...With eldest son working in Turkey for the summer, we decided it was time for mum to go visit and spoil his fun. So, a quick surf around the various travel agents found us a great deal, leaving at the time we wanted, going to the resort we wanted, and promising a 4 star hotel for around £200 each b and b, including airport taxes and transfer fees. So... having landed in Bodrum, paid our fees to get into the country, we had about an hour journey (100km) to Altinkum and our first sighting of The First Class Hotel. It is actually situated about 10 minutes from the main promenade, and in the area where most of the hotels are situated, with shops and bars close by. An Excellent First Class Hotel

Advantages: Central Location and Efficient Friendly Staff
Disadvantages: Pricy

...We visited Sydney in January 2004 and spent three wonderful nights staying at this 5* hotel. Location ---------- The Sydney Four Seasons hotel is located overlooking the city's famous Rocks district. This gives you very easy access to the ferries which can take you to all the other resorts. It is also a short and pleasant stroll to the famous Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge. It is also close to the city's shopping and business districts. To reach the hotel from the airport there is a shuttle service for a small fee and it will take about 20-30 minutes. Avoid this Hotel! (Sorry, long review!)

...the opposite wall with one hand and the shower door with the other and swing yourself up and out, and this was positively dangerous. After a couple of goes we sussed out the technique but it was still pretty dodgy, and we're in our 20s - I wouldn't want to attempt this if I was pregnant, disabled or older. Another pain was the water in the shower and basin which was incredibly salty and made your skin and hair go really peculiar and uncomfortable, and despite making sure I kept my mouth closed I always ended up with salt water in my mouth which made me feel queasy. 2) Cleanliness (or lack of) - The majority of the downstairs of the hotel, the parts non-residents saw, were generally quite clean and smart, although the toilets were absolutely filthy. First Residence is First Class

Advantages: Unbelievably great service, opulent , great restaurants and facilities
Disadvantages: none, except it is not free so you can't just live there

...I stayed here for four nights on my honeymoon and it is absolutely the best hotel in Cairo in my opinion. Actually not just mine - travelling business class I was waiting in the check in line talking to someone who lived in Cairo checking in first class who asked me which hotel and immediately said - "oh, that's the one" when I told them this one. There are two Four Seasons Hotels in Cairo - this is the newer of the two I think. It wasn't cheap but my goodness it was outstanding. The service was like nothing I have ever experienced. Example: I was reading my book on a sun lounger by the pool - they have pool waiters for drinks, towel check people who give you a special sheet-type towel to go over your sun lounger with a pocket for the head cushion, and another towel to dry yourself with, they bring you sun cream if you ask etc etc...

...Vicks First Defence is AMAZING! The only product to actually get rid of a cold. I have used this several times now and every time it has worked. You're supposed to use it when you first feel the signs of a cold coming on, which you don't always know but I have used it mid way through a bad cold and it has cleared up. I've found I have had one bad day and then the next day my cold has dissappeared. It works by drawing the cold out of you quickly so you feel really lousy for a day but it's worth it so the cold doesn't drag on for days or even weeks! Vicks First Defence makes no claim to cure colds, or to prevent them but it does claim to reduce the chance of developing a full blown cold by up to 50% if taken promptly at the first sign of symptoms and to cut symptoms by up to 40% but each time I have used it, it has worked better...

My first holiday abroad - Hotel Duo Prague

Disadvantages: Out of town, charges for use of facilties usually free in UK 4* hotels

...Getting to the Hotel: ---------------------------- Our first mistake was in getting from the Airport to the Hotel. My other half was under the impression there was a free service, so we hopped on a minibus and got charged Kc890 which was about £25. We found out later that we could have booked with the hotel and paid Kc650 and there was a cheaper provider - one of the tour operators charged Kc550 for two people (you just rang up to book them) but if you could get in a party of 4 from the hotel it still only cost Kc650 so it pays to find someone to share! You can do this journey by bus and metro, but you have to watch out for pickpockets and this would be difficult if you also had to manage luggage, and change trains etc especially if the metro was busy. ...I recently went on a cultural girlie trip with a friend to Paris. I was left to do all the booking. I was looking for a reasonable hotel, near a metro stop, which included breakfast. I came across the Hotel International on various travel sites and it seemed fairly highly rated so I booked us in for three nights. LOCATION: The hotel is located 6 Rue Auguste Barbier in the 11th Arrondissement. The nearest Metro stop is Garcourt which was a two minute walk away and it was a five minute walk to Republique which gives good links to other lines. It's not really central enough to avoid the Metro and walk to the attractions but it was located so close to a stop that it seemed ideal. PRICE: Prices vary depending on size of room and season. There are singles, doubles and triples available. We paid Euro254 for the whole time...

...We arrived in Valencia and we unexpectedly booked ourself a hotel in a bad location. We phoned up our travel agent and explained that we wanted to move to a better location within the same price range. They arranged the EXPO hotel for us within 1 day and when we arrived we were relieved. The location for us was perfect. There was a shopping centre right next to the hotel so shopping was close by and once we managed to work out our map we realised we could walk to most locations in the centre, such as the train station from the EXPO. Walking however was not necessary as there were bus stops right outside our hotel that went to most locations including the Main beach and a metro line was also just around the corner.
