Migraine just a headache?

...Migraine just a headache? I wish!! I have suffered with migraines since a young child but especially for the last 10 years , they are a complete nightmare and can take over my life. Symptoms - for me one of the first signs of a migraine is me being hungry , well not just hungry I could seriously eat a horse! Then I get flashing lights or little blobs before my eyes , I also start to feel sick and then finally the headache starts . I have learnt now to take painkillers as soon as I know a headache is on the way before the sickness kicks in. Treatment - I have tried so many different migraine prescriptions over the years but lately I find the best thing is to take soluble paracetomol , I also sometimes take metoclopramide for the sickness. If my head is thumping I will go to bed and try and sleep of course this isn`t always...

...and for about an hour afterwards I find I have a lot of tearing from the eye on the left side, the side that is being attacked. My attacks are always one sided and occur on the left side of my head. Unlike migraine sufferers Cluster headache sufferers tend not to get the sensitivity to light and sound. during some attacks I like to be in complete silence with the light off. However, occassionally during milder attacks I find having something to concentrate one like a quiet telly or music can help (well maybe not help but it doesn't hurt) I find having something else to concentrate on other than the pain can very occassionally make it feel less intense. Headache Alert!

Advantages: Nice and compact, lighter than the DS.
Disadvantages: Expensive, Headache causing becuase the screen's too bright!

Nintendo DS Lites are not designed so that you sit plugged into the TV all day, they are meant to be taken around and travelled with. Rapid relief for headache and migraines

Advantages: Easy to swallow, really do work, not too expensive and you can get them in nearly every pharmacy
Disadvantages: Can make you a little tired and you need to catch the headache right at the beginning for the best effects.

I've got a headache!

Advantages: Avoids use of drugs
Disadvantages: Makes eye water!

...keep this in my bag and use if I get a headache, I apply my4head as soon as I feel the pain, and usually it clears the pain avoiding the necessity of tablets, or worse a migraine and being sick. Previously I waited before taking tablets and then the headache took hold and it was too late! I am careful not to apply just before driving as it can affect your eyes. There have been occasions when it hasn't worked, but the majority of times I have found it has cleared the pain or really helped. A word of warning! Remember you have applied it, because once your headache disappears you forget and on holiday last summer, I went into the shower and as I washed my hair I ended up with my eyes stinging from the menthol! ...Since the past 5 years I get migraine attacks. The worst, nightmarish attack was 4 years back.
