Fiat Bravo 1.2 16v

Advantages: cheap to run, stylish
Disadvantages: underpowered

...I have owned my Fiat Bravo for just over 2 years now and bought it second hand on a Y plate. Unfortunately Fiat seem to have a bad reputation- I think due to their older cars, you should ignor this as the newer cars are excellent. I have done 50000 miles since I had the car (in 2 years), and the only parts I have replaced are the exhaust ( standard wear and tear), and a little electronic box called the coil pack (the old car equivalent to the points in the distributor ) as the new cars have electronic ignition. Even when these parts went the car never actually broke down- it has never been off the road due to a problem. Considering Fiat's reputation I think this is quite good. It is a nice car to drive and the handleing is very good (for a standard car), I am comparing this against a Toyota MR2, my last car and my dream car! POWER...

The new Fiat Bravo 1.6 Eco

Advantages: Excellent styling, fuel economy and emissions.
Disadvantages: Narrow rear end means a small back window and reduced boot space.

...I have recently purchased the new Fiat Bravo 1.6 Eco diesel. The eco referrs to the fuel effiency and emmissions that some new Fiats have. Firstly the fuel effiency is quoted by Fiat as 65 mpg on the combined urban/extraurban cycle. Although the Eco is good, I have only managed low 50's, however that is still extremely efficient. A tank of diesel so far has averaged at about 550 miles, pretty good. The real bonus of the Eco however is the low emissions. With C02 emissions of 119ppm the Eco is in only the second category which means none of the recently introduced forecourt tax and at current rates only £35 a year after that. The styling of the new Bravo is excellent, it looks good and you feel good driving it. The interior is well made and looks much better than the older style Bravo, in fact almost every aspect of the new model...

Fiat Bravo 1.8 HLX

Advantages: Cheap, lively engine and handling, good brakes.
Disadvantages: Space is not as good as others in class.

...I have owned this 1999 Fiat Bravo 1.8 HLX for about 1 year. I bought it for £1000 with 60K miles on the clock and a full service history. I have covered 15K miles. The car is very well equipped with electric windows, mirrors & sunroof, heated seats and a decent stereo. The interior is functional if not very exciting, and reasonably spacious although the headroom in the back isn't too great - due to the sloping roof. The 113bhp engine performs well, accelerating briskly and making overtaking comfortable. The car handles well in all conditions although it does understeer, especially in the wet, when pushed hard. The brakes are very good and the ABS has helped a couple of times in the wet when i thought the wheels would lock under very hard braking but the car just stopped without any drama. Despite what a lot of people say about Fiat...

Review of Fiat Bravo 1.8

fiat bravo HLX 1.8 16v

Advantages: Good looks, lots of space, fast & fun to drive
Disadvantages: poor dealer network

...The bravo HLX is a hidden gem overlooked by many, It`s standard equipment is very good with little touches of luxury you simply wouldn`t expect to find on a car in this class, like the heated front seats, something i found very usful on cold winter mornings making the trip to work that bit more bearable. The standard ABS brakes, air bags and side impact bars make a very safe and in the event of an accident there is an auto fuel cut-off valve for fire safty. On older models before 1999 an electric sunroof is standard after this it`s replaced by air conditioning also electric windows,e/heated and ajustable door mirrors and a good stereo all add up to a very good car indeed. The sports interior is excellent and a 115bhp engine gets you where you want to go with ease,I managed 130mph on the motorway and 0-60 is around 10sec but...

Review of Fiat Bravo 1.8

In defence of the Bravo, which deserves its name.

Advantages: Excellent speed and acceleration, looks great, feels great.
Disadvantages: Engine faults are fairly common.

...up from the hospital in the Fiat. I was impressed from the minute we drove out of the carpark, obviously this car is miles ahead of my old Sunny so that goes without saying. I have been driving this car for over a year now and I feel like I know it like the back of my hand, which I say gives me more than enough experience to write a defensive review on it. I first started driving this car on an island where the speed limit was 40mph and the roads are short and bendy, which suits the Bravo just fine. You could quite happily drive around all day in 4rth, changing gears every other second and the Bravo wouldn't bat an eyelid. The clutch on this car is so smooth you hardly feel you're changing gear at all, except for the very satisfying growl made you accelerate. One thing that i feel deserves particular notice is the gearstick. I...

A fantastic Fiat

Advantages: Cheap to run, cheap to insure good looking
Disadvantages: Injectors do tend to go and depreciates quicly

...I have to totally disagree with the previous persons comments. I have had 5 Fiats since i started driving and three of them have been Bravos. The styling is fantastic, there is nothing like the Bravo, it is in a league of its own. I commute approximately 500 miles a week so I need a decent car for me to be able to do this. It handles brilliantly, very responsive steering, and is very nippy too, I have no problems on the motorways! I find the drive very comfortible, you can also adjust the steering column and the height of the drivers seat. It is always good to find a decent garage, the only problem I have had with this car is that i have had to replace 3 injectors. Which isnt bad considering i have done almost 30k in less than two years. MOT wise - flew straight through it no problems!! I would totally ignore...

Fiat Nightmare

Advantages: Frisky Engine, Nice Looks
Disadvantages: Bad Build Quality, Depreciation

...happen to lose the ones you have. They are very expensive to replace so be sure to find out if this is included if you decide to purchase a Bravo This car has not just put me off Fiat Bravos but it has put me off buying any sort of European car (except the Germans) as i have had enough of plastic dashboards and bad electrics. The only redeeming feature of this car now is really the cheap second hand value and cheap running costs (without the maintainance)...

Dont buy any fiat..... no, seriously!

Advantages: Urm... relatively cheap to buy?
Disadvantages: I dont want to waste my life listing them

...Put it this way, I bought this car from a dealer and 5 miles down the road... maybe less, the engine blew up!!! No kidding. I first saw the car after my last engine had blown with the head gasket. I thought the Fiat Bravo 1.4 sx was cool. I wanted something sporty looking without the big price tag. I thought Id died and gone to heaven when I got the fiat - swirly dash, cool headlights, tail lights and smooth lines. The 1.4sx was the cheapest I could find other than nasty cheaper looking 1.4 s's. (Sx has colour bumpers and electric windows and sunroof). I got mine from a dealer, seemed fine at the time, it drove well, stiff-ish suspension that i respected and smooth sound with really soft luxourious seats! The day I got it, smoke started blowing out of the bonnet and exhaust every 30 seconds. On a motorway with 10 billion other...

Review of Fiat Bravo 1.4

Bravo indeed

Advantages: Easy to drive, economical
Disadvantages: Interior could be better finished, that rear seat.

...My first new car for 15 years, and quite a contract to my old Citroen Xantia - an expensive mistake which cost a fortune to maintain, while its value dropped like a stone. The family having grown up we don't need a big car any more. I originally wanted a Punto , we hired one in Italy last year and was delighted with it, but my better half preferred the extra space and comfort of the Bravo. It is very light and responsive to drive, the 1240 16v engine delivers the power when needed, but is also very economical, returning an overall 48 mpg in the 3 months I have had the car. Comfort is pretty good, even in contrast to the Citroen, although you are more aware of the road surface. Equipment level is a sensible comprimise, not too many expensive and rarely-used gimmicks that add to the list price, and burn holes in your pocket when they...

Friendly Fiat dealers for all your needs

Advantages: friendly, cheap (for a car dealers), do as they say
Disadvantages: depends on the car, sometimes they are visited quite often

...Well, I had better begin by claiming an interest here, hadn't I? I was first introduced to St Leonards Motors of Hastings by my brother, who at the time was working in their sales department. In total, my family has bought several cars from them, including: 1 Fiat Bravo 1 Fiat Punto 1 Fiat Uno 2 Fiat Tipos 1 Fiat Croma So you can see that we have bought over the entire range, both new and used. I can seriously say that, with my hand on my heart, they are a very friendly, not in the least bit pushy or overbearing, and accommodating dealership. As you drive up Harley Shute Road from the A259 and turn left at the roundabout at the top, you zip down a little hill (hills, oh how I miss hills now that I live in Lincolnshire- you see fell walkers queuing to go over a speed hump round here!) and turn right into Churchwood Drive. You...
