Floored

Advantages: easy to wipe clean, better for asthmatic children and more hygienic than carpet
Disadvantages: shows dirt quicker than carpet and can be noisier

...My friend has recently installed a new laminate floor. He did all the work himself, it only took him two days and was a third of the cost of a carpet. I thought of many reasons for him not to do it:- 1. The room would seem colder 2. It would scratch easily as they have 3 kids and a dog 3. It would start to lift if anything was spilled 4. It would not be comfortable to sit on. 5. It would be noisy 6. It would be harder to keep looking clean 7. There would be a lot of work involved Four weeks later I take it all back. Quality Flooring

Advantages: Very quick and easy to lay
Disadvantages: Experience required for a top job!

...really wasn't difficult to put the boards together. I've found other click floors a nuisance as the boards have been tricky to fit together. The clic system is definitely superior to gluing which is much more time consuming and generally harder. Glued floors also can't be walked on until dry and usually extends ends up extending the job by a day! The boards also cut well using power tools and had tools alike. When cutting with power tools care has to be taken to avoid excessively damaging the laminated side as this sis the side you will see. The floor was quite quick to fit. I did a room approx 12ft x 12ft in about 4 hours. Beginners will take longer! The floor, if skirtings are not removed, will have to be finished by beading round the edges to cover the expansion gap. If skirtings are removed you simply re-fit them over the top...

Over the past few months I?ve tried all sorts of different floor wipes and found them all to be extremely disappointing. Until last week, however, the one I hadn?t tried was Mr. Sheen, so I bought some in a last ditch attempt to crack the problem. Here are my findings ?.. Mr. Sheen floor wipes come in a resealable plastic pack of 15 for around three quid, and they are readily available in most supermarkets. I?ve also seen them in cheaper places like Poundstretcher, where they are a little cheaper. They can be used on sealed wood, laminate, vinyl and glazed tiles. My new karndean floor

Advantages: warm, durable, practical

...Bought 20sqm of Island Limestone Alderney Karndean flooring from DirectFlooring2U, had great service and the flooring is great. I've had laminate in my kitchen before but I couldn't mop it!!!!! It drove me mad. So i went to my local retailer who showed me this stuff. Its waterproof so i'm able to mop it, they even offer a range of cleaners that i use on both my laminate and my karndean it works really well and once again my kitchen is clean. Its also really quiet when i walk on it and warm to bear foot making it much better suited to English winters. The only problem was the one i liked was the dearest of the lot and although i saved a fortune (£400) by buying online it was still expensive for a floo. But then again I did pick the dearer one. I'm now saving to get the laminate replaced in my hall and i'm telling all my friends to do...
