Disadvantages: Same programmes repeated over and over again

...After the Sports Channels, UK Gold is my favourite Satellite channel. From the name you would expect a lot of old repeats which would not be a hit again on terrestrial TV. However, although this is the case for some shows, many programmes on UK Gold are also shown as repeats on terrestrial TV. The following programmes show the quality and variety of UK Gold:- >DRAMAS includes BBC hit DANGERFIELD and HOLBY CITY. >STAND UP COMEDY from BEN ELTON. >FILMS like THAT RIVIERA TOUCH (I have never seen it but I am sure that it is good!) >SOAPS include re-runs of EASTENDERS and NEIGHBOURS. >The strength of UK gold is the number of good SITCOMS. These include ONLY FOOLS AND HORSES, ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS and more recently MY HERO. If this variety of programmes can not make a good television channel then I don't know what will.... Read review

Advantages: Great Comedy
Disadvantages: To much drama

...Since i first got digital Tv i've been hooked to this fantastic channel, the channel combines comedy and drama to make it most entertaining. I'm not really into drama shows but uk Gold gives a huge helping of comedy, from about 5 onwards you can see such shows as 'Allo 'Allo, Red Dwarf, Blackadder, Only Fools an Horses and many more, it submits shows from different eras, and the good thing is if you miss a show on BBC TV, you're sure to find it on UK Gold sometime. ...What can i say 'Only Fools and Horse' will always be funny with the fine performances from Nicolas Lyndhurst and David Jason. The loverble brothers and their rickerty old van. And of course Grandad and Uncle Albert Del boys a memorable character with his dodgy deals and gold jewelery while smoking his cigars. Where as you has skinny young Rodney who comes across as a bit dippy but who looks up to his big brother and his deals. And constantly putting up with Uncle Alberts tales of "When i was in the Navy"... A top British comedy that will always be good.... Read review

...Fool's gold is the movie that makes you feel that you're in one of the best vacations for 112 minutes. It has action, adventure and humor, all in equal quantities. The best thing is that they've put Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson, we know they look good in the movie How to lose a guy in ten days. Matthew plays the role of Ben "Finn" Finnegan, a treasure hunter who dedicates his whole energy trying to find 40 chests full of lost gold in the depths of the sea in the year 1715. Unfortunately this treasure hunt "helps" him lose his wife, Tess(Kate) whom he tries to win over. In this combination we have Donald Sutherland who plays the role of a billionaire who can sponsor Finn's campaign and Alexis Dzien in the role of the daughter who seems to be a pretty close relative of Kelly Bundy. ...repeats of Only Fools & Horses on UK Gold, hence the BBC must possibly also charge a premium price for this product or else they save them to fill in any vacant viewing slots when the summer and autumn schedules change over. Only Fools and Horses is great easy watching and never fails to raise at least a smile.... Read review

...UK Gold is famous for showing 'classic' programmes from British TV (mostly BBC) and for this purpose the channel is very good. For example, if you're interested in what was going on in Eastenders or The Bill between 5-10 years ago, then you can see the repeats on UK Gold every day. The reason I got the channel was to see some of my favourite comedies, such as Open All Hours, Only Fools and Horses and One Foot In The Grave. But while you obviously expect to see repeats of your favourite programmes, I didn't expect to continually see repeats of repeats! For example, if an episode of Only Fools and Horses is advertised to be on Wednesday and Thursday, then not only will the exact same episode be broadcast during the day and later in the evening, but then shown AGAIN the very next day!! This is very deceiving to those who look... Read review

...and catch the boys snooping around the house. They shoot one of the remaining boys as Fool hides and watches them in horror. Fool is desperate to find a way out of the house and he meets a young girl named Alice. Her parents are the Landlords. she explains to fool that the rule in the house is "hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil" In order to survvie in the house these rules must be followed. the people in the basement under the stairs are the people that did not follow these rules. One of the people managed to escape and has since been living in the walls. Alice likes him as she has no other friends. He parents shoot at the walls in order to kill him but have never suceeded. Alice and her friend take it upon themselves to help fool escape. Alice is punished for helping Fool and her friend is killed. Fool escapes with some gold coins. He... Read review

Advantages: Makes you jump

...My friend made my watch this whilst at her house. At first i thought it was going to be just a gory thriller, which is great, but slightly mind numbing, so image my surprise when i found out this film actually had a REAL story line! This movie has a high 'jump factor' as in it makes you jump, a lot, and i would advise watching it with someone who does not like scary films, and watch them jump and scream, it adds to the scary atmosphere! The film follows a boy called 'Fool' who has just turned 13 and lives in the ghetto. He needs to get some money so that his mother, who is dying of cancer and needs an operartion, which they can't afford, can pay off the rent, its that or get evicted. So when his sister's boyfriend, Leroy, tells him that their landlord owns a gold coin collection, which he plans to steal and sell, Fool agrees to help him... Read review

...I am an avid watcher of UK Gold and certainly would never be without it now (not to mention some of the other satellite channels). UK Gold is the type of channel which appeals to a broad range of people. There is really something for everyone! Alongside the super top quality comedy oldies such as Absolutely Fabulous, Only Fools and Horses, One Foot in The Grave, Men Behaving Badly, The Brittas Empire, you have quality drama serials (as well as the occasional one off). Drama which is well worth another watch like Lovejoy, Angels, House of Elliot, The Bill. Really top class entertainment in their day ... and still today. To keep the fans of the glossy US soaps happy UK Gold show all the old, Dynastys, Dallasses and Knotts Landings. All in all a super channel, safe for kiddies during the daytime and great to sit down to with a few... Read review

...You can always find something entertaining on UK gold when ever you tune in. I personally love all the Uk sitcoms they air and it really does remind you that there is alot of writing talent in the UK . How about One foot in the grave ,or Only fools and horses or even Keeping up appearances its worth subscribing to Sky/digital TV just to catch up on these alone. Unfortunatly Uk Gold also has the effect of sucking you into programmes best forgotten ,I made the mistake of watching and episode of Knots Landing and know I can't stop . Its also great for catching up on the old episodes of Eastenders on a Saturday when all the other channels can't be bothered to put on anything interesting. Id like to see the adverts in UK Gold style though e.g from the 70's/80's/90's all thoughs ads we loved and forgot ...I think it would be fun to watch... Read review
