My Blue Light Kettle!
Review of Cordon Bleu 31026 by
jad1965
Advantages: No bits in you drink, keeps clean
Disadvantages: I can't see any
...I have owned this kettle for just over a year now, and I find it very good. I bought it from Argos for £20 which I find reasonable, mine is grey. It is a jug type with a capacity of 1.7 litres, cordless, automatic shut off and an anti calcium filter where you pour so you don't get all the 'bits' in your drink, but when you empty the ketlle completely it looks disgusting inside as it 'saves' the bits - yuk. Anyway I find it quick to boil and it lights up blue when you turn it on, so I think it looks good when you get up in the night for a drink, turn it on and there is a lovely blue light! Maybe that's just me! It is easy to keep clean and I have no problems with it whatsoever, so I would recommend it.

Cordon Bleu A Working Wifes' Dream
Review of Cordon Bleu Slow Cooker by
flooda
Advantages: Ease of use. Delicious food.
Disadvantages: None
...I recently began to use a “Cordon Bleu” slow cooker to cook meat while I am out of the house at work.
This was a Christmas present from a business associate a couple of years back, but had lain in my attic ever since, still in the box and gathering dust.
While rummaging around for the Christmas decorations, I happened across it, brought it down, and decided to give it a try.
The first good point is its simplicity. You simply add water, any stock or vegetables that you wish to use, pop in your meat, and turn on the electricity. It can be left to simmer away in safety for the whole day, and does not boil dry because of the well sealed lid.
The results are amazing. The meat seems to absorb far more of the flavour of the added ingredients, and is so tender that it practically melts in your mouth. An added bonus is that the “left over...

TOASTER
Review of Cordon Bleu 12092 by
JeffreyB
Advantages: Value for money
Disadvantages: TESTING
...*** INTRO ***
With gas prices about to rise I decided to buy myself a toaster to see if I could make a long term saving on my toast production. I checked out my Argos catalogue and ordered my Cordon Bleu 2 - slice toaster on special offer for £7.99 reduced from just under £10. The toaster comes in a sturdy cardboard box with a fitted plug and instructions for use.
*** THE PRODUCT ***
The product is simple to use and so far has presented no problems for me. It has 3 basic functions cancel, reheat and frozen bread functions. A variable browning control, removable crumb tray and a bun warmer that sits on top. I’ve yet to try the frozen bread function, reheat seems to work quite well. The toaster ejects toast automatically. The user booklet covers important safety precautions and advice on use. The product also has a replacement...

Forget the manual just throw it in
Review of Cordon Bleu Slow Cooker by
Pippy
Advantages: Cooking without the hassle
Disadvantages: If you come home early you can't cook it quicker
...My wife and I were given the Cordon Bleu Slow Cooker as a gift to aid our hectic lives. As most people do, my wife studied the receipies in the manual and paid particular attention to the pre heating instructions and cooking times. We tried several receipes and the results were very tasty. The only concern was the amount of time it took to prepare things in the morning.
The general recommendation when using slow cookers is to pre heat the crock pot and any sauces that are made from powder rather than cook in sauces. If chicken is the main ingredient cooking time is recommended to be a lot longer for obvious reasons etc etc.
My daughter was the salvation of the slow cooker when she pointed out that all she does is chop the veg the night before and throw the meat in the next morning before making the gravy mix with boiling water...

The real thing
Review of Pizza Express, Bradford, Leeds by
PaulCatterall
Advantages: eenly priced good food, excellent surroundings
Disadvantages: there aren't enough of them
...Anyone else sick and tired of the American monopoly on pizza restaurants in the UK? Pizza Express, to the uninitiated, may sound like the sort of place you would expect to find in a decaying parade of 1950's convenience stores in downtown Bradford. In actual fact, it is a rather well turned out number of establishments serving traditionally cooked Italian pizzas in an environment more conducive to a refined night out rather than a lads night in. Moreover, Pizza Express makes it possible to go out for a night in London without spending an arm and a leg on some cordon bleu portion of weightwatcher's produce!...

Filtering Has Never Been Easier!
Review of Morphy Richards 43552 by
motodoughnut
Advantages: Filters while it boils
Disadvantages: Does not hold much water
...This kettle is amazing it boils water as is filters it!
I bought this kettle when my old one broke and I decided on this one mainly because of its ‘filters as it boils’ feature. For ages I had a filtering kettle but you had to wait for the water to filter through before you could boil it and it seemed to take forever.
So I saw this kettle and thought I would give it a go.
This kettle cost me about £30 from a hardware store close to where I live, but it was in the sale, I have not had to buy replacement filters yet but I saw them in the same shop for £20 for a pack of six, but these can probably be found cheaper elsewhere.
When you buy this kettle there are a few things you have to do before you can actually use it. These are as follows.
Before you can insert the filter cartridge you have to soak it in water for about...

Kettle From Hell (or so i say)
Review of Bush KJ044 S/S JUG by
Graham182
Advantages: Heats the water faster as it is metal
Disadvantages: Kettle can burn you, also annoying filter
...This kettle isn't my own it is my girlfriend's parents. When first seeing this kettle I like the small circles as I found it an easy way of measuring the water. The shape of this kettle also is good as it isn't dumpy so it doesn't take up much room.
A big disadvantage of any kettle I get is that it is metal (though this might give it a crisper taste) because this can burn me when I'm trying to get a brew in the morning which really doesn't help my mood.
The worst thing about this kettle is the water filter that is built into the spout of the kettle as it is held on with two clips. The problem is that when you are trying to fill the kettle up from the tap, you sometime slightly hit the filter and the filter will fall into the bottom of the kettle and since it's hard to put the filter back into the clips this is just a frustrating...

Best Kettle on the Planet
Review of Brita S1915 by
wellawoo
Advantages: Filtered water every time!
Disadvantages: none
...I'm not normally the sort of person to get so excited about things like kettles but this really is a breakthrough for modern technology!
You simply fill up the top compartment from the tap and watch as it filters the water directly into your kettle. The filter works in the same way as the ordinary Brita water filters.
You can press the button to stop the water filtering when you have enough in the kettle section or you can let the whole lot filter - the choice is yours!
You then press the button to boil the kettle and stand by amazed at how quick it is. I have made visitors stand and watch this, it's so exciting! It is the fastest boiling kettle I've ever seen!
Once boiled you take the jug off the base and you could walk all over the house if you wanted! There is no lead to stop you, no lead for the kids to pull on and no lead...

Fancy a 'quick' cuppa?
Review of Morphy Richards Filter Rapide Kettle by
kingfisher111
Advantages: sleek, fast boiling, economical
Disadvantages: hard to find replacement filters.
...Our old kettle recently gave up the ghost so therefore, after looking at quite a few different filter kettles, we bought the Filter Rapide kettle from Morphy Richards.
There were a number of reasons why we chose this kettle:
*As we live in a hard water area it was important that there was a filter in order to avoid the build up of limescale. The filter on this kettle works really well and after about nine months we have no nasty traces of scale at all. It states that it removes limescale, lead and other impurities from tap water.
*Also, our last kettle had a filter but we had to wait for this to work before we could set the kettle to boil. If we forgot to fill the kettle the night before, we had a long wait for our tea in the morning! With the filter rapide you can turn the kettle on while it is still filtering.
*This kettle also...

A Brilliant Kettle, "With a Filter!"
Review of Brita Acclario Water Filter/Kettle by
Chazzer3
Advantages: Kettle and Filter in One, Safe, VERY rapid boil, Brita
Disadvantages: Can be top heavy when filtering
...We first bought this kettle for a new office part of the house that was recently built, it was around 45 pounds and the reason we got it is because it has a built in water filter. Overall this kettle turned out to be very good.
Performance = 10/10
=
This kettle performs very well; it boils 12 cups in about 30 seconds! Very speedy. It is very good at everything, the water filter is Brita’s fastest yet, and it takes a lot less time than any other Brita water filter. It also performs well at filtering; the clarity of the tea or water is instantly noticeable when the tea looks so brightly coloured. Overall the performance of this kettle is very good.
Ease of Use = 9/10
This kettle is very easy to use once you have un-packed it, the unpacking can be a bit fiddly as you have to remove the components...
