...As those who have read my travel reviews in the past may guess, I'm not really one for beach holidays - my idea of a perfect holiday is to spend a decent amount of time exploring places that are culturally very different from the UK. Friends of mine had been to Marrakesh towards the beginning of last year and had returned with photos and stories galore of haggling in local markets, watching street performers and sampling authentic Moroccan cuisine.
This all appealed...but I wanted somewhere more authentic, less "touristified". I still ended up going to Marrakesh as part of my Morocco trip (review coming soon) but further research convinced me that the city of Fès was a must-visit.
A BRIEF BACKGROUND
Fès is Morocco's third largest city, and the oldest of the Moroccan imperial cities (the others being Marrakesh, Rabat and Meknes...

Review of Fès (Morocco)
Advantages: dream place, good food Disadvantages: not easy to find, risotto
...Ciao ragazzi, I would like to introduce you this dream place. It's not in Marrakech city, but outside, in the exclusive Palmerie. Now, you can arrive there by yourself or by taxi.
By yourself: you have to take the street for Fes. Drive straight and you will find on your right the Metro warehouse, it's big, it's impossible don't see it. Ok, you will drive a few meters and turn in the firts street on your left and after in the firt on your right. You will find the entrance of the resataurant on your left. No parking problems.
By taxi: Not all the taxidrivers know where the restaurant L'Abyssin is located, in this way is much more better to tell them the name of the hotel Palais Rhoul. When you will arrive ask to the taxidriver his phone number, because you will not find taxi after dinner.
When you arrived there, you will enter in...
...Up until a couple of months ago I looked at two things when purchasing a vacuum cleaner; price and wattage. Price was the driving factor to be honest, the power came a poor second, and I looked at it, as a cleaner is a cleaner is a cleaner.
I had heard of dyson cleaners but the price was a huge obstacle to me ever getting one. My partner tried to explain how much better the dyson cleaners were compared to my cheap offerings. If the truth is to be known it was the chance to never have to change a vacuum cleaner bag again that really persuaded me that the new vacuum cleaner would be a dyson. Not forgetting that the cheaper ones I had purchased in the past had hoses that tended to fall apart all too quickly, they lost suction when the bag started to get half full and where awkward to use.
I guess that I was a victim of FES (false economy...

Advantages: cheap and so many fascinating things to see Disadvantages: can get alot of hassel of stall owners in marrakesh
...visit this town I'd recommend visitng the town in an evening because you will get the feel for how relxed this place really is. All the mums will bring their children out to run around in the evening heat while they all stand around and talk.
FES
To get here we took the coach to Casablanca, (which we decided not to stop in as it looks very commercialised and not really what we had come to see) and then got on the train to Fes. If your going to travel by train try to avoid travelling in rush hour as we did and we never had a seat for the full four and a half hours and at one point I had an old lady almost sitting on my knee, not nice!! However most of the locals are very nice and chat away to you.
In Fes we stayed in the YHA hostel, which I would highly recommend. The lady and gentleman that run the place are really friendly, can advise...

Review of Zagreb (Croatia)
Advantages: A beautiful place, lots of culture, loads of sites Disadvantages: not alot to do for younger people i.e nightlife
...of the mosque is magnificant asit is built right by the sea. The mosque is also open to non-Muslims it gives you a wonderful insight into the Islamic culture.
I also visit the capital city of Morroco, Rabat which is where many Morrocan kings have been buried.
Merknes is a good place stop so you can get used to the Morrocan way of life.
Fes is market town which sells authentic morrocan pottery and items which are worth haggling for as they give you a wonderful feel of Morocco so make excellent souvenir.
Marrakech is an a wonderful place and it was where spent our last nights in Morroco It is quite a busy city and there is an awful lot of noise and traffic
There are still many things to see which are very interesting and with a few great aspects corners such as the Jardin Majorelle which is owned and designed by Yves St Laurent.
Eating in...

Review of General: Morocco
...not dirt cheap they are still very low priced, and good value, nearly all the books in there are half price to what you would pay for them in the shops so you are saving money even without the offer. They do charge postage and packing fes which are usually about £2.95,but with most books going for about £9-£10 your still saving money.
~All the books in the club are mostly horror, or thrillers, but they always send you adverts for other styles of books such as romance or gardening, and if you choose one of them it will count as part of your commitment to the club.
~Well i've prattled on enough about the club, why not join and see for yourself....
Advantages: It's cheap, fascinating, beautiful and not even that far. Disadvantages: The hassle.....
...it is also definitely worth making central Morocco a longer trip. I would dearly love to return and see some of the North of the country: Fes and the tanneries there, more of the coast line and the Rif mountains. Maybe next time huh!...
