...The Time Tunnel is a late 1960's Sc-Fi series from the legendry producer Irwin Allen. It follows the journey through time of 2 men caught up in a military experiment. In each episode they explore a period in time, having been on the sinking of the Titanic,American civil war etc theres a bit of an educational content to each show. In typical sc-fi tradition each episode starts and finishes with a cliffhanger to keep you tuned. The acting is a bit woody and the plots very predictable but it's good fun. For sc fi fans see one and you'll want to see them all. Only currently being shown on satellite, think The Sc-Fi Channel have it on at the moment.... Read review

Advantages: Excellent for sixties/seventies anoraks, some good sci fi specials
Disadvantages: Too much "Bubble headed boobies!!!"

...At first look the Sci-Fi channel UK seems to be a fans dream come true. 24 hour science fiction programming? Excellent!! Or is it?? If you like sixties and seventies sci-fi then it is perfect. If you prefer your sci-fi more upto date then stick to Sky 1. I will admit that there are some good films and programs on, especially the occasional 'Making of..' documentary. A person can only take so much 'Lost in Space' or 'six million dollar man' etc. What spoiled it for me was reading the latest issue of the official 'Sci-fi channel' magazine. This is an american publication and included a program listing for the sci-fi channel USA. What a difference! Brand new programming, coming soon the new DUNE series! new series based on the Invisible Man (Reading the article it looks good!!) I suppose if we wait long enough we will get... Read review

Advantages: easy of use, MD recording, sound quality and so much more
Disadvantages: price, lacking MD long play

...This hi-fi really is the bee’s knees; it offers practicality functionality and great styling on top. As usual Sony have not missed anything on this hi-fi. It is a bit pricey but then you get a lot for your money. The hi-fi offers the usual great sound quality from Sony; you can record from the CD to the MD easily, with only two clicks. Hit the CD - MD sync button, and then play and your recording your favourite album onto MD. If your CD has track and title information then this is copied to the MD as well. Now your probably thinking that most hi-fi's with MD do that, but what sets this hi-fi apart from all the rest is the simplicity it is to record and the amount of input ports there are. It offers an optical input on the back of the hi-fi but the best bit is that it has a line in port on the front. With this you can plug in any source... Read review

...Richer Sounds is a Hi-Fi shop with outlets across the UK as well as a mail order facility. It offers quite a small selection of hi-fi equipment but all items are very reasonably priced. They have a website, a bi-monthly catalogue, shops and numerous adverts in top hi-fi magazines (namely What Hi-Fi). To get a real bargain from Richer Sounds it is well worth checking out all of the above places because they often advertise different prices in each place, normally the What Hi-Fi advert has the cheapest, sometimes 50% of in store prices. If you see an advert with a special price you have to take the ad to the shop with you to receive the deal. Generally Richer Sounds is an excellent place to get a Hi-Fi separates system on a budget. I have only one qualm with richer sounds, many items advertised at reduced prices are very hard to get hold... Read review

...I looked for a mini disc hi-fi for ages as I had a personal mini disc player and had all my music collection on mini discs. I came across this one and immediately ordered it and I am completely happy with it. This hi-fi includes FM/AM radio, mini disc player, cd player and a tape deck on top. The speakers are made of a beautiful wood and give out a great sound. The display is lighted by a bright orange which is clear and easy to make out. The remote control has all the commands you need and although it is a touch on the big side it is great to switch between cds and mini discs without even moving. The instructions included are also easy to use and follow with helpful diagrams. There are the usual options like repeat and shuffle and a handy clock displayed on the front screen. Advantages: Excellant entertainment.
Disadvantages: If you're scared of the dark, you'll hate it!

...Excellant take off of all "alien" type films. This is a type of "Blair Witch Project" sci fi. The special effects are good, but there's not much of them. The acting is top class, especially Van Diesel as the caged murderer on the loose. Okay, the plot has been used dozens of times, something goes wrong with spaceship, ship has to crash land on a strange planet and the passengers find they are not alone on the planet (see Red Planet). However, this is a far superior sci-fi/thriller/horror than the others that have tried this format, like "Red Planet" (except "Aliens, of course). There are a few good twists and you'll most probably be surprised as to who survives. For a low budget sci-fi film this is a good 100 minutes of entertainment, just don't switch the lights off when watching.... Read review

...I have owned my Kenwood Hi-fi for over 10 years now, I paid £999.00 which was is a lot of money for a hi-fi, but it has definately been worth every penny. The sound quality today is just as good as it was 10 years ago, it has never had any faults. The range of features is excellent, I particularly like the CD to tape editing function which intelligently puts the cd's tracks onto tape so that no songs get chopped off when the tape reaches the end. The range of external connections is amazing, you can connect this hifi your TV, PC, etc, this is very useful. I would definately recommend a kenwood hifi to anybody that requires a reliable quality hifi.... Read review

...With good Sci-Fi movies in such short supply lately, I had high hopes for Supernova, which looked pretty good in the trailers. I couldn't have been more disappointed. This movie is recycled sci-fi cliches from start to finish. The story has been used a thousand times (Alien, Event Horizon, etc.) and is rehashed here in a very sloppy way. The acting is okay, but very cold and lacking character development of any type. The SFX are awful, and only add insult to injury in a genre where SFX are so crucial. I could have fallen asleep many times during the movie, if it wasn't for all the caffeine I was consuming to stay awake! The story is bad, acting is bad, and effects are bad - what's left? Do not pay to see this movie!... Read review

...This is without doubt my favourite satellite channel. I am completely addicted to anything to do with horror or sci-fi. That is why I love this channel so much. The sci-fi channel starts at 8.00am and continues until 4am. The whole channel is dedicated to sci-fi and horror. This channel shows at least two good horror films a day for example Friday the 13th, The dentist, and Progeny, obviously there are a lot more, but it would take forever to list them all. The channel also features many fiction and non-fiction programs. For example, the Six million-dollar man, The Incredible Bulk, Timecop, Swamp Thing and the Bionic Woman. The more serious programs are Amazing Stories, Mysteries, Magic and Miracles, Sightings and Sci-Focus. This channel is included in sky family package which cost £13 a month, this is an excellent channel... Read review

Advantages: Does show sci-fi
Disadvantages: treats sci-fi shows badly!

...Not really about BBC2 but BBc in general. Why do they treat sci-fi fans as a minority? I mean loads of people like to watch sci-fi yet the BBc acts like they don't matter. Whenever sport comes along its always sci-fi that is removed yet in the world cup Eastenders was still shown when the footie was on! We aren't all satisfied with Star Trek repeats, we need to see something new! It can't be lack of budget, I mean they payed loads for footie didn't they? For the moment they treat Farscape well but how long befire it, like all others before it is put aside and then only those with Sky will get to see it? I guess that's it, I've said my piece....
