...I am the sort of person who enjoys planning for their holiday. I love researching our destination and I devour as much information as I can before I go as I find that if I am knowledgeable about a place I enjoy myself much more. Embarking on a cruise last year was my idea of heaven as it gave me ample opportunity to research lots of different places. One of our ports of call was Dubrovnik and it soon became apparent that this would be a suitable destination for an independent sightseeing tour. Advantages: a stupendous sea and an unique reception.
Disadvantages: perhaps the absence of sand-blasts to whom likes!

Review of Pula (Croatia)

Finding Neverland: such a sad film!

Advantages: Amazing and inspiring storyline.
Disadvantages: Kate Winslet is the main female role.

...Oh my this is one of the lovliest film in the world. yes Kate Winslet hasnt had the best reviews, but in this film, everything works so well together. I studied film studies at A Level, and even my 27 year old male tutor said it had him in tears every time he watched it!! I think even the hardest of people would be crying by the end credits!!! The story is based on the writer of Peter Pan, don't be mislead by the title...this isn't an interpretation on Peter Pan...its the story leading up to John Barry writing the story of Peter Pan and the experiences which lead him to write it. Finding Nemo

Advantages: Great family film!
Disadvantages: Different from other Disney films

...I loved this film. I really like the animation, it is really quite different from the animation in other Disney movies but it still has that Disney feel to it. The story is about a little clown fish called Nemo, who is caught by a diver and taken away from his father and the reef that they live on. Once caught, Nemo is taken and put in a fish tank with other fish who try to help him escape so he can return home. Nemo's father, in turn, has embarked on a journey to try to find his son with the help of a companion he finds on the way, Dory. This is a really funny film and it is really amusing seeing the colourful and hilarious characters that Nemo and his Father meet whilst trying to find each other again. Finding Nemo, a fanastic film for all of the family.

Advantages: Entertaing, Great for all Ages
Disadvantages: Parts can be a little too sad for very young kids.

...This movie was amazing. I don't know how a Disney manged to make so many people cry through a carton! My parent's male friend started crying on a Couch whilst watching this and I for one can not make it through the start til the end with out crying a bucket load. Thinking how sad, lonely and let down Nemo must have felt yet seeing him suck it all in and fight for surival whilst helping others. He called certainly be called brave at the least. And the moment when he found out everything he's Dad had done to try and find him, was just magical. I also died with laughter, whilst watching this movie. I mean the butt* as the boat and then the part where he couldn't say where he lived. Dora and the Whale talk. The turtle's 'Wooah, Dude'. Moments from this film just come back to me and make me chuckle. Defenitly worth...

Finding Nemo is a superb family film, guaranteed to entertain.

Advantages: Great for all ages
Disadvantages: could have included more soundtracks.

...Finding Nemo is a fantastic film for all the family. The visual effects are super, the storyline is easy to follow without being the least bit boring and the characters are all unique and entertaining. The comedy is simple enough to get the kids laughing out loud but is also genuinely funny for the adult viewers. Dorey's lack of memory has the audience shouting out loud to remind her of things she has forgotten and Marlin's emotional journey of accepting his son's independance almost brings tears to your eyes. The computer animation makes the film unlike a normal cartoon and pushes viewers into the realms of a realistic and intriguing journey through the ocean whilst retaining that Disney magic. An all round great family film....

Advantages: Tops out on the laughability scale
Disadvantages: still waiting for the sequel

...star, Marlin, (played by Albert Brooks) is your average clownfish who's about to become a father. But his heart is broken when the eggs are attacked and all but one survive, leaving Marlin to become an over protective father of his only son Nemo, (played by Alexander Gould) Then, years later, on Nemo's first day at school the movie begins properly with a unforeseen turn of events. Nemo is taken from his father and the movie is then all about the troubles Marlin encounters whilst trying to find and rescue his missing son. When Merlin literally bumps into a 'Blue Tang' named Dora, (played by Ellen DeGeneres), a forgetful and frankly a little dippy sort of fish, the fun really starts. As the two fish search the sea for Nemo they encounter all sorts of distractions, there meeting with some vegetarian sharks is belly achingly funny...

What Can You Find?

Advantages: Another great rhyming book for children
Disadvantages: none

...***Background*** Lynley Dodd is well known amongst parents and children for her series that features a straggly mutt called Hairy Maclary and his group of canine friends. Her clever rhymes and comical illustrations keep children amused for hours. ***The Story*** This book starts with a jungle picture with a tiger hidden behind bushes and trees. On the adjoining page is the text, "Deep in the jungle, cool and green, find me a tiger, long and lean." The book then continues with different scenes including a sandy desert, and African plain and a swampy creek. On each double page the picture is accompanied by a rhyme that incorporates the 'find me a,' section. Depending on the scene, this could be a seal, a polar bear or a frog, to name but a few. The book ends with a picture of what looks like a black cushion...
