...Wizz floor cleaner We have lots of wooden floors in our house and although they are not laminate, i tend to try use this stuff or similar because bleach is too harsh and I like a nice fresh rather than bleach smell. WHAT IS IT? This product has apparently been specially formulated to effectively clean most types of sealed wood flooring ( so not just for laminate) and it promises to remove grease and grime with no need for rinsing afterwards. Floored

Advantages: easy to wipe clean, better for asthmatic children and more hygienic than carpet
Disadvantages: shows dirt quicker than carpet and can be noisier

...My friend has recently installed a new laminate floor. He did all the work himself, it only took him two days and was a third of the cost of a carpet. I thought of many reasons for him not to do it:- 1. The room would seem colder 2. It would scratch easily as they have 3 kids and a dog 3. It would start to lift if anything was spilled 4. Let's Kill some Floor!

Quality Flooring

Disadvantages: Experience required for a top job!

...I recently laid quick step uniclic flooring in a relatives bedroom. This is the 12th laminate floor I have laid, 6 were glued boards and 6 have been click style boards, so I'm definitely qualified to speak on the subject! Background I've listed a con as 'experience required?; this may be slightly unfair as I would say it's true of all laminate floors, especially the cheaper ones. They will only look really good if they have been fitted really well. The quick step uniclic floor is however at the higher price range of laminate floors at around 13.99 per sq metre, so I would say it is slightly more forgiving when mistakes are made. When dealing with home improvements materials I tend to stick to the old saying, "you get what you pay for". I feel I've been proved correct with laminate flooring. Over the past few months I?ve tried all sorts of different floor wipes and found them all to be extremely disappointing. Until last week, however, the one I hadn?t tried was Mr. Sheen, so I bought some in a last ditch attempt to crack the problem. Here are my findings ?.. Mr. Sheen floor wipes come in a resealable plastic pack of 15 for around three quid, and they are readily available in most supermarkets. I?ve also seen them in cheaper places like Poundstretcher, where they are a little cheaper. They can be used on sealed wood, laminate, vinyl and glazed tiles. Review of Mr Sheen Floor Wipes

My new karndean floor

Advantages: warm, durable, practical
Disadvantages: expensive

...Bought 20sqm of Island Limestone Alderney Karndean flooring from DirectFlooring2U, had great service and the flooring is great. I've had laminate in my kitchen before but I couldn't mop it!!!!! It drove me mad. So i went to my local retailer who showed me this stuff. Its waterproof so i'm able to mop it, they even offer a range of cleaners that i use on both my laminate and my karndean it works really well and once again my kitchen is clean. Its also really quiet when i walk on it and warm to bear foot making it much better suited to English winters. The only problem was the one i liked was the dearest of the lot and although i saved a fortune (£400) by buying online it was still expensive for a floo. But then again I did pick the dearer one. I'm now saving to get the laminate replaced in my hall and i'm telling all my friends to do...

Flooring Addiction!!!

Advantages: Hard wearing, beautiful finish

...Never a fan of laminate floor, I recently gave in to my husbands request that we have it in the lounge and hallway. we already have another brand in the consevatory and I hated it. However I cmpromised and agreed to have it in the lounge and hallway.... The floor itself comes in all shades and also styles.. in that you can have the 'grooves' to give the feel of natural floor boards, both horizontal and vertical grooves too, as well as 'stone' look laminate and slate. We chose a cherry finish for the lounge and once fitted with a good under lay I found it very suprising. One of my main concerns was the hollow 'click clacky' noise you get from other laminate (such as in my conservatory), however with a good underlay this prvides a solid base, and the empty click clacky noise has gone.
