The Fairy
Review of Poetry by
StudieLou
Advantages: You tell me!
Disadvantages: I personally don't like it.
...I wrote this poem a couple of years ago. All the poems I had written had always been quite depressing, so I wanted to try and write one that was more cheerful, this poem is the result. I personally don't like it.
THE FAIRY
The fairy sits and watches
from the safety of the tree.
Her wings glisten in the gleaming sun,
While she listens to the humming of the bees.
The fairy's golden locks
fall onto her shoulders.
A flower in her hair
sits perfectly,
And her rosy cheeks
glow in the heat.
The fairy sits and watches
from the safety of the tree.
Her wings glisten in the gleaming sun,
While she listens to the humming of the bees.
The fairy sings a silent melody,
Humming while she rhymes.
And one by one
the other fairies join her,
Sitting softly by her side....

I believe in fairies!
Review of The Complete Book of Flower Fairies - Cicely Mary Barker by
Thehonesttruth
Advantages: -
Disadvantages: -
...Where are the fairies?
Where can we find them?
We've seen the fairy rings,
They leave behind them!
When they have danced all night,
Where do they go?
Lark, in the sky above,
Sat, do you know?
Is it a secret
No one is telling?
Why, in your garden
Surely they're dwelling!
No need for journeying,
Seeking afar:
Where there are flowers,
There fairies are.
However, if looking around your garden seems like too much trouble, you can find a wonderful selection of them in this book.
There were originally seven books in the flower fairy series, but in 1982 the publishers decided to publish an eighth, Flower fairies of the winter, so that there would be one for each season. As well as being available in this compilation edition, they are all still available as separate books.
The seven books included in this wonderful...

Two Fairytales
Review of Poems about Childhood by
INXS-Girl
Advantages: None
Disadvantages: None
...Summer Magic
"I don't believe in fairies."
He taunted, just to make her cry.
"You mustn't say that, because
Each time you do another one will die."
But he just laughed as he ran around
The garden, taunting her like brothers do.
"I don't believe in fairies, I don't, I don't,
I don't believe in silly fairies."
Later that night a little boy creeps
Out of the back door, looking
Under the flowers and leaves;
Tears falling down his cheeks.
"I'm sorry Mrs Fairy, honest I am;
But look, I had my fingers crossed.

The Rose Fairy
I know you won't believe me
But last night I saw a fairy,
Sleeping under a rose bush.
A yellow petal as her pillow
And moonbeams for her blanket.

For a lovely flowery smell as you wash up
Review of Fairy (Washing Up Liquid) by
SusanLesley
Advantages: Smells lovely, works well, good price
Disadvantages: None really
...in saying that the original green liquid was all that was available. Apparently the discerning housewife / husband now want various flavours - sorry - fragrances to choose from. So now we still have the original green version but now there are many extra fragrances such as lemon twister, lime, pink grapefruit & mint, passion flower storm, summer breeze, apple quake and more including the lovely Pink Petals. There is even an anti bacterial version to kill any germs as well!
By the way who thinks up the names of these fragrances? Surely they aren't trying to convince us that washing up is some kind of pleasurable experience?
Currently 500ml of Fairy Liquid is £1.22 at Tesco's or two for £2. There are often offers on Fairy so, if it is your favourite, it is worth stocking up when the price is low. Thinking about it I should take my own advice...

FAIRIES - all around me!!!!!
Review of House & Garden by
Hippychick54
Advantages: they don't need watering
Disadvantages: can't think of one
...My new home had just what I wanted - no lawns to cut - no plants to let die - perfect - just slabs - one great big patio - except I missed the life I had before - so I put a few pots around.......
Then I thought - well a small bed would be ok - so I built a wall in one corner of my patio and planted some of my shrubs (brought from the last house in there) after shattering and removing the slabs inside my raised bed!
But - hold on there should be a focal point! So I painted the little walls around the patio white, and the garage wall, then painted my favourite flowers onto the garage wall so I could still enjoy the colours in the winter - built a shrine with a water feature and coloured stones at the side of the garage, added fairy lights and windchimes - and I was ready..........
The fairies started to arrive just after - well, my...

Watch out for that fairy under the rosebush!
Review of Fairy Friends - Claire Freedman by
kingfisher111
Advantages: lovely poems and pictures
Disadvantages: none
...the garden flowers
In the leafy, dappled light,
The tiny friendship fairies live
Hiding out of sight.'
I think this paints a rather lovely picture and my youngest daughter was so entranced by this that she keeps going out into our garden and looking under the flowers to see whether she is able to spot some fairies too! She hasn't found one yet but she is convinced they are there!
It goes on to say that they live in a 'shimmery, secret world' and that 'their lives are extra magical as friendship lasts forever!' I hope you can see just from these small examples that this book is based on some lovely ideas and uses very descriptive and eloquent language. Throughout all the poems, the language is beautiful and there are lots of wonderful verbs and adjectives - glistening, fluttering, sparkling, sprinkling, and so on - which all seem to capture...

Fairies and Mermaids galore
Review of How to Draw Fairies and Mermaids - Fiona Watt by
danielalong
Advantages: Lovely book for fairy and mermaid mad little people!
Disadvantages: None unless you don't like them!
...entertained, and on a creative whirl.
Each double page spread is beautifully illustrated with the detailed instructions in a series of illustrated boxes. These pictorial instructions show exactly, step by step, how to complete the activity. around the boxes, and taking up the rest of the double page spread are lots of activity asppropriate pictures along with suggestions for making your fairy or mermaid even more beautiful, eg add buttons, hearts or flowers to your fairy's dress. There are little suggestions for drawing faces, and children are taught how to make the faces look up or down, and things such as making the moon look as though it is glowing. In fact, because the ideas are so simple, i have learned quite a few ideas for helping Little Miss make her fairies look as though they are flying, and other such realistic effects.
In the middle...

Heaven For Fairy Fans!
Review of Fairy Things To Make and Do (Usborne Activities) - Usborne by
neenn
Advantages: Great art and craft ideas for fairy fans!
Disadvantages: Adult help needed, only a disadvantage if you aren't willing to help
...∫∫∫ Introduction ∫∫∫
This is a great book for anyone who is ‘big’ in to fairies and wants to create lots of fairy based things. This is why I bought this book as one of my nieces perfectly fits the bill! Before I begin, I have to point out that Ciao is showing a picture of the book, ‘Fairytale Things to Make and Do’ which isn’t the title of the review.

Poppy field.
Review of Poetry by
Talk2theFeet
Advantages: If red is your colour of choice...
Disadvantages: I think the word is...amateur!
...This poem has just been inspired by my love of the colour red. Especially deep reds, like the ornaments in my bedroom! I have cunningly managed to write three verses and now I waffle on to not extend it to a fourth one, so forgive my babble. But anyway how are you? ; ) p.s you could skip this bit and go below...
Drifting through a field of poppies
There lingers the sweet fragrance of sun soaked poppies
Poppies dancing in my hair, an ode to the fairy princess
Where life was once celebrated alongside magic
Dusk darkens the poppy field
Fairies light up the zenith red flowers
Might I fly with them in the wind?
Splendour they bestow.
Time soon will call me back
But for now poppies are the reigning queens
Modestly beautiful in both light and darkness
they enchant me forever....
