 9oz bottles instead. CLEANING The bottles come apart into 4 pieces, the bottle itself, the teet. the screw ring and the lid. The bottle is very easy to clean when using a bottle brush, if you dont have one then you will find it very hard to get your hand to the bottom of the bottle to wash it out properly. As for the teet, you need to make sure that you get inside the rim of it which I found is easier to do with a sponge rather than a brush but other than that the bottles are very quick and easy to wash. She was very happy on the breast but as i had to prepare both myself and her for my return to work i started introducing the occassional bottle feed. She took to the Avent wide neck bottle instantly. She was quite obviously very happy with the flow and the teat. However, as she got a little older and i had returned to work she was put onto the bottle for all her day feeds. Due to the increased use of the bottles i began to realise that it wasn't just a the odd time that the bottle would leak from the neck when making up the feeds, but the bottles often had to be undone and done up again 4, 5, or even 6 times before the top of the bottle would seal to the neck. I just looked upon this as a slight design fault that i could live with as long as i remembered to shake...
