Nu Flow? More Like NO Flow!

Advantages: one fantastic track and a few good ones
Disadvantages: mostly average, boring or sub-average

...I had originally been drawn to buy Big Brovaz's debut album after enjoying this r & b/garage collective's first big single "Nu Flow" and then hearing their follow-up "Favourite Things". But in the end, I felt a bit cheated by the album. Don't get me wrong, there are certainly some good songs on the album, and I'm not simply talking the songs which were actually released as singles. But there seems to be far more misses than hits, and you can't help but wonder who they are trying to appeal to. Us Brits, or the decidedly more mellow American r & b market? It is sad that the album isn't quite up to scratch as the few great tracks on the cd show so much potential that it is a shame they couldn't live up to it. New Band, Nu flow......but is it a new genre?

Advantages: Most tracks carried a story in the lyrics, Had a new sound to it.
Disadvantages: Im not sure this was the best they could have offered

Tacky Flows From The Young MC

However I didn't think that it was that it did a lot for it as it wasn't as engaging as the sort of thing we are used to when it comes to sampling in this genre. Sometime ago I saw the documentary film about Buena Vista Social Club on FilmFour; I was so captured by the music in the film that I ordered the CD album straight away from Internet.
