...So I'm sat here in my room at my halls of residence playing on my acoustic electric guitar, when it hit me..."could I review this on Ciao?"...yes, I could!! Applause Guitars are the younger brother of guitar manufacturers Ovation, who have been making trustworthy guitars for over 30 years now, and here have used this experience to make a guitar that doesn't sound like a guitar that is as cheap as this, but is a high-quality product. My model number is actually the AE 28, rather than the 64, but trust me, from what I know about Ovations and what else I can work out, there are no differences here except the numbers! I brought it in November last year from a local music retailers, who I purchased my two other guitars (both electric), so trusted them fully when they recommended me this offering, and they've not let me down...

THE best electro acoustic guitar!

Advantages: Sound, build, playability
Disadvantages: Rounded back can be awkward at first.

...If you have read some of my other guitar reviews, you will know im a bit of a collector of guitars. In fact, you could almost say its an obsession. Therfore no collection would be complete without an axe from one of the world's finest and best known acoustic producers. Ovation. I own the Ovation Celebrity Deluxe which i believe is the finest looking in the Ovation range. However, you will also know that from my other reviews, Im left handed with the guitar which narrows your choice in colour. For a Right hander, the choices include, Black, Natural, Wine, Green and a sunburst effect top and also available in vasious mapel finishes. Im afraid to say my only choice was Black. Fender's DG25S - A Lovely Little Acoustic

I'd been looking to buy an acoustic guitar for some time and my brother took me to his local music shop where he was friends with the manager. Fender Classic '50s Stratocaster

Advantages: Superb Neck
Disadvantages: Single Ply Scratchplate

...about Mexican Fenders but I have no complaints about any of the components here nor the craftsmanship. There were no loose parts and the gloss finish on the neck is perfect. The vintage tuners in particular are very good. Fair enough, I had to spend half an hour setting the intonation and getting the action set to my preferred height but that would be true of most guitars. It also pays dividends to experiment with pickup heights to achieve "that" sound and get things balanced. Close examination did reveal a slightly less than perfectly even finish on the polyester paint but that's only when you keep tilting your head close up. I am nit picking here. The one thing I really didn't like about the guitar was the single ply white scratchplate. Although this replicates the original '50s model I thought it looked very cheap (it was also only...

...Introduction I own a Fender Stratocaster 1962 reissue guitar that I purchased way back in 1989. This guitar was manufactured in Japan at some point during 1988. This guitar is something that I am pretty fond of, what with it being my first "proper" guitar, and at the time taking me the best part of a year to save up for! I purchased this guitar from Peter Cook's music shop in London and paid the sum of £299. Try buying a guitar made in Japan for that sort of money these days and you will struggle! Fender Japanese Stratocaster 1991

Advantages: Great Fender sound
Disadvantages: Dont make them anymore.

...I own a Left Handed Black Fender strat that is nearly 10 years old now. It is still in lovely condition due to the lack of play as i prefer my Aria Pro II Semi Acoustic to practice on. My Fender has a lovely sound to it. Crisp and clear. Its not like the Warm sound of my Semi or the grunt that a Gibson Les paul gives out. Mine is one of the last Japanese Fenders to come out of the factory before they switched production to Mexico. They make an even cheaper Fender now at the factory in Korea but it really is not worth bothering with. people say that there is a lot of difference between a Jap Strat and a USA one but im yet to see the proof. they both sound the same. the build Quality appears the same. ...The Epipiphone Hummingbird is my first Acoustic guitar i have not stolen off my dad. £300 is not a bad deal, seeing as the Gibson acoustics are all around £3000. The looks and finish of this guitar are very nice, i enjoy graphics on my guitar as long as they arent too loud, and this 'mockingbird' illustration is just plain pleasent. The shape of the guitar is perfect so that it can sit on your lap for hours and not ache, partly due to its incredibly light weight. The playability is pretty much perfect, the best you can get for a £300 acoustic, and times I thought I was playing an electric, the fretboard was just so slim, the strings were at perfect distance from the fretboard. The sound is not as good as the playability I must admit, probably because of the lightweight body, it is not hard enough to sustain the notes for a very long...

Fender standard telecaster

Advantages: easy to play!
Disadvantages: none!

...I purchased this online after trying it out at my local guitar shop, and I was very surprised at the standard of the guitar for the low price a paid (£280 new). Themaple neck makes it sooo easy to play, much better than rosewood, and this gitar is VERY light, allowing me to throw it around and jump about without struggling with the weight unlike many other guitars. It also stays in tune no matter how hard you play it which was also a big plus for me. The only bad point(s) I'd have to put in is that firstly it is a little short of frets (21), and preferably I would've liked to have a 22 fret guitar but hey you can't have it all. The factory set up was also a bit bad, but only needed to change the action as there was a lot of fret buzz.
