Final Fantasy X: Awesome

Advantages: Great story, graphics (for PS2), music, characters, length
Disadvantages: Not my favourite Final Fantasy, no world map, not a new game

...The Final Fantasy series, developed by Square, has achieved incredible popularity and success since the first installment on the NES. They are very influential role-playing games and have solidified this genre's place alongside others. Final Fantasy XII is the most recent release and number XIII is to be released soon for the latest generation of consoles. An interesting fact is that every FF title is set in a different world with different characters and locations. I first heard of the series during the massive marketing campaign for number VII when I was about 10 years old, but it was only once VIII was released that I got to play a Final Fantasy. I loved everything about it, the graphics, storyline, characters, music and style. I later played VII and IX which I consider equally great titles. Since then I've bought V, VI, X and XII...

Another Final Fantasy?

Advantages: Plot, graphics, characters, sound...
Disadvantages: Long - at least 40 hours, can be repetitive and tedious, license system

...I have to admit I have always been slightly addicted to the Final Fantasy games, when I have time to play them - which at the moment isn't a lot. But I've always admired the complex plots and characters which can immerse me in an entirely new world for hours at a time until I finally look at the clock and suddenly realise how long I've been playing for. But is this new addition up to scratch, to give credit it couldn't be much worse than X-2 or XI but when you bring it against some of the Final Fantasy legends such as VII or IX how does it compare. And the answer, pretty darn well. Boring but necessary Price: Amazon: £9.89 Game: £29.99 new Platform: PS2 Age: 16 Release: October 31 2006 Plot The plot for Final Fantasy XII is a completely different style from any of the other Final Fantasy games, every other...

Final Fantasy XII - Be prepared for hours of gameplay

Advantages: Long game with lots to do. Some tough enemies to catch you off guard
Disadvantages: Storyline and character interaction is a little weak

...Although Final Fantasy XII has been out for a few years now and is only available for the Playstation 2, it is still an amazing game that is worth buying. The land of Ivalice is under threat of war and it is your job to stop this. The problem is, you are a young thief from Rabanastre and changing the world isn't going to be easy. Initial Opinions The first few screens of the game are very well presented. The graphics are stunning. Without spoiling too much of the storyline, you are quickly into the game but it starts slowly due to the game showing you how to use certain functions. This does mean that the manual is not needed which is good for buying the game at a car boot sale or from eBay. Initially you play the game as Reks but then soon you are playing as someone called Vaan. This part was confusing to me, since it takes...

final fantasy????????????

Advantages: //
Disadvantages: ///

...****Final Fantasy x-2 **** Having played and completed several final fantasy games when this one came out i had to buy it. Final Fantasy games all have a story and this is no different. We get told about a world called spira and how it was "once a world of prosperity, substaned by an advanced civilisation, based on the use of machine. It then tells you about how the world has been destructed due to "sin". This is where your main character and friends come in you are civilisations only hope. woooooooo There is so much to do in this game so i am just going to talk about some of the basics (this game has easily over 40 hours worth of gameplay and you would still have loads to do) Missions - The game is made up of missions you have to complete. Depending on what order you do them in changes what bit of the game opens next...

Final Fantasy XII; simply fantastic.

Advantages: Seemingly neverending gameplay. Stunning sound and graphics. Addictive gameplay.
Disadvantages: No multiplayer functions. That's about it.

...What can I say about the Final Fantasy series of role-play games? Is it one of the most successful games series in video gaming history? Does it captivate its player from beginning to end? Does it provide almost unlimited gameplay? The answer to all those questions is a resounding yes. The very words 'final' and 'fantasy' when put in conjunction with each other are synonymous with quality, and the 12th instalment of the series (excluding the various spin-offs) is no exception. As soon as it was released, I rushed to my local store and whisked a copy of the PS2 version off the shelf. The basic story is that in the world of Ivalice, an ordinary town lad called Vaan, living in the town of Rabanastre in Dalmasca embarks on a quest with several allies to fight against the tyrranical reign of the empire of Archadia. Dalmasca (which is...

Final Fantasy XII

Advantages: Fun and enjoyable, new system brings fresh breeze
Disadvantages: Gameplay is quite complex but still fun

...I am a Final Fantasy series big fan and I've played almost all of its series. And after a long period of time waiting for its release, finally Final Fantasy XII was released for PS2. The first time I tried this game, it's a totally different feeling compared with playing other Final Fantasy series. SquareEnix made many changes in this game, the field exploration element is more real-time compared to the other FF series, the battle system is also real-time battle. There's no screen change when battle occur like other FF series. Battle just commence as players attack monsters or aggressive monsters attack players. This system is adapted from Final Fantasy XI (online). It maybe real-time battle, but the system still using the old style "active time bar" (ATB), means that characters can't perform any actions aside from moving around...

Review of Final Fantasy XII (PS2)

The perfect companion to Final Fantasy X

Advantages: Contains everything you could possibly want to know in the Final Fantasy X universe.
Disadvantages: Cannot think of any.

...As many gamers know RPGs are amongst the most expansive genres out there; spanning multiple worlds, cities and even planets. Even after completing the initial game you can spend even more time trying to explore and figure out the rest of the game's hidden secrets! Most of the time these are not so obvious to solve and so to get the best out of the game you sometimes need a little help. That is where Piggyback come in, providing an in-depth guide to all things Final Fantasy X. A very well presented, strongly bound guide that will be your companion throughout the game. At a first glance it gives detailed background information about the main characters (not to mention beautiful artwork too!), the controls for the game and detailed information about the sphere grid (your leveling up system in the game), the types of skills and magics...

How to make Final Fantasy even better!

Advantages: You can find out about all the amazing mimi-games, artwork
Disadvantages: Maps can be a bit confusing

...Final Fantasy; basically, THE first name you will hear uttered by any gamer, when asked about RPG's (role playing games). Quite simply, this is the definitive game; the game that other games aspire to be, but can never quite achieve. And there's a simple reason why?Final Fantasy has an element of magic, a way of drawing you in to the storyline and not letting you go?there is just something about the line of games that makes you sit back in your seat and think 'wow'. So here it is; the tenth instalment of the ridiculously popular line of games, and the first game made for the PS2 (PlayStation 2). Forgive me for lamenting about this game, but when I played it through the first time (oh yes, this game has serious replay value) it took my breath away. And I'm not joking. But, to truly appreciate this gem of a game, you need to know what...

THE Final Fantasy movie!!

Advantages: Graphics, Plot, Impact...top notch!
Disadvantages: Unsurprisingly...none!

...Brief Final Fantasy VII story that is the prequal to the DVD. Ive edited this as my last review took some criticism so i have taken it on board and hopefully it is better now, let me know what you think. Okay back to the brief Final Fantasy story so far. Cloud, main character in both game and movie, used to work for an organisation called Shinra as a SOLDIER. This company eventually nearly destroyed the planet through there machines to generate power. He thought against them. Sephiroth, ultimate bad guy from any gaming series, he also worked for Shinra as a first class SOLDIER. Uncovered evidance he was created from a speciman of ultimate power Jenova in a lab. Sephiroth becomes very disturbed and begins creating global havoc, Clouds path has been interwined with his from a very early stage. Cloud eventually kills Sephiroth and in...

Review of Final Fantasy 7 - Advent Children (+UMD) (DVD)

Final, Final, Final, Final Fantasy

Advantages: Excellent RPG system, fun characters, some great mini-games
Disadvantages: Odd storyline, lots of pointless stuff

...In a game series with over ten parts, this is the first sequel. Until this point, no set of characters or world has lasted longer than one Final Fantasy. For the oddly-named Final Fantasy X-2 (pronounced ten-two), Yuna from FFX returns for an all-new adventure. Well, a mostly new adventure. Same world, different look. In true Final Fantasy form, this game is huge. There are dozens of missions to complete, ranging from the silly, gimmicky ones (handing balloons out to children, learning dance steps) to the more serious (running the gauntlet in an run-and-gun style shoot 'em up mini game, digging in a harsh desert for machine parts, defending innocents from beast attacks). There are five chapters. You can visit the same towns and locations in each one, but the missions and characters change from chapter to chapter. Therefore, there are...
