...What! Only 10 foods? Of all the MILLIONS/ BILLIONS of food products out there we can only pick 10? Well, I suppose you'd get bored by my 100th or so one..or tenth... In no particular order; let's begin 1. Fish -Smoked Haddock, Salmon, Cod, sea bass or tuna. Haddock is delcious in a pitta bread with scrambled egg or haselback potatoes. Salmon fillet is divine if you top it with mayo, crushed seasoned cornflakes with garlic and then drizzled with a cheese sauce. Smoked salmon slices mixed into mash with cheese spread! emm. And tuna, mix it with onion and some chutney to get fish fruity. Make your own fish pie or chop it up into an omelete. Fish is sooo nutritional, versatile and delcious. Not a fan of sardines, herring; trout and the lark, or with heads and eyes still on! Prawns - league of there own. Nice just out the pack...

Vacuum sealing food the easy way

Advantages: Easy to operate
Disadvantages: It is a bit fiddly

...'crinkle' when the vacuum sucked the air out but it stayed flat and easy to store. Then I moved on the the vegetables and prepared little individual servings of veggies to last me the week. This was again very easy and, watching the demonstration of the TV they suggested that to cook the vegetables all you need to do is to snip off the corner of the bag and put a little water in and then you can put it straight into the microwave and steam them that way. I tried this but found the veg didn't taste quite the same but I also noticed that the vacuum didn't appear to have lasted in the veg packs whereas it did in the meat packs. I did a little research and discovered that there are some foods which give off gases when stored e.g. tomatoes, garlic and cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and brussel sprouts. Frozen Veg. is also good to use if you don't always have fresh. You can also use tinned Veg. although not many come in just water alone. Once your baby has tried several different foods you can then combine foods. You can add a vegetable to potato. Once your baby has tried a variety of different vegetables then you can try fruit. This can be offered instead of Veg. at a mealtime, as you are just letting your baby try the foods at first. Banana is my favourite weaning food, as this is so easy to prepare and can be taken on trips out as it's already in its own packaging. Luckily this is also one of my son's favourite foods too. ...Cool Food is a very attractive little book, it has a very pretty aqua blue spine, and the front cover has a lovely looking tuna salad on. The book is only small, 18 cm tall by 15 cm wide, but it's a thick book (400 pages in all). I like cooking, and for a while found cook books hard to resist. I fell in love with this book in Sainsburys of all places, but once I got it home the love affair dwindled. The book is divided into Starters Mains Sides Sweets Drinks Index I like the fact that there is quite a large chapter on drinks, very few books are so comprehensive in this respect. The majority of the drinks are non-alcoholic which is great for families with kids, although I'd have quite liked either a section on cocktails as this book has a lot of ideas that are great for entertaining, or suggestions by the drinks of 'you could replace...

Review of Cool Food - Murdoch Books

  Food glorious Food!

Advantages: Reasonably priced foodie magazine with lots of useful recipes
Disadvantages: Don't want to throw them away! Might put on weight if not followed wisely!

...Presents should be something the recipient would like and not just what the sender would like to receive! Although in the case of the present I am going to review it was something both parties enjoyed! My daughter and son-in-law gave me a subscription to BBC Good Food. Now she might have left home, but they do frequently come for dinner and so like to have something different to eat. This was a truly wonderful gift, the results of which have been enjoyed by my family and friends. Good Food magazine gives me lots of ideas as well as providing me with a magazine I can browse through ?to my hearts content?. That expression leads me on to say, that you can look after your heart and cook exciting meals as the recipes are all under descriptive headings! FOOD, FOOD, FOOD!!!

Disadvantages: Some unhealthy food...

...In no specific order... 1. Pasta - I love Italian food, and pasta always fills me up. I usually have it for dinner at least twice a week. Sometimes I get bored of it though, even though its my favourite food, but its best to experiment with different sauces. I prefer tomato ones though... in my opinion, cheese sauce is disgusting eww. 2. Crisps - whoever invented crisps is a legend!!! I always have a packet everyday, because they fill me up whenever I'm hungry. My favourite flavour is Salt and Vinegar. I used to like Worcester Sauce too, but they stopped making that. :( Walkers clearly rules, but so does McCoys even though this brand is high in fat. 3. Chocolate - Cadburys also clearly rules! I also like Nestle for some reason. Not too sure about white chocolate, but love milk chocolate and dark but it can taste slightly bitter...

...My list is going to seem terrible, as I am a junk food queen and I am ashamed to say... I really struggled coming up with a top ten, I mean, I like HUNDREDS of foods! But there you go, I managed to think of the TOP TEN, I could not live without... 10. CHUNKY CHIPS DIPPED IN MAYONAISSE I LOVE chips. Especially big, fat chunky chips oozing in fat, yum, yum. The best chips I have ever tasted always seem to come from the seafront at Southend, though a close second are Harvester's chips. I cannot have my chips with mayo though, I know it's awful, as mayo is so fattening but I just cannot resist it! To me, chips and mayo is the ultimate comfort food! 9.
