Get the first aid Kit - QUICK! ..
Advantages: Always there when you need it.
Disadvantages: With one in your hand you are instantly an expert.
...These larger kits are suitable for large offices, factories and other places employing up to ten people in a low or medium risk environment, ot up to five employees in a high risk area.. These ratings are categorised as follows:-
Low risk - most shops, offices etc.
Moderate risk - Warehouses, assembly plants, light industry.
High risk - Factories, heavy industry .
They not only comply with H&S requirements but are also very useful, a lot of these with large workforces use the first aid kits every day.
The legislation covering first aid requirements are the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Approved Code of Practice 1997.
The kits themselves are made to be fitted to a wall, this is so they are always there when needed. Usually in a plastic box to keep them clean, they should be obvious to all who work...

Is there a first aider in the house? ..
Advantages: Always there when you need it.
Disadvantages: Unfortunately, the chances are you will have to use it.
...This type of first aid kit is of the size required in an office or shop environment., or even home. A first aid kit is good, but you need a first aider to use it.
Most kits of this size and type, tend to come complete with a mounting bracket, for fixing to a wall, this ensures that they are always where you expect them to be, rather than having to look in cupboards or under piles of junk when an emergency arises.
The size is usually kids packing up box size, this is big enough to contain most of what you will possibly need, and meets the requirements of HSE for a workplace with up to five people.
Contents of a typical HSE Workplace Compliant Kit Includes :-
An advice leaflet and/or algorithm (flow chart)
3x Conforming Bandages 5cm x 4.5M
4x Conforming Bandages 7.5cm x 4.5M
2x Steropax Eyepads - sterile
3x Eyewash solution...

* Do it outdoors - safely! .
Advantages: Made for the job.
Disadvantages: Has to be carried.
...First aid kits for outdoor pursuits.
The problem with outdoor pursuits, is that they do tend to take place some distance from "civilisation", and as such brings with it the fact that any massistance required, is going to take some time to arrive. This is where you are going to need equipment like a good basic first aid kit, to deal with any injuries you may have.
The one illustrated is by the First Aid Warehouse, they market this one as the "The OUTABS First Aid Kit". This kit is aimed at instructors or for use in suppost vehicles, kits designed to be carried as personal issue, are a lot smaller, and easier to stow.
Contents
Box - for some reason this is coloured red, made from sturdy plastic, if a little rigid, personally I would have preferred a bag, much more comfortable when stuffed into a rucksac.
EDIT. I am...

* Get well plastered with these .
Advantages: Can save a life
Disadvantages: A little training required
...The kits like the one shown, are suitable for all sorts of uses, in homes, offices, workshops, kitchens, shops, and anywhere you need a small kit for minor accidents. Of course cars are one of the most useful places to have these, you may use it your self, of it may be of use to someone else.
If you need something for larger emergencies, or to comply with Health & Safety legislation, then you will need First aid equipment that is a little more comprehensive. In this case, try Googling :- Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Approved Code of Practice 1997. Other types of kits are available, for things like outdoor persuits etc.
These kits are made to either stow away easily, or be fitted to a wall, this is so they are always available when needed. They are normally in a plastic box to keep the contents clean...

Is there a First Aid trainer in the house?
Advantages: You could save a life.
Disadvantages: Potentially difficult situation you could find yourself in
...A person with a First Aid Certificate could save a life - they could also save your life too, if you in need of some assistance. Just say you were out in the street, and you saw an individual collapse in front of you. As you have had no training (although common sense does play a big part in it aswell), you would feel helpless because you had absolutely no idea as to what you had to do. Therefore, I would urge you to get on a course and get that proper training under your belt - as you never know just when you might need it! However, you will just need to remember that you are only there to support the injured person until the necessary Paramedic help is there.
What does a First Aid involve?
Well, there are short courses that usually run over the course of 1 or 2 days. These cover the basics of how much you would need to know...

Your vital travelling companion
Advantages: Durable bag, good selection of items, good value, easy access to all items
Disadvantages: Plasters not over sticky
...Whenever you go anywhere with a young toddler, you end up carrying around with you a huge bag full of snacks, drinks, things to amuse them and a few plasters and a million other things as well. So I decided to make my life a bit easier when I went on holiday with my family and I went off to Boots to buy a First Aid Kit, so that I knew I would have everything I needed in one place, rather than stuffing my already full-to-bursting bag with more stuff!
I picked up this particular kit in the high street chemist Boots. Boots actually do 2 types of a first aid kit. This one is a travel first aid kit, and they also do a Family sized first aid kit, which is a bit larger than this one, contains a few more bits and is double the price of this one at a hefty £19.99. After carefully finding out what was in each, I decided that this particular kit...

FIRE Extinguishers can kill . .
Advantages: Portable and compact
Disadvantages: None if used correctly.
...This review is based on my experience, and all opinions here are my own.
ADVANTAGES:-
This is dedicated equipment that stays on a bracket on the wall, is always there when needed, not a case of "where did I leave that extinguisher?"
the equipment is reasonably cheap.
It is small and compact.
It gives peace of mind.
It also complies with health & safety regulations.
DISADVANTAGES:-
The equipment may get stolen or vandalised.
It has a "use by" date, after this time, some items must be discarded and replaced, whether they have been used or not.
This may give someone a false sense of security, enough to go into a fire, or to treat someone incorrectly, when medical attention is required, wasting time and perhaps more.
The contents of the first aid kit may well be good, but require a competent first aider to use.
Combo...

First Response Ovulation Kit
Advantages: Ease of use, quick result (1-2 mins)
Disadvantages: Difficult to read
...Having been trying for a baby for several months without success, I bought this kit to try and gauge my most fertile periods. The idea is that it tells you the 3-5 day period during your cycle when you are ovulating and are, therefore, most likely to become pregnant if you have intercourse during that period. The idea is very simple, you wee on the stick and wait the alloted amount of time, and if the levels of ovulation hormone are present you will get a result. The down side is that I found it rather difficult to read. A blue line appears in one window to indicate that it has worked properly, and if you are ovulating then another blue line appears in the second window which is supposed to be either the same shade or darker than the first blue line. I got very frustrated as I wasn't ovulating (this was proved by blood tests at my...

Something we should have always with us!
Advantages: It has everything we need in case of an unfortunate event
Disadvantages: not waterproof at all
...It's an excellent first aid kit not only for us but for the rest of the group as well and it has everything we need in case of an unfortunate event (we should have one always with us in any of our outdoor activities). Before you buy this specific model make sure that you really need all these things it has on it, if not you can buy another model which it will be cheaper, smaller and of course lighter. However the only negative thing I found was that the bag was not waterproof at all. In a recent mountain day, a heavy shower damaged the first aid kit and most of the equipment that had on it. So make sure that you will put it in a waterproof bag or buy a similar product from another company that all the fist aid kit comes in a waterproof bag itself (or don't forget to take the raincover for your rucksack with you!). Furthermore make sure...

BE THE FIRST WITH A FIRST AID KIT
Advantages: You can sort out minor incidents
Disadvantages: If you go without one you could be up for a stressful holiday
...Did you know you should have at least 3 basic first aid kits? One in the house, second in the car and the third in the shed or garage if you have one. Most people are lucky enough to have a few plasters in a cupboard somewhere but they are essential to family life, whether you have a family or not. As this opinion will be posted in the travel section, I will talk about basic first aid kits and some handy extras.
All those either going on holiday abroad by plane, cruise or car should have a basic first aid kit packed in their luggage. This for a few reasons. One most obviously if something happens to yourself or someone else you can do basic first aid until the paramedics arrive. The other is that if yourself or others need certain items.. i.e plasters you dont have to go out and buy any. You will be surprised that if you do go...
