Advantages: A good thirst quencher Disadvantages: Not very complex
...mugs or straight noninck tumblers - pint or half pint - that's about it.
One of the few glasses I have in my pathetic collection is a gold rimmed, tulip shaped, flute glass which bears the Fischer logo. This was a 'gift' from a cafe in Strasbourg where I first sampled this brew.
"Mrs.P," I said, "I like this glass. I would like to have one just like it for my very own."
"That's incredibly interesting," she replied, with what I thought was the meerest hint of sarcasm, "you should buy one."
- "Steady on. I don't like it that much."
"You're a mean master." She said. At least that's what it sounded like. She says that I'm so tight-fisted that if I dropped a £1 coin, it would hit me on the back of the head.
Anyway, I've got the glass. So, when I saw a bottle of Fischers in my local supermarket, I said to Mrs.P.....you know how...

Review of Fischer Lager
Advantages: Good tasty drinking beer Disadvantages: May take a little finding
...I have previously decanted on Kronenbourg lager on these pages and have recently drooled enviously over Proxam?s unattainable French brew, La Wambrechies, (http://www.ciao.co.uk/LaWambrechiesReview5326679). In seeking solace I found a few intriguing but rather anonymous bottles of a beer from the Alsace region of France lurking on the shelves of a local supermarket. I bought one, tried it, quite liked it and went back for another to prepare this review.
THE BREWERY
Strasbourg is midway between Paris and Prague and has the reputation of being the crossroads of Europe. With Germany just across the bridge and around the next bend, this geographical nexus also probably accounts for the wide range of influences in its brewing.
?Situated in the city of Strasbourg, in the Alsace region of France, the Fischer brewery has been...

Review of Fischer Lager
Advantages: It sets the standard. Disadvantages: Try to read it as slowly as possible so it's not over too soon.
...Doctor Fischer of Geneva is a toothpaste millionaire. He invented ?Dentophil Bouquet? which claims to keep at bay the particular infections that are caused by eating chocolate.
Doctor Fisher of Geneva lives in a classical white mansion on the lakeside at Versoix with his beautiful daughter Anna-Luise. Anna-Luise thinks of her pink and white bedroom as being ?like a wedding cake.?
Doctor Fisher of Geneva holds infamous dinner parties.
Doctor Fisher?s dinner parties are ?abominable.?

Graham Greene is one of those writers that you either love or hate. He writes about the human condition, about God, about the lack of God, about faith and about love. He has written far more famous and well-respected novels and short-stories than this one and if you are interested in...
Advantages: Great for children, easy to use, no mess, cheap, effective Disadvantages: Not as good as other products that do the same thing, especially for adults.
...My boyfriend had a cold the other week, and we all know what blokes are like when they have a cold. (no offence guys) They think they are dying! He was coughing, whezzing and snezzing all ove the place. He was taking day and night nurse capsules but I was still sent into town to find some magical cure!
I was browsing the shelves in Superdrug, when this product caught my eye. I had never seen them before and because the price was so low, I decided to buy some. If they were no good, then I hadn't lost a lot of money and if they were good, then I had found a bargain. What is this product? Dr Fischer breathe easy wipes.

Advantages: Clever, compelling, funny, ultimately moving Disadvantages: Sometimes too clever by half
...Fifty years ago this week, the Hungarian uprising was enjoying a brief and heady success before being brutally suppressed. I'm reviving this review in memory of it.
In Hungary "under a frog's arse down a coalmine" is a proverbially uncomfortable place to be, and a situation well worth avoiding.
It was, nevertheless, where the country figuratively found itself as World War Two drew to a close and the Soviets moved in to install a puppet dictatorship.
The dozen years between "liberation" by the Red Army and the heroic but ill-fated anti-Communist uprising of Autumn 1956 provide the backdrop for Tibor Fischer's first and best novel, Under The Frog. The foreground is occupied by Gyuri, a young semi-professional basketball player, his team-mates, friends...
Advantages: Frenetic, ridiculous, wonderful madness. Disadvantages: Bowlists will hate it.
..., oh, and a bowl that remembers all its collectors.
There is so much going on that you will certainly need your wits about you to keep up with the plot. Much the same can be said of Fischer?s choice of words ? he?ll always opt for the obscure, the long, the antiquated and even the made up in place of the simple ? after all clarity is surely not our aim here. It is also fairly obvious that he gets rather deeply engrossed with certain words and purposefully uses them more frequently than the dictates of conventional writing advice would recommend: no bad thing at all, in my view.
This is Tibor Fischer?s third novel and is in no sense his best. Fischer is a wordsmith who certainly uses his skills with great aplomb here ? it?s like he?s taken a thousand anecdotes and somehow squeezed them into these relatively few pages to make...
Advantages: Sharply written, surprisingly insightful, unsurprisingly FUNNY! Disadvantages: The girl on the front cover actually looks like she's in some danger...
...story for any social gathering and doesn?t like sunshine (?I prefer not to enjoy it. It won?t last.?) There?s Merv the barman who used to be a war correspondent, the wonderful Audley (owner of the Dun Waitin debt collection agency) of course we already know about the glorious Juan, and there?s the somewhat quirky Azra. (Quirky? Well here?s just one example: ?Azra used to have a fear of melting butter? The prospect of butter achieving room temperature distressed her.? Do you see now?)
Amazingly to me it also ends on a remarkably positive note ? an unusual conceit for Tibor Fischer who is more known in the school of searing wit than in the college of sentimental hope. Still, to get there we will take a voyage that is ferociously calculating, acidic and scalding, fast and most of all, fun.
In my opinion in novels you can only...
Advantages: Not too expensive (unless you loose your luggage) Disadvantages: Luggage disappears
...I had a very bad experience with Fischer Air in February 2000.
First time I used Fischer Air in November 1999 to go from Malta to Prague and return. The flight was okay and not too expensive, the food was good and the cabin crew polite and helpful. The Aircraft was quite okay (Boeing 737) and flight was only a little bit late. The aircraft was full up with people, but also the space was okay.
The first bad experience came after we returned to Malta: all the luggage from about 40 people was missing! Fortunately we received it two days later from a Lufthansa flight.
As I liked Prague I returned there in February 2000 for two weeks. I used the opportunity to meet some Bulgarian friends who were returning some invested money to me.
On the flight back to Malta the Aircraft was very crowded and all the overhead luggage space was...

Review of Fischer Air
Advantages: Some great quirky, wry and innovative writing. A delightfully skewed sense of humour Disadvantages: The central character isn't terribly captivating, a poor ending
...the author (Tibor Fischer) allows us to resume this strand of the story - we are instead taken back, first to the days when Oceane did leave the house, working in a sex club in Barcelona, then to Audley's journey to war-torn Yugoslavia some years back.
It is here that the story picks up a bit, although it isn't really going anywhere - we meet a cast of generally mad characters working at the club, Babylon, and get an insight into the curious society that Oceane existed in. The writing is skillfully-crafted, often working with a wry, descriptive style to give the book its humour. By retaining a calm, unexaggerrated perspective, Fischer adds all the more amusement to the almost ridiculous situations he creates. As such, things like people being crushed by cows dropping out of the sky seem almost normal and quite acceptable to a rational mind...
Advantages: Well written; Dry humour Disadvantages: Patchy
..., and so she buys the outside world in with the help of a novel travel agent who sets up new cities and countries in the second flat she owns in the building. Strange? Yes, just a bit, but then Oceane is an odd lady (and a little bit annoying too, if truth be told).
The next big character is Audley - a debt collector who seems to inspire something in Oceane with his equally odd approach to life - and she ends up employing him to track down the source of the letters she keeps getting from her dead boyfriend.
Filling in all the gaps between this part of the story are rembrances from Barcelona, and that sex-performer life that probably got your attention in my first description of our heroine. Fischer weaves in some amusing anecdotes here, but the people seem a little stiff, and the story, although funny in its constituent parts, seems to lack...
