Disadvantages: Expensive, unreliable, dirty, not safe, inexperienced drivers with little English

...First Bristol is the bus service offered to those in Bristol. I don't like to write reviews without something good to say about the product. So I will make an effort with this one. There is not a sufficient alternative to using the First Buses. Abus run a few services stopping within the city of Bristol (not county which used to be Avon) Other than school runs there is: 57 - From Stockwood to the centre 349/649 - Bristol through Brislington and Keynsham back to the centre This doesn't class as enough competition to challenge First...resulting in abysmal service. Cost The maximum single price is £2 and return is £3 off peak. Weekdays before 9am it will be a maximum of £3.60 return. Now these prices aren't so bad if you live on the edge of the city and are travelling 5-7 miles. However this value for money stops if you want...

The Runaway Bus

Advantages: Frankie Howerd, Margaret Rutherford
Disadvantages: Poor quality DVD edition

...Well, what a shame, is all I can say! Okay I can say more... The original of this film I saw years ago on TV, and it was pretty good, led by Frankie Howerd in one of (if not THE) earliest performances of his career (the film was released originally in 1954). I was keen to see the film based on his being in it, and becaus eit also has Margaret Rutherford, one of my favourite actresses in also. The plot is essentially that frankie Howerd's charcter is a bus driver, and due to foggy condition, he must take a bus of air passengers via road from one airport to the next. the consequences are quite hilarious, although a few of the best scenes were unfortuately cut from the DVD version. Another note regarding the difference between the original and the DVD version is the quality of the film, which to be honest is not grat on the DVD. I...

Taxis in Barbados frankly were not cheap despite government determined fare schedules. I found it in Argos for £14.99 but it is now available for £14.50. But when My Mother in Law went to buy it was only £11 in their sale at the time, so watch out for offers like that. I have also seen them for sale in Tesco and Toys R Us. So what is this bus? It is fairly large at 33cm long and 13cm high. It is shaped like a red, single Decker bus. On one side is just pictures of people sitting at the windows on the bus with the diver at the front. The Snails on the Bus go Splhh Splhh Splhh

Advantages: Fun, Jolly and Sturdy
Disadvantages: Somewhat repetitive

Each double page spread figures a drawing of the bus, full of people of all different colours and several animals thrown in for good measure (doves, butterflies, dogs, snails, hedgehogs, bunnies and so on). The driver sits at the front, as you would expect, and on each page there is a flustered character running after the bus hoping to jump on. Luckily this bus driver is unlike most real-life bus-drivers, and actually lets these latecomers board the bus, as you can see them relaxed and smiling as you turn the page. Each verse of the story appears on one double page spread. The first verse, as you all know, tells us that the wheels of the bus go round and round, all day long. Next we find out that the wipers on the bus go swish swish swish, also all day long. After that, the horn apparently goes beep beep beep...

21 hour bus journey from HELL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: Crap customer service, moody drivers

...come and visit us and made havoc up and down the East Coast, causing road blockages and major floods in both directions. Due to this happening all buses where cancelled for about 5 days, not just Premier where affected but Greyhound as well, I appreciate that this was not their fault but the customer service I received was utterly appalling. The first day we headed down to the bus stop where we waited for 3 hours for our bus after this time we called Premier who informed the bus was delayed but could not give us an estimated arrival time and we should all back later. After another 2 hours we called back and still no news. By this point we were worried it was going to be cancelled and as more and more people were starting to get stranded in Airlie Beach we went back to the hostel to reserve a room for the night. I am so glad...

Let's All Get On "The Lilac Bus"

Advantages: Very enjoyable and easy read

...track down and watch soon! As I read the first chapter of the book which happened to be about Nancy Morris, I realised what was to come. Each chapter is about each of the individuals who travel on The Lilac Bus with the last chapter of the book dedicated to the owner of the bus, Tom FitzGerald. Each chapter is like a little story in its own right BUT the other characters on the bus are mentioned at regular intervals, some in good; some in bad ways but all making complete sense as one gets further and further into the book. Each chapter is written in such a way that at the end of it you feel that that character's story has been satisfactorily wound up, whether it be in a good or bad or sad way. At the end of the first chapter I didn't like the character any more than I did at the start of it but I understood her more and somewhat...

The Glory Bus

Advantages: Another gore feast from Laymon
Disadvantages: Too many sex scenes

...Pamela has been kidnapped by a psycho who's lusted after since her days of high school. In the desert she manages to injure and escape from Rodney the psycho, but she decides to go back and get the car keys off what she thinks is a dead body... Although Rodney isn't dead he soon will be when the mysterious Sharpe turns up and saves her. Pamela then awakes on a bus where the driver will not speak to her "while the bus is in motion - it's against company policy!" Pamela soon discovers the bus is full of mannequins and she's the only live passenger... I've read a lot of Laymon books and have mostly enjoyed them, having read so many of his books I was a little disappointed by this one where I find that he has "oversexed" the book unnecessarily in my opinion. That aside it's still an enjoyable read if you like Laymon....
