An organic natural baby food

Advantages: Plastic packaging, Organic
Disadvantages: Not enough in the packet

...*no dairy, egg, wheat, lactose or gluten *no lumps or bits and nothing artificial JUST yummy organic food for babies. So this food is suitable for all babies from the age of 4 months. I personally like that it is in a plastic pouch as you know that it won't smash if dropped accidentally. When my daughter was ready for feeding I squose half the amount out of the packet (which is not alot if you have got a hungry baby on your hands) put the screw top lid back on and put it in the fridge where it can be kept for 48hrs. I warmed the food up as my baby likes her warm but you can serve it straight from the packet. The consistency of this product is very smooth if not a little runny so perfect for a young baby. It is an orange colour which I expected. I tried a spoonful myself as I always like to taste what I am feeding my...

Tommee Tippee food pots

Advantages: durable, easy to use
Disadvantages: none

...Tommee Tippee food pots are brilliant for home made baby food. They come in three different colours and are made of a strong plastic with sturdy tight lids. They come in blue, pink and purple. I bought 3 lots, 1 in each colour and use them for freezing pureed food. I make up a batch and then fill the pots and freeze them. The pots are great for travelling as the lids are so tight and you can also feed the baby directly from the pot if you want to. They are microwave and dishwasher proof. WHAT DO THEY COST? I bought mine from Asda and they cost £2.48 for 4. WOULD I RECOMMEND THEM? Yes I would. They are great while baby is on pureed food. They are small enough to carry around yet big enough to hold a meal. They can still be used as baby gets bigger, to hold fruit snacks. They are also small enough to fit...

Review of Tommee Tippee 4 Food Pots & Lids (4 Months +)

Heinz baby food

Advantages: Quick and easy if out and about
Disadvantages: Very runny, not as thick as some babies like

...Heinz baby food has been around for a long time. I have used many makes of baby food but have found that althoughs Heinz give a great choice in baby food and a wide variety. The variety of food that you get are glass jars, tins, packets of dried food and also recently added are like little tubs with platic lids which you could keep and re use. They also have an organic range which comes under heinz but the normal unorganic packets are under the name of Farley's like the milk. The variety's you can get from 4 months, are breakfast, like porridge or apricot and strawberry breakfast which are dried packets which you then add your babies usual milk too. For a savoury meal you can have, garden vegetables with chicken or a vegetarian choice can be carrots with parsnips. For a pudding you can have fruits like apple or apple...

Review of Heinz Baby Food

Yummy, Yummy, baby food

Advantages: Making your own baby food
Disadvantages: it's a messy time

..., defrost and heat up I understand if mothers are working or have more than one child then fair enough, you have enough to do without peeling, chopping and pureeing vegtables. RECIPIES Sweet potato and courgette. 3 medium sweet potatoes, 3 courgettes Peel and chop up potato. Cut ends off courgette's and chop up. In a steamer place water in the bottom pan, potatoes in the second tier and courgette in the top. Steam for about 15-20 minutes. Put sweet potato and courgette in a blender or hand held mixer with some boiled water from the kettle and blend until smooth. Fill up some cubes in an ice cube tray- this makes about 12 cubes. When your baby is hungry take out one or 2 cubes depending on how hungry your baby is defrost, heat up and feed your baby. This is for babies who are just trying out first foods, so from about 4...

Review of Baby Food

I need food!

Advantages: Healthy eating, healthy happy child.
Disadvantages: Messy?

...parents decide to introduce food at an earlier age. When to wean is a personal decision, you as a parent will know when the time is right. Signs that your baby is ready to wean *When your baby can sit up and hold their head up unsupported. *When your baby shows a keen interest in food, copying your chewing movements. during mealtimes and even trying to take some food from your plate! *When a baby's "tongue-thrust" has disappeared, this is when a baby pushes things out of their mouth. *When baby is fussy and hungry between feeds, and wakes in the night. My daughter was weaned at 4 months as that was the recommended age 12 years ago, I started weaning my son at 6 months, and I was surprised he lasted that long really as he has always been a hungry baby. Your child will usually let you know when they need more in their...

Perfect containers for baby food (Happy Mummy Baby Cubes)

Advantages: Can never loose the lids, nice size to carry with you when out & about
Disadvantages: None

...My little girl is now at that age where I am starting to introduce her to food, I have been given a brilliant book which gives me a step by step on how to do this & it gives me loads of recipes but they all make about six portions of food and I had nothing to put the extra in so I started searching the net for some containers. First port of call was eBay to see if they had anything reasonably cheap on there but no luck, there where loads of pots but by the time I added postage they worked out expensive so I next looked on Amazon and in the baby section they had a category for weaning equipment so I took a look. I came across some Happy Mummy Baby Cubes (Stage 1) and thought these looked ideal but after reading the reviews which said they only last a couple of week because you cant get much food in them I took a look at the stage 2 set...

Review of Happy Mummy Baby Cubes Food Portioners

Fantastic fast food for babies

Advantages: Convenient, good nutritionally, organic
Disadvantages: Not cheap

...We found these when we were looking for organic fruit and vegetable purees to help wean our son. We are now the best part of a year on and we still use them every week. These mixed fruit and veg purees come in a range of flavours which are incredibly unappealing to an adult palate (put it this way, the least awful is carrot, apple and parsnip) but seem to be loved by all the babies I know who have tried them. They are approx 75p-79p each, for a 120g pouch. Our son adores these purees and eats them as a snack between his main meals, an occasional pudding or part of his meal when we're out or as a "sauce" to make more challenging foods more palatable. Putting this puree on any food is pretty much a guarantee it'll be eaten. It's a great emergency meal when he's ill and won't eat anything else, with the option of having baby rice...

Review of Ella's Kitchen Organic Baby Food

Fast food for babies

Advantages: easy and healthy
Disadvantages: really colourful nappies

...I've been lucky with my baby - he will eat almost anythnig, likes texture and lumps, rarely throws up or spits anything out. I found much of this out because I resent the idea of spending 50p a meal for someone of his tiny size. Making baby food isn't as hard as it sounds. One way of doing it is to buy a food processor and process anything and everything that you eat. Fine in theory, however, you will rapidly find that your food has a good deal more salt and sugar in it than baby is supposed to have. Little one cannot have nuts, so there's no puree-ing honey nut cornflakes for breakfast, no bread products for the first few months so you can forget watching that sandwhich getting mashed, and if you cook your own tea from scratch, you may find that salt free baby cooking is more than you can bear to eat. You won't be able to offer him...

Review of Member Advice on Baby Food

Baby food with a wide variety of flavours

Advantages: Lots of variety of baby foods, my boy loves them!
Disadvantages: Not sold in most supermarkets, a bit more expensive, smaller jars than some brands

...loves all the foods and gobbles them up. He especially likes the Apricot and the prunes with apples and I found the latter really great at helping him when he was constipated. The BeechNut company has a really user friendly website which details its whole range of baby food products and lists their ingredients and a breakdown of things like protein, vitamins etc so you can see exactly what you are giving your baby. These values are also detailed on the baby food jars. The baby food jars start at stage 1 which are small jars for early weaning (approx 4 months) and goes on to the much larger stage 3 jars which are recommended from 8 months onwards. BeechNut also produce other baby foods such as a wide variety of cereals for babies, juices and finger foods for the older baby (12 months onwards). Like the other review has said...

Review of Beechnut Stages Baby Food

Baby food in a flash.

Advantages: quick and simple, lots of varietys
Disadvantages: can be more expensive than homemade food.

...I have used Heinz baby food for all of my children and will continue to do so with my new baby. Heinz do a variety of different baby foods including tins, jars and packets. There are different types of foods for different age groups. 4 months + These meals are designed to be very smooth, there are absoluely no lumps and so make it very easy to introduce your child to new flavours. 7 Months + These meals are very similar to the 4 months + foods but they do contain small lumps which incourage your child to learn to chew. 12 months + These meals are basically a normal meal "mushed" up and incourage your child to progress on to "adult" food. As well as main meals Heinz also do a huge range of desserts and baby drinks. We particulally like the fact than you can just spoon out the amount of food that you want, heat it up...
