Ferris Holidays Review
Advantages: Cheap. Affordable.
Disadvantages: Journey - but you get what you pay for.
...Ferris Holidays are a coach holiday company who specialise, mainly, travelling down to the southern coast of Spain. The Costa Brava. If you are looking for a cheap 5 star hotel holiday deal, you've come to the wrong place. But Ferris Holidays do offer the cheapest enjoyable holidays you can find. Believe me.
Ferris Holidays have a fleet of today-modern coaches which the option of Platinum or normal-Executive. With the Platinum travel you have to pay £15 extra per person but it's well worth the money as the extra leg room and extra reclining seats cater well for sleeping. No, the seats don't recline 90 degrees as a posed to a normal bed but they do recline enough.
There are toilet facilities on board the coach but due to lack of service stops allowing drivers to empty the toilet, drivers ask passengers to take full advantage...

Ferris Coach Holiday review
Advantages: No flying, Cheap
Disadvantages: Long journey, limited destinations
...Ferris Coach Holiday Experience
A little bit about the trip first, these trips to the Costa Brava are great for those wanting a good deal or those scared of flying. They are actually not as daunting as people think when you hear ?Up to 24 hours of travelling?.
The coaches are great whether you choose the standard or the executive, the executive is well worth the extra. Very comfortable reclining seats, loads of leg room, drop down trays and flat screen TV?s on board.
DVD?s are played throughout the journey with the latest starting at around 9.30pm, which ends around 11.30pm. At 12.00 midnight you can then recline your chairs, but please check with those behind as some people ended up wearing their drinks that were on the trays in front.
The coaches are double decker but are not really that much taller than a standard coach...

Ferris Holidays - WYSIWYG!!!
Advantages: Cheap, value for money and good if you hate flying
Disadvantages: Lengthy journey, don't expect 4* luxury
...Ferris don't claim to be a luxury holiday company - they offer a fair holiday for a fair price. What you see is what you get, hence my title!
We have travelled with them several times, when we have wanted a cheap short break or have been too broke to afford to fly!
They compare very favourably with other coach travel companies - a few years back they had the unfair reputation of being nicknamed 'Hard Shoulder Holidays', as this is where you mainly saw them, but in the five or six years that we have travelled with them the worst that has happened to us was a burst water tank which dampened our luggage and meant that we couldn't use the on-board loo!
Prices in the current brochure start at a very reasonable £84 for a 6 day, 3 night SC holiday, where Ferris choose your accommodation. This short break means that you leave on Friday...

Ferris Holidays Review
Advantages: Cheap holiday to the sun
Disadvantages: Coach journey may be too long - but what do you expect going on a coach?
...I recently - a few months ago - wrote a review about Ferris Coach Holidays. Some things about the journey have changed that could effect some peoples thoughts about wanting to go with Ferris.
Journey there:
OK as usual, you will get picked up at your selected pick-up-point and then you might experience extra pick-up-points to pick up more customers. Normally, during peak times, the coach will be full but sometimes it's not always full. Once the crew have picked up all their customers you will make the journey down to Folkestone to catch the EuroTunnel crossing to Calais - normally making one scheduled stop at services prior to the EuroTunnel crossing - (Ferris don't use the Ferry crossing due to rising costs and they find the EuroTunnel cheaper and reduces travelling times). The EuroTunnel crossing takes around 25-35 minutes...

Ferris Holidays Fair Deals
Advantages: Good value for money Holidays
Disadvantages: Wanting to go to often
...Just finished another holiday with this company, and once again looking forward to the next holiday already.
They may seem a cheap and cheerfull holiday but we found the whole holiday excellent value for money.
Ferris buses pick up points run the length of Britian so there is always a pickup point relatively close to home.
You can either travel on the Double Decked Executive Coaches, or for an extra £15.00 per head opt for the Luxury of a Platinum Coach with extra leg room, reclining chairs etc: Both types have a separate smokers room with extractor fans, so not to bother any other passengers.
Our Holiday was to the resort of Calella in Spain, on the Costa Brava, an approximate journey time of 26 hours, Yes this is a long time to be travelling, but as this was our second time, we were better prepaired, Our tip would be, to...

Brittany Ferries ~ hotels and holidays too!
Advantages: excellent customer support and booking advice service
Disadvantages: not a lot for 'tweenagers' to do on board the ferries
...Brittany Ferries is not just a ferry operator, but also a holiday and hotel booking service.
~~ Booking ~~
Somehow, no matter how hard we try to plan things in advance we always do things at the last minute. Last July we decided, rather late in the day, that we?d like a ?little holiday? in France. This was to be our third short break in France, having previously travelled to Caen and Cherbourg, both from Portsmouth.
This time we chose St Malo, and gave ourselves a week to arrange it and get there!
Brittany Ferries offers what appears to be a great online booking service, trouble is we were too late to use it and I had to use the phone to make the booking, referring to the website to find details of hotels. We wanted bed and breakfast somewhere we could use as a centre for a quiet sightseeing family holiday that we could...

Great Value Spanish Holidays
Advantages: Low cost holidays to Spain
Disadvantages: Travel is by coach..you must be prepared to travel 24 hours to get to your destination.
...Ferris Holidays are quite a small holiday company and as you travel on their own fleet of coaches this makes the holidays very reasonable.
For example, there are five in my family, two adults and three children. Last year we had a weeks holiday, 'All Inclusive' at a spanish resort for £1,000 . I challenge you to find cheaper!
The company provide not only all inclusive but also full and half board holidays and self catering.
On the day of your holiday you join the coach at a designated pick up point. Coaches can be single or double decker and for an extra payment you can travel using their 'Royal Class' coaches. These have fewer seats so more leg room.
All coaches have a toilet, but really this should only be used if desperate! The coaches stop every four hours for comfort breaks.
There are also stewards that travel with you...

Ferry Across The Solent!
Advantages: Reliable and quick.
Disadvantages: The price is a variant!
...To get to the Isle of Wight there is only one way..... by boat. There is no tunnel or bridge so everyone has to get a boat or if taking a car then the only option is by ferry. The other half and I decided to spend a three night break on the island, and although the island itself is a great place to relax and unwind, I did kind of feel that the ferry companies were getting the last laugh on us.
About three weeks before the trip, when the Isle of Wight was chosen as the destination for our break, we looked up all options for taking a car across the water. We could travel from Southampton or Lymington using the Red Funnel or using Wightlink from Portsmouth. Although this was more than Red Funnel in cost of the ticket it was far more convenient for us to travel from Portsmouth than to have to drive a further 20 miles to Southampton to...

Ferry of success
Advantages: good value for money, clean easy to book and relaxing atmosphere
Disadvantages: i cant think of any
...Norfolk Ferries
This is the first time i have used Norfolk Ferries as previously i have only used P&O ferries from Dover to Calais but in this occasion i was going from Dover to Dunkerque, 2 hours long. Norfolk as i know have been around for about 4 years and we came across them online as the cheapest deal. The website was really easy to use and we booked the same morning as our trip. I thought the price of £40 for a return trip journey for 2 people and a car was pretty good. Well condsidering prices of other ways eg- Euro Tunnel this was a cheap opition.
We decided to travel in the early hours of the morning as this was cheaper and the roads on each side would be less busy. On or way their we caught the 2am Ferry and the way back it was the midnight ferry. There were not many people thereforth catching the same as we did...

Pentland Ferries - the cheap and cheerful way to get to Orkney
Advantages: The cheapest and quickest way to get to Orkney by car, modern vessel, wonderful scenery en route.
Disadvantages: Gills Bay terminal is a bit of an eyesore at the moment and the toilets there are a mess.
...Ciao Review ? Pentland Ferries
The cheap and cheerful way to reach Orkney by car or on foot
For many years, the most popular way to reach Orkney (and prior to 2001, the only way via car) was via P&O Ferries? service from Scrabster (a couple of miles outside Thurso) across to Stromness. Even today it remains probably the most utilised ferry, now operated by Northlink, which is owned by David MacBrayne Ltd., which also owns the more famous Caledonian MacBrayne (CalMac) ferry company. Northlink receives yearly subsidies to run this lifeline service to Orkney, yet from 2001 the Scrabster-Stromness service has had competition in the shape of a small, local family-run outfit, which offered a shorter and cheaper ferry crossing, albeit using older vessels ? and one that does not receive any financial help whatsoever from the Government...
