...about Mexican Fenders but I have no complaints about any of the components here nor the craftsmanship. There were no loose parts and the gloss finish on the neck is perfect. The vintage tuners in particular are very good. Fair enough, I had to spend half an hour setting the intonation and getting the action set to my preferred height but that would be true of most guitars. It also pays dividends to experiment with pickup heights to achieve "that" sound and get things balanced. Close examination did reveal a slightly less than perfectly even finish on the polyester paint but that's only when you keep tilting your head close up. I am nit picking here. ...Introduction I own a Fender Stratocaster 1962 reissue guitar that I purchased way back in 1989. This guitar was manufactured in Japan at some point during 1988. This guitar is something that I am pretty fond of, what with it being my first "proper" guitar, and at the time taking me the best part of a year to save up for! I purchased this guitar from Peter Cook's music shop in London and paid the sum of £299. Try buying a guitar made in Japan for that sort of money these days and you will struggle! Fender standard telecaster

Advantages: easy to play!
Disadvantages: none!

...I purchased this online after trying it out at my local guitar shop, and I was very surprised at the standard of the guitar for the low price a paid (£280 new). Themaple neck makes it sooo easy to play, much better than rosewood, and this gitar is VERY light, allowing me to throw it around and jump about without struggling with the weight unlike many other guitars. It also stays in tune no matter how hard you play it which was also a big plus for me. The only bad point(s) I'd have to put in is that firstly it is a little short of frets (21), and preferably I would've liked to have a 22 fret guitar but hey you can't have it all. The factory set up was also a bit bad, but only needed to change the action as there was a lot of fret buzz. Fender Japanese Stratocaster 1991

Advantages: Great Fender sound
Disadvantages: Dont make them anymore.

.... Being Left handed reduces the choices when it comes to guitars as most guitars you see hanging in the shops are righthanded. That is the Right hand plucks the strings and the Left hand does the figerwork on the fretboard on a Right handed guitar and vice versa on a Left hand guitar. You find you can get most models of guitar but are limited in the colour scheme to Black or White. Fender Jap strats were limeted like this and that is why I have a blach Strat with a White pick Guard. If you are thinking about making the jump from a Squire Strat upwards, Move towards a USA copy as I dont know what the Mexico Strats are like. Although You cant take anything away from my Jap strat!...

Fender American Standard Stratocaster : The Tone

Advantages: Tough, durable, wide variety of tones, ergonomic body, fast neck
Disadvantages: Hum and noise due to stock single-coil pickups

...Bought a maple-neck (with black plastic dot markers) sunburst Am Std Strat from Bentley Music in Kuala Lumpur in 1992 for RM 1 670. came with a rectangular hardshell case (not form-fit) with screw-type SKB hinges and lock (padlock not provided). Had to go through 7 guitars until I found 1 that had a flaw I could correct (faulty volume pot). This goes to say that all the guitars I tested had unpardonable flaws such as poor string-polepiece alignment (you lose power and definition), ill-fitting neck-pocket, badly-seated nut (you lose tone and sustain) or scratchy/poorly tapered volume and/or tone controls (makes the guitar unsuitable for live gigs until these are replaced). This should not be the case with a fine company such as Fender. Quality control must be tightened, in my humble opinion. As mentioned before, out...

Advantages: Fender strat's are the stereotypical electric guitar!
Disadvantages: Quality can be poor with large amps

The headstock and machine heads: The always remembered headstock of the fender is very typical and looks very good, however i always think that this guitar is made for 'old men', when compared with the ibanez guitars there is a clear difference, that the ibanez guitars are much more appropriate for heavy metal addicted teenagers. These fenders are made for old men who listen to indy music. hehe The machine heads are very secure and sustainable. They offer an excellent tuning capability, and make the guitar stay in tune for very long, in comparison i have an ibanez rg350ex, which hardly stays in tune for very long at all compared to my fender!
