I have to be honest, I did try to read 'Sex And The City', but after three attempts I gave up. I hate to start a book and not finish it (in fact this is probably only the third time I've done it), but I just couldn't get interested in the characters or get used to the mish-mash style of the chapters, despite the fact that I have watched, and often enjoyed, the TV series. So, it was with a certain amount of reluctance that I started to read 'One Fifth Avenue' and wow, what a difference! Number One, Fifth Avenue is a coveted address in New York. It is a grand and intricate old house with bucket-loads of history that has now been split into various-sized apartments...

The Fifth Element review

Advantages: Good story, wacky costumes, gorgeous visuals

...The Fifth Element is a sci-fi fantasy action film written and directed by Luc Besson (who also directed Leon) and stars Bruce Willis, Gary Oldman, Ian Holm and Milla Jovovich. Set 300 years in the future, cab driver and former special forces soldier Korben Dallas (Willis) is going about his day when a woman comes crashing through the roof of his taxi and asks for help. He obliges, and loses the heat that were following her. He soon finds out that she is the fifth element, a perfect being who has been sent here to save the universe. Every 5000 years, when the planets are in alignment, a great evil appears, and will kill every living thing it comes across. So the fifth element, along with the other four elements (which are stones with lines carved into them) have to travel to a special site in Egypt which focuses their power...

There's a Place Called Ocean Avenue

Advantages: Some strong tracks present on this thirteen track album.
Disadvantages: Some tracks fail to impress.

...'Ocean Avenue' is the 2004 album from the American Pop Punk band Yellowcard. Although fitting snugly into the genre of Pop Punk, the band actually incorporate a violin into their sound and this is something that makes them stand out a little from the crowd. When you listen to the music of Yellowcard it is not your standard Pop Punk affair and therefore their music is all the more interesting to listen to. The first track I ever heard from this album was 'Life of a Salesman', a track that initially put me off listening to 'Ocean Avenue' as I was not at all a fan of what I heard. With 'Life of a Salesman' there is just too much going on within the track at once and as a result it all seems a little congested as the band progress their way through this three minute piece of Pop Punk. The drums just don't seem to fit with the guitars...

Advantages: Colourful dramatic sci fi

...Fifth element is a sci fi fans dream,it tells the story of a normal guy in the future whos a down on his luck taxi driver when a female human weapon literally falls into his lap,shes beautiful practicly naked and cant speak a word of english to him,but that doesnt stop him for helping her stop the ultimate evil aka Gary oldman who makes the most wonderful bad guy. The story is fantastic as is the sound track but by far the best bit of the whole film is the part where the alien sings a upbeat opera piece which is truly fantastic,with stars like Bruce Willis Gary Oldman and Milla Jovovich you cannot fail to enjoy this fast action and colourful sci fi,its capable of being funny and sad and i would recomend it to people who have enjoyed films like Johhny meumonic and total recall,if you havnt seen this one make sure you give it a go...

...As I was flicking through the television channels before I was about to turn my light out and go to sleep last night, I saw the unmistakable beginning of The Fifth Element on ITV2. "How many times has this film been on the television in the last year?" I asked myself and "how many times have I watched it when it has been on?" Well the answer to both is - I've lost count! And did I watch it last night - simple answer yes. Luc Besson's The Fifth Element (1997) is set in the 23rd century and is unlike any other sci-fi film I have seen. ...Avenue Angling is owned by John Lambert and run by both John Lambert and Martin (don't know his surname). Avenue Angling is located up Denbeigh Road in the Golden Triangle are of Norwich. If you can't visit the shop then I know that John does mail order, Call 01603 764004 It was one of my carp fishing buddoes that got me in to Avenue Angling. The way carp fishing was going had meant that carp super markets were being opened up just like Angling Direct. The personal touch was missing and it was impossible to obtain help and advice from knowledgeable anglers, instead you get served by YTS Saturday boys that don't know the difference between a boilie and a bivvy. It is good that all products are on display in that it is possible to see the size of the bivvy and what it looks like when it is set up, feel how heavy the rod is before...

Avenue Q-uite Brilliant!

...Over the three years of the show's run, everyone I know who has been to see "Avenue Q" has told me that I should go and see it because I would love it. Everyone from best friends to ex-girlfriends were telling me the same thing, so when I got the chance to check it out, I couldn't turn it down. It certainly says something for the show that of the people I went with, four of them had seen it before and were still willing to pay £20 to see it again. It is testament to how well people know me that I not only enjoyed the show, but also would happily pay my £20 and go again. Surprisingly, for all the hype, the basic idea is a simple one. "Avenue Q" is a snap shot into the lives of a group of 20- and 30-somethings who live on a section of a street called Avenue Q. They have their own struggles, many of them have no money, their jobs...
