There are many reasons which are explained in Specific Criteria below: How well constructed is it? The layout and construction of the guitar is very, very good. It being a Fat strat, means that it has an extra humbucker pickup to make it sound alot more 'clear' (very difficult to explain, but its deffinatly an advantage) There is a fairly large gap between the strings and fretboard to make the strings ring more efficiently, so its great for begginers. ...The american deluxe series of strats offer great ballance of modern conveniences such as noiseless pickups, a modern C shaped neck and construction techniques that all in all offer an extremely well playing and great sounding instrument. I had personally bought an american deluxe simply as a "blues guitar" however it didn't take me long to fall in love with the instrument. Whilst the samarium cobalt noiseless pickups from Bill Lawrence do not offer the same glassy bite that the traditional (and noisy) pickups do they offer a thick yet very distinctive tone that is rich and dynamic with all but the highest of trebble intact. This is a fairly faithful replica of a 1950s strat but it is not an artificially aged, full-blown relic. The most important thing you need to know about the Classic '50s strat is the neck. The "soft V" neck is completely different from modern slim, fast necks. It's probably more suited to rock and blues than any heavy metal pyrotechnics. It does take a wee bit of getting used to. First impressions are that this is a "boat" neck, it feels huge under your hands. Advantages: classic sound and very easy to play

...When it comes to the standard strat, you know that you're going to get a well rounded, professional standard guitar. When it comes to playability, nothing really beats a strat. The neck feels comfortable in your hand and frets aren't too exposed so you can play as fast as you want. Advantages: easy to play!
Disadvantages: none!

...to fit maybe a seymour duncan hot rails humbucker (single coil) size in the bridge as this really does sound nice. But for every other style this guitar has a great sound. Much, and i mean MUCH better than that of a strat. Unlike gibsons this guitar does not feel cheap, and the quality is a high standard. But that is down to personal opinion really isn't it! I have had no problems with this guitar whatsoever and it is very reliable and has never, ever let me down while gigging (never had to use my backup :D).
