Get the first aid Kit - QUICK! ..
Advantages: Always there when you need it.
Disadvantages: With one in your hand you are instantly an expert.
...These larger kits are suitable for large offices, factories and other places employing up to ten people in a low or medium risk environment, ot up to five employees in a high risk area.. These ratings are categorised as follows:-
Low risk - most shops, offices etc.
Moderate risk - Warehouses, assembly plants, light industry.
High risk - Factories, heavy industry .
They not only comply with H&S requirements but are also very useful, a lot of these with large workforces use the first aid kits every day.
The legislation covering first aid requirements are the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Approved Code of Practice 1997.
The kits themselves are made to be fitted to a wall, this is so they are always there when needed. Usually in a plastic box to keep them clean, they should be obvious to all who work...

Is there a First Aid trainer in the house?
Advantages: You could save a life.
Disadvantages: Potentially difficult situation you could find yourself in
...A person with a First Aid Certificate could save a life - they could also save your life too, if you in need of some assistance. Just say you were out in the street, and you saw an individual collapse in front of you. As you have had no training (although common sense does play a big part in it aswell), you would feel helpless because you had absolutely no idea as to what you had to do. Therefore, I would urge you to get on a course and get that proper training under your belt - as you never know just when you might need it! However, you will just need to remember that you are only there to support the injured person until the necessary Paramedic help is there.
What does a First Aid involve?
Well, there are short courses that usually run over the course of 1 or 2 days. These cover the basics of how much you would need to know...

Why should I learn first aid?
Advantages: You could save a life, you'll feel good, it's fun!
Disadvantages: You have to give up a little of your time
...Reasons people give for not learning first aid include:
"It will never happen to me."
"There's always someone around who knows what to do."
"I'll just call an ambulance"
Well, as a member of the ambulance service myself I can tell you that it happens to people like you every day and there is very rarely anyone who knows what they are doing. Of course, you can call an ambulance, and we'll stick our lights and sirens on and come to you, but we're only human and we can't be everywhere at once.
Now of course, my work means that I am of course going to tell you to do a first aid course but I also attended a course myself before I ever thought of joining the ambulance service, so I will base my review on those experiences too.
Essentially, first aid is all about keeping people alive until help arrives - but it is not all about...

Refreshing Eye First Aid!
Advantages: really works, neat packaging, lasts for ages
Disadvantages: expensive, can sit in creases of the eyes
...and looks a bit funny! But you really don't need a lot on anyway, and it blends in so well you can never really tell you're wearing it.
There's a handy little mirror in the compact, which is quite a good magnification, I always use it and don't look in a normal mirror when applying it. It's easy to pop in your handbag, but once it's put on, say before a night out, it doesn't slip off and you wouldn't need to keep reapplying it.
I like to wear really bright eyeshadows, and it's a good base for the eyeshadow to sit on - once I've put the lemon aid on, putting eyeshadow on over it makes it appear brighter and it stays put for longer!
Brilliant! Would definitely recommend it for first time buyers, but it's a good idea to test it out on the counter before splurging (I didn't and would've been a bit angry with myself had it not...

Is there a first aider in the house? ..
Advantages: Always there when you need it.
Disadvantages: Unfortunately, the chances are you will have to use it.
...This type of first aid kit is of the size required in an office or shop environment., or even home. A first aid kit is good, but you need a first aider to use it.
Most kits of this size and type, tend to come complete with a mounting bracket, for fixing to a wall, this ensures that they are always where you expect them to be, rather than having to look in cupboards or under piles of junk when an emergency arises.
The size is usually kids packing up box size, this is big enough to contain most of what you will possibly need, and meets the requirements of HSE for a workplace with up to five people.
Contents of a typical HSE Workplace Compliant Kit Includes :-
An advice leaflet and/or algorithm (flow chart)
3x Conforming Bandages 5cm x 4.5M
4x Conforming Bandages 7.5cm x 4.5M
2x Steropax Eyepads - sterile
3x Eyewash solution...

Just Incase...
Advantages: Could save someone's life, fun and interesting
Disadvantages: May be a bit expensive if not done by your employer
...I work primarily as a Kickboxing instructor, teaching people of all ages from age 7 upwards. This requires me to have a certain knowledge of basic first aid. This is something that my employer asked me to take part in, when I say ask I actually mean made! I had previously participated in a one day Health & Safety course which lasted a day but seemed more like a year. This had really put me off taking anymore courses even relating to health and safety.
As this course was supplied to me by my employer it was free for me to take, however if you?re planning on taking this course on your own accord then you?re looking at around an £80 price tag. Of course the things you learn on the course are priceless though so I think it?s undoubtedly worth the money.
This is just a basic first aid qualification which does not make you a qualified...

A little bit of care
Advantages: Soothing and healing
Disadvantages: None for us
...Care antiseptic first aid cream
I always like to keep some kind of antiseptic cream in the house and in the car ready for cuts and grazes.
This is basically an antiseptic cream which can be used for minor burns abrasions and nappy rash and is suitable for use on children and adults. Although it doesn?t state it on the packaging, I assume also that it can be used on cuts and grazes, so have been using it effectively of Little Miss?s knees, both of which are grazed at the moment.
The cream itself is packaged in a box with the instructions on the sides, and inside the box is, as expected, a 30g tube with a screw on/off lid. There is the usual spike on the top of the lid which I use to pierce the foil protector, and then i can get to the cream. The cream, when I squeeze it out, is white and creamy and has an antiseptic smell, whcih...

AIDS
Advantages: ..
Disadvantages: ..
...As with most other readers, (hopefully), I was shocked and saddened to hear of the incredible rise and spread of STD?s, in particular AIDS, amongst young people. What?s going on .. doesn?t anyone care anymore ..?
As a gay man who lived in London during the 1980?s, I lost more than a dozen good friends, including my closest friend to AIDS. I was one of the lucky ones. These were otherwise healthy guys from all walks of life, in their prime. The oldest was just 31 and the youngest, 19.
During those awful years, I attended more funerals than I care to remember, not just of my friends but other young victims too .. people I knew socially. I always thought of funerals as occasional sad events involving elderly family members or elderly neighbours. How wrong I was. Nothing prepares you for attending regular funerals of guys in their 20s...

Lemon-aid - not my first choice first aid!
Advantages: Dinky packaging, great idea
Disadvantages: doesn't suit drier skin, can look claggy.
...an unpleasant patchy look.
I was overall disappointed with the product, especially as i had seen some good reviews.
If you have any skin which is remotely dry i would not recommend this product, and even with normal skin, it did not live up to my expectations.
If you decide on trying this porduct, you can buy it online, and at Benefit concessions (Boots, Bentalls etc). Price is £15 for a small pot, maybe 5 grams? My recommendation is to find a mate with some and try it first before you splash out!...

First Aid for Pond fish
Advantages: It really works
Disadvantages: It can stain hands or clothing
...parasite which produces small white spots, hence the name. These spots look like grains of salt and appear firstly on the fins and gills and then the skin.
°°◦α α First unsuccessful treatment.
I first treated with Interpet Anti White spot but after a week they all looked worse and in fact one of the small new fish had died. Not only did they all still have White Spot but they were also showing signs of some sort of fungal infection which is apparently quite common. The wounds to the skin and fins following a parasitic infection like White Spot are particularly susceptible to secondary infections.
°°◦α α Second treatment
I went to a different pet shop who recommended Medizin P by Waterlife. I wish I had used this first of all because, except for my albino gold fish who was extremely...
