...I came across an interesting site the other day. It is called www.themoneybag.co.uk and provides general tips about making money from the demutualisation of building societies and life insurance companies. Please take a look at www.themoneybag.co.uk There is also a section where you can ask a financial advisor for some help. He seems resident and is pretty good with his replies. The Motley Fool (TMF) will tell you what mortgage to get, who to trust with your savings, which credit card won't break the bank and when to by the shares that are hot. There are a number of calculator programmes, which let you feed in your own details and then give advice on the best financial products for you. But the best thing here is the myriad of message boards. My favourites include Football Fools (not exactly financial, this one); Living Below Your Means (how to get through life without spending so much money, and utilise the internet for financial ends); and the selection of literally hundreds of boards that act as forums for different stocks. ...I have got so many new ideas and opinions by reading this book. I realised the importance financial education for people in one's life. Everyone is seeking for security because of his or her fear. We work due to our financial worries. So I think to be a financially independent person is very important. The author reminds his author about the importance of financial freedom and also shows the ways how to become financially independence. In my opinion, this book is interesting and useful to seek financial freedom. The author also reminds the readers to mind our own businesses rather than other people (boss)'s business. For example, being an employee, working for other people for 40 hours a week and 8 hours a day and expecting monthly salary at the end of the month. ...My first impressions a little to much advertising and your attention is definitely attracted. There’s some good offers but if like your not interested it will be hard not to miss them. Ok, let’s get rid of the formalities it’s the leading UK internet directory for financial services (so the say) and has instant access to over 5,500 financial web sites-very impressive. So, if you financial help, advice or anything this is the site or you. It has an investment centre which offers loads of deals from fund management companies to insurance savings and calculators. Check out the Insurance centre, which allows online motor, home insurance. And there is the information service centre and advice dealing centre to cater your needs. Very impressive. My criticism is that there’s a bit to much advertisement and the bright yellow on the left... Read review

Disadvantages: It costs £6.50, quite a few adverts appear in the publication

...Money Management has the title "The Professional's Independent Adviser" and is priced at £6.50. It is a monthly publication by the Financial Times with information on a variety of different financial products. The magazine covers topics such as Mortgages, Pensions, Insurance, Investment trusts and Unit trusts. Personally I only choose to purchase this magazine once every six months because I think it is quite a steep price for a magazine at £6.50. The main reason I buy the publication is for the comprehensive data banks on Unit and Investment trusts to aid with analysis and decisions. The data banks in Money Management magazine are probably the best out of all the monthly financial magazines. The information given in these pages is wide-ranging, and offers consumers an analysis of new and existing financial products, leading to a recommendation for or against. While any decision ultimately rests with the consumer, he/she can be assured that the advice has been freely given by experts. The main interest for me is in the ongoing problem of diminishing returns on with-profits endowment mortgages. ...You would be a fool to miss out on www.fool.co.uk. The site offers a vast resource of financial articles for the novice to the experienced. Another feature of Fool, perhaps the best feature, is that of the message boards. Each board is a thriving community of messages and often very helpful members. They are monitored by Fool staff, reducing the risk of ‘pumping and dumping’ and other spam. The boards seem more useful than other financial sites, comments are generally relevant and flaming is uncommon. The boards cover most areas from individual stocks to particular industries to general questions and commons. The format is quite easy to use once you get the hang of it. A wealth of information can be extracted from these boards and can be a very helpful tool in monitoring your portfolio of interests. Definitely worth a visit... Read review

...The Motley Fool website is now well established in my list of favourites. An excellent combination of serious examination of the financial world with a humurous angle thrown in for good measure. Get involved in one of the online message board communities and throw ideas into the ring! Alternatively, move around the website for tips and articles written on a multitude of financial matters. The financial world can be fun but make no mistake - there are some very learned and astute writers who add to the quality of the site. The site can be a little regulatory in overseeing some of the meassage board posts but this has the advantage of ensuring that the messages are of reasonable quality (for example ramping shares is a strict no no!) compared to other similar web sites out there. However it is a very useful site providing you do not judge on appearances. First impression is of a site that looks cluttered with numerous banner adverts and one whose choice of colour scheme could be better. Delve deeper into the site and there is a wealth, pardon the pun, of links to financial sites for all your needs. There are nine categories, though three contain little or no information., with the main six covering banking, investment, insurance, share dealing, pensions and mortgages. ...I have visited the site on and off since it was launched and have noticed it has developed into a rounded financial website as apose to a carpet bagging based site. The site offers information on all aspects of personal finance from Life Assurance to Stocks and Shares - it even has its own IFA. Due to the site being independant they information provided is unbiased as you find on most financial web site. I particulary like the Ask the IFA section. Also worth noting that the web site address has changed from .net to .com .... Read review
