Baby monitor your neighbours

...We all read and hear about cot death nearly everywhere we go - it is in the papers, on billboards, everywhere... So as a new mother and reading and hearing about these sort of things, it is quite natural to want to have a bit of constant security in knowing that your baby is sleeping safe and sound in his or her cot. Therefore I bought the Fisher-Price Sounds & Lights Monitor at Babies 'R US. At the time I thought that it was a good deal at £25.00 because it claimed to do everything that I expected a good monitor to do. The Fisher-Price Sounds and Lights monitor claims to have a variable light display that lets you see the sounds the baby makes. There are 5 lights displayed on the parent's monitor which are meant to allow you to see the baby's level of activity, but, after 4 months, I am still waiting to see how this actually...

This monitor doesn't hate me!!!

Advantages: Cheap & cheerful, Good Sound Quality
Disadvantages: Operates slightly better on batteries than mains power

...This is the fourth baby monitor we have bought - 2 Tomy Walkabout range (both bought used), a new Philips Digital (reviewed elsewhere on Ciao) and now this - and our little boy is only 2 1/2!! Now, I have had trouble with monitors, if you haven't already gathered, buzzing noises from all previous, and the last one, the Philips, was just dire. But don't underestimate this Fisher Price monitor - it may be half the price of the Philips (£19.99 from Argos), but it's sound quality is crystal clear, the lights are slightly more gentle on the eyes than the red and green of the previous monitors and it picks up everything I want to hear. I read the previous reviews, but to be fair, having a toddler is not the same as having a baby.... I have got past the stage of wanting to hear his breathing, and just want to hear if he's upset...

MY EXTRA EAR

Advantages: Excellent monitor, affordable, easy to use, durable
Disadvantages: It picks up everything even neighbours conversations

Everything you need

Advantages: Cheap, easy to use.
Disadvantages: sometimes a bit too much interference

...I didnt want to splash out too much on a baby monitor and this was cheap at £20. It can be battery or mains operated and so is fully portable, the base unit has a nightlight on it although I rarely us that feature. It has two channels so you can swop if you neighbours are using the same channel as you - much like cordless phones. I find that you can get interference if either of the units are to close to mobiles, cordless phones or radios etc BUT it does pick up a lot of sound, even the drunks passing by in the street 2 floors down. We have the monitor across the room from the cot and it still picks up all of my sons little snuffles, sometimes it sounds like he is being very noisy but when I go to check on him he is hardly making any sound at all. The circle of lights light up with noise so if you are watching a noisy TV programme...

The Fisher Price is not Right.

Advantages: Nice Looking design.
Disadvantages: Risk of the chair toppling over if baby is active in any way.

...When my baby boy was born, he was never all that happy with lying on his back he liked to see what was going on around him. In hospital he was more content having the cot raised, but when I bought him home it wasn't an option to be able to raise him in his cot. So I purchased a baby bouncer chair, he was very happy to sit in his bouncer and liked to be involved in what was going on and being able to see his surroundings. Before he reached 6 months I noticed that his bouncer was not going to last him much longer, so I decided it was time to look for something to replace his bouncer chair. There are quite a few different rockers/bouncers for infants so after looking at quite a few I came across the Fisher Price linkadoo infant to toddler rocker. I have had a lot of Fisher Price products and I have always been more than happy...

The House that Fisher Price built

Advantages: Amuses children (and adults) of all ages
Disadvantages: None at all.

He has the Fisher Price Play Family fun sounds Garage and the two can quite easily be played with together which is very nice for both my children. The house actually has a kitchen and a main bedroom on one side with a lounge room, bathroom and attic/babies bedroom on the other. The furniture or accessories mentioned in the description above are a table and two chairs, a highchair, a pram, two beds and a swinging crib. Fab little baby gadget!

Advantages: Compact design and built in night light for baby!
Disadvantages: Does pick up interferance but nothing to worry about

...I got this monitor as a gift when my baby was born and to be honest I never seen the point in having one because he slept in our room at night and was by my side or in his moses basket in the livingroom through the day. Then he hit 4 months and we moved into a new house with a second floor, now this is when I realised how valuable it really was as Liam is my first child I wasn't prepared for the worrying you do when you put your child upstairs on his own at night! When I opened it I was going to read the instructions but as soon as I looked at it I realised it was so simple I didn't have to! You plug the compact base unit into a socket reasonably close to baby's cot, pull up the arial and then you have the option to put on the night light, now that's my favourite part of this product the night light doesn't automatically come on like...

fisher price kick and play why i love it

Advantages: vibrate, versatile, varied songs and sounds easy to get baby in and out of
Disadvantages: in my opinion there are no disadvantages

...In my opinion the fisher price kick and play is a great baby bouncer to purchase because in my own personal experience my 6 month old baby loves it and i have been able to use it from birth. my baby has a nap eats and plays in the bouncer so you can really get your moneys worth from this product. The sound and light arch is removable allowing you to feed baby while they stay in the chair and it also viberates which can sooth the baby and help get them to sleep. you can keep the songs on constant play or you can turn it so when baby kicks the sounds and lights flash it is so easy to get baby in and out of so if you need to put baby down for 2 minute while you quickly do something it so easy. in my opinion this is a great product to purchase....

...attention to what was on the box I was intrigued to learn it was a Fisher Price Laugh and Learn Chair. I gave Daddy the task of building it up as always, but while watching him, I realised that I could probably have done it myself quite easily. When it was all built up I have to say I thought it looked really smart. It has a little green chair which is the perfect size for a toddler and to one side there is a table with a few activities on it. There are three different modes of play - learning time, music time and fun time. This means that the activities will suit toddlers of all ages. The first time my daughter saw the chair, she was immediately attracted to it.
