Ford Fiesta Si 1.6 16v
Advantages: Nippy, Great looks, Reliable, Fantastic handling and Ford's best interior. Ultimate hot hatch!
Disadvantages: Can rust, similar to any Fiesta really.
...I had this is as my first car, a beautiful Ash black 16v Fiesta Si. It will forever be one of my favorite cars in the world - you get such great value for money - these car's don't hang about, their fantastic looks are absolutely timeless, the zetec engines go on forever, and like any Ford, it's easy and cheap to repair if something does go wrong! I had to sell mine due to a business venture, needing a 4x4, and as soon as I can afford to, I'm getting another one! The Si's handling is unrivalled by any car of it's age - it feels so crisp, tight and precise on every corner - even with power steering you can feel the feedback that the car is giving you when cornering - you can feel the road through it's chunky but small sports steering wheel. It's difficult to explain, but there's nothing quite like it - if you throw the little rocket into...

Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec
Advantages: A great car from all angles
Disadvantages: Not as many extras included as I would have liked
...I am now the proud owner of a ford focus 1.6 zetec and for the first time in many years I have actually found a car that pretty muc suits all my needs.
I have spent many a time in cars that are too big, too small, not suitable, not comfortable etc but this is everything I could ask for.
I own the three door version but the doors open widely and when the front seat is moved forward there is plenty of room to get anyone in the back, even my mother in law who is disabled. The back of this car is extremely spacious, comfortably fitting 3 large adults in.
The boot size is deceiving in that it looks pretty small but is very spacious indeed. Perfect for all those shopping bags as well as a childs pushchair.
The actual drive of this car is superb. Mine runs on unleaded and is very economical. I can get over 200 miles to £35...

The car is a great little run around in town, and is very easy to park. Through 1st, 2nd and 3rd it is very nippy, so is the perfect town car. However, it also holds up well on the motorway, accelerating well in...

Ford Focus 1.6 - Shocking!!
Advantages: Handling and Looks
Disadvantages: Customer Service, Bodywork, Transmission...
...Two years ago I decided to buy a brand new car, and after much research I decided upon the Ford Focus 1.6 (old style now). Everything I had read pointed towards a really good choice. So I went into my local Ford dealer and a week later I had my nice new car.
First thoughts were a good looking car, well built, fantastically smooth to drive, held the roads amazingly well. All of the equipment worked wonderfully well and I absolutley loved my new car. Then the problems began....
After two weeks the Airbag Modulator failed, so I went back to the dealer, and they replaced the faulty part within a few days. They wouldn't let me have a courtesy cat so was left hanging around the dealers for a few hours. All work was under warranty so no cost to me.
Three weeks after the Modulator fault I was washing the car and noticed tiny rust spots...

10/10 for the Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec Climate
Advantages: Big luggage compartment, Heated windscreen
Disadvantages: Nothing
...I bought my Ford Focus in August 2006. After many months of research I opted for the 1.6 zetec climate model.
As a young mother with two small children I needed plenty of room in the back and a boot large enough to carry a pushchair as well as the weekly shop, I am happy to say that this car did not disappoint.
Some other great features of this model are
-The Heated front windscreen and mirrors which save me a lot of time in the mornings.
-The CD player that comes as standard and can be controlled by a lever attached to the steering column, Sound quality is great and the speakers in the back are in the doors - so I can have the radio on without the speakers blaring down the babys ears.
-The fuel consumption is a lot better than I expected for a car of it size.
-The car is very stylish although very common...

Ford Focus 1.6
Advantages: Economical, performance, comfort
Disadvantages: Rear legroom
...A car I have the pleasure of owning. A good little practical car that has a good balance of economy and performance. I get about 40-45MPG, depending on the road's I'm driving and isn't what I'd call sluggish.
My car is the LX model that comes complete with air conditioning, which I must say doesn't have much of an affect on fuel consumption. It's a nice comfy drive with good suspension that seems to float over small bumps. Decent standard radio too that is easy to use.
Road handling in my experience with the car isn't perfect but I'm blaming this on the rubbish budget tyres that have been installed at some point before I purchased the car as I often find the car beginning to understeer in wet conditions more than my old Ford Sierra, which I thought was pretty terrible for handling in the wet but oversteer was the Sierra's main...

Ford Escort 1.6 16v Estate mkV
Advantages: Cheap to buy, cheap enough to run, cheap insurance, space.
Disadvantages: Rust, comfort and looks
...steering. The 16 valves certainly made a difference especially if you only ever owned 8 valve cars. The petrol consumption was quite good until I started getting problems 2 years later. The acceleration is quite slow at about 11 seconds but i'm sure if you try you will beat that by a second or 2. As it is an Escort 1.6 16v EFI engine, you can add upgrades to give you a bit more of a performance boost than standard. I found using Redex in petrol tank and now and again directly into combustion chambers improved performance as well as giving the pipes and engine a good clean out. Very easy to do, just remove spark plugs and pour some in through the spark plug hole, put the park plugs back but not ignition leads, start engine a few times and then connect leads(this will smoke alot for a mile or so or simply run car for a few mins on your drive...

Ford Fiesta 1.6 tdci Ghia 5dr
Advantages: Fuel Economy, Nippy, Very good handling, Build Quality, Price,
Disadvantages: New model fiesta due end 2008, so poss depreciation increase
...Bought a pre-reg 2008 57 plate with delivery miles for £9799. List of nearly 14k!!! would be a bit steep but a bargain at the price I paid! After vowing never to buy another ford 7 years ago, I test drove one of these and it was instantly sold to me. It was a three way split decision for me between this, a Seat Ibiza 1.4td ecomotive and the new 1.4d Mazda2. Seat had the fuel economy, good ride but cheap feel to the build. Mazda was fantastic ride, well built (it is on the new fiestas chassis) but underpowered. The Fiesta though, was surprisingly well built, very nippy, handled very well and came with many more toys for the price!!! Only down side is that this mark is 6 months from being changed (but this only matters to the fashion concious) But this is also a major plus as the deals you can get are far far better than the competition...

Ford Fiesta Finesse 1.25i 16V (2004 Model)
Advantages: Small and Convenient and good on the Fuel Economy
Disadvantages: A little lacking a Acceleration...but it is 1.25l
...Back in the day the Ford Fiesta was the car of choice for your first Car - you went down to your local 2nd Hand Car Dealer and found whatever rusty bucket of a Fiesta he had on show (or not to save blushes!) But this has always been an image Ford have been trying to shake off because the Fiesta is a great little car and the 2004 model takes that even further.
The Fiesta has always been a good performer with an excellent transmission, good handling and fuel economy to compete with the best in the small car category. The newest edition adds good looks and functionality to that too. It really is a looker! And larger too which makes it seem so much more spacious - well it is. The boot is enormous for a car in this category and with the back seats down you can fit a bath in!!
But lets get down to the nitty-gritty! The engine...
