...What! Only 10 foods? Of all the MILLIONS/ BILLIONS of food products out there we can only pick 10? Well, I suppose you'd get bored by my 100th or so one..or tenth... In no particular order; let's begin 1. Fish -Smoked Haddock, Salmon, Cod, sea bass or tuna. Haddock is delcious in a pitta bread with scrambled egg or haselback potatoes. Salmon fillet is divine if you top it with mayo, crushed seasoned cornflakes with garlic and then drizzled with a cheese sauce. Smoked salmon slices mixed into mash with cheese spread! emm. And tuna, mix it with onion and some chutney to get fish fruity. Make your own fish pie or chop it up into an omelete. Fish is sooo nutritional, versatile and delcious. Not a fan of sardines, herring; trout and the lark, or with heads and eyes still on! Prawns - league of there own. Nice just out the pack...

...My hands get their fair share of wear and tear - washing the pots, cleaning the house, lifting heavy carrier bags - so it's only to be expected that every now and then they get a little rough and chapped and need some TLC. Luckily my mum works for Boots, and gifts me every so often with products she has purchased from the staff shop - products that are knocked down to dirt cheap prices because the packaging is a little wonky, for example . Needless to say it wasn't long before I went online and placed my order. Within a matter of days I received an email to say it had been despatched and it arrived the day after. The JML Vacuum Food Sealer isn't exactly cheap at £39.99 but it is quite robust and it is simplicity itself to use. All you do is to plug it into the mains, press two buttons on the top to release the cover and place your polybag with the edges for sealing on the machine. Close the lid, press the appropriate button for either 'seal only' or 'vacuum seal' and the machine does the rest. ...the ginger been with ginger wine' or something along those lines. Despite the book being as thick as it is, there aren't as many recipes as you might expect. Each recipe has 2 pages, one for the ingredients and method, and another for a photo of the finished product (these are really well done, the sort of picture that has you salivating, but sadly my attempts seldom live up to the pictures). I personally quite like this, but my Mum borrowed the book and was irritated by it. There are a lot of recipes and there's a really nice range. Plenty of meat-free options for veggies like me, loads and loads of fish dishes, and a lot of meat dishes too. The recipes are from all over, including Greek food, Thai food and Italian food. I thought the ice cream maker was expensive compared with mine, but it does have a spare bowl to freeze ready, so you could make two sorts in one day, which might be a very helpful solution in a bigger family. There are always articles and recipes on foods in season, although now we can buy most things all the year round, although I always think Scottish strawberries taste much better than the hard foreign produce we get at Christmas! There is a section on TV cookery which gives listings on what is on for that month, a bit about them and also for radio. Perhaps an article about someone setting up a small business with some food product, this month there was an article about various holiday places in this country and where you can buy the best cream tea and fish and chips.
