Is it really a Final Fantasy?

Advantages: Amazing graphics to support a good storyline
Disadvantages: Not enough character or plot development, some poor DVD extras

...the finest Final Fantasy game ever made, largely due to it's concoction of then modern technology and graphics, a realistic yet still whimsical storyline (including what many regard as the most heartbreaking scene in video game history - more on that later on) and playability factor. On that reckoning, it may shock you to learn that I watched the film continuation of FF7 without as much picking up the joy pad to play the original game for the Playstation 1. The reason I got this DVD was because I was familiar with the basic storyline (thanks to a lot of background information from my brother) which was aided significantly with a rather handy extra on the DVD. I had however played Final Fantasy VIII, the next video game in the series, so was familiar with the basic principals that both Final Fantasy games as a whole and what this movie...

Final Fantasy VII is probably the greatest video game ever made.

Advantages: A very involving storyline and a very immersive game as a whole.
Disadvantages: Can become tedious but this isn't very likely if you immerse yourself fully.

...hit people, but you have to remember this is a GAME and is entitled to be unrealistic. The turn-based battle system is at the heart of this Final Fantasy game. This brings up the matter of encountering opponents during the game. While you'll see the two soldiers approaching you at the beginning, for the rest of the game enemies are encountered randomly. This means that whenever you are going along your way through this world, enemies will appear at any point whether you are running through the world map or enemy infested building. In games like Chrono Trigger, you can actually see the opponents and you can choose to avoid them if you wish instead of entering the battle. But in Final Fantasy, you can enter a turn-based battle at any point. You know when you've encountered an enemy because you stop and the screen swirls and goes black...

THE Final Fantasy movie!!

Advantages: Graphics, Plot, Impact...top notch!
Disadvantages: Unsurprisingly...none!

Finally Final Fantasy on Film

Advantages: Mind blowing if you liked the game
Disadvantages: Makes no sense if you haven't played the game

...could forget you are watching CGI at times, even though they still haven't got the hair quite right yet, but that is their style. It has nothing to with the first Final Fanstay film, Spirits within, which as a FF7 I was disapointed with as there was nothing to do with the game in it at all, so if you enjoyed that one, you probably will be very unhappy with this one. Will there ever be a final Fantasy?

Advantages: Epic RPG, fans will adore this game, a mass of replay value.
Disadvantages: You hate RPG? You will hate this. Graphics of the game look rather dated by today's standards.

FINAL FANTASY 7

Advantages: probably the best RPG ever

PERSONAL POINTS ok so im addicted to this game i cant get enough of it, ive been playing this since i was 7 (9 years ago) and even though ive complete it many times and done nearly all of the sidequests i still like to play it over again. this is a great RPG and if your a fan of the RPG's and you havent played this then this is THE game to play, this game was the turning point for all RPG's all other games like final fantasy 7 was always compared by it and no game ever came up close to this one. the only disadvantage i have for this game is the graphics because compared with todays graphics it isnt exactly top notch but you have to remember that this game came out nearly 10 years ago now when it first come out everyone was blown away by it so the disadvantage comes from the time of its release not the game itself...

Advantages: new abilities, very enjoyable, a game for everyone

...Never played Final Fantasy VII? No problem. Although this is a prequel to the classic PS2 role-player, loaded with fan-pleasing references, its also an engaging standalone adventure. And its massive, with a huge main story battling a rouge super soldier and his army of mutant clones - thats bolstered by over 100 side missions, like treasure hunting or helping a cowardly soldier get promoted. Like Final Fantasy XII, combat is almost real time. You run, dodge and block instantly while attacks and spells have a short delay - the stronger the moves the longer it takes. Special skills are gained by equipping Materia Crystals, found by defeating enemis or exploring. It's a deep system, and you can create new abilities by fusing materia, spending hours experiment with combinations. It's a shame, though, that you cant make changes...

Advantages: Very well thought of storyline

...I have had it for over 3 years now, and it's safe to say that I have loved it throughout that time. The story is very complex, beginning with the mercenary Cloud (whom you control for most of the game) and his journey to discover who he is while at the same time saving the planet from the evil ShinRa corporation. It's a bit complicated to explain, but there are plenty of sites that do the plot much better justice than I do here. The game is an RPG in the sense that you control a party of characters who must fight monsters and enemies in order to survive.
