Cherry Tunes To The Rescue!

Advantages: Soothes A Sore Throat

...Well the Cold that I've started suffering from seems to be getting a little bit better so I decided to visit my local Spar this afternoon and couldn't resist stocking up on some of my old childhood favourites. By the time I left the shop my wallet was some five pounds lighter and clutching within my grasp, amongst a couple of grocery items, I had a picked up a packet of Tunes, a packet of Lockets and a packet of Fisherman's Friends throat lozenges. The latter I have already reviewed back in August in my review "A Friend In Need is A Friend Indeed!" so it is the Tunes that I have decided to review today, although it is a fair assumption that the Lockets may well feature in a forthcoming review very soon. Tunes - not for colds!

Advantages: Cheap, nice flavour
Disadvantages: not really medicated, did not help my sore throat!

...Well, as I said on my review of Lockets throat sweets, I woke up this morning with a wicked sore throat and blocked nose so first port of call was to get some throat sweets. I always go for Lockets but they did not have any at the station this morning so I had to buy a packet of Tunes. They were about thesame price as Lockets, 64p but they came in a cute little carboard packet, almost like a cigarette packet. I went for the strawberry menthol flavour although there is also blackcurrent to choose from. There are about 10 sweets in a packet. Now I understand why I always buy lockets over any other type of throat sweet. These Tunes did not seem to be medicated at all. They are hard, boiled type sweets with no soothing centre or anything. They say on the packet that they are menthol flavour sweets with real fruit juice and sweeteners. As...

Keep youself in tune!

Advantages: Handy box, good for lubricating the throat
Disadvantages: Not cheap considering the amount of sweets

...I bought some Cherry Tunes about a month or two ago and have just discovered them on top of the microwave and ergh they've all got white speckles on now! But back to the topic in hand... Cherry Tunes are nice tasting and definitely work for lubricating sore throats. I know this because I had only eating half the box before my throat was clear. iTunes - Compulsory download for use with your new device!

Advantages: Easy to use, lots of free items.
Disadvantages: Large file to download, time consuming to add albums.

...iTunes is provided free of charge to download from the Apple website (apple.com/itunes). It is specifically designed for users of the Ipod, Iphone etc and is quite simple to download and install. The size of the download (current version 8.0) is quite large and will therefore take a considerable amount of time to download (was around 10 hours on my rubbish internet modem connection) and this can be a downside if you have just purchased an iPhone and you are all excited to get on it as soon as possible! iTunes 7.0 is the version that I am reviewing here as it is the current most up to date version and therefore the one that I use. iTunes can be used as a library to store all of your music and therefore you can uploads CDs to this.
