Ford Focus 2.0 ESP
Advantages: Great driving, reliable car
Disadvantages: Ford service department
...I bought my Ford Focus in June 2006, second hand from Ford with 38,000 miles on the clock. The model I own is a 2.0 ESP facelift, with the revised headlights which include the indicator, revised bumpers with bump strips & revised metal flush skirts.
Now, in August 2007 the car is on the brink of hitting 70,000 miles and it literally hasn't missed a beat. The only parts that I have had to replace that are none wear and tear are the thermorstat housing seal (Ford however will try and charge you to replace the whole housing, where infact it is invariably just the rubber seal which perishes), and a n/s/f ball joint due to excessive play when being tested for an MOT, a grand total of about £50 non-expected maintenance. Not bad at all for 30,000 miles of motoring in just over a year. And as a furthur point of note, the Michelin Pilot...

The Ford Focus 2.0l Ghia (Auto)
Advantages: Almost too many to list: interior space, comfort and convenience of seats, driving position, road holding, reasonably economic, auto a dream
Disadvantages: Luggage space limited and slightly awkward shape; not greart for towing due to weight limit..
...The Focus is a great car and has been since first launched. Now available with a huge range of combinations of engine and body style. The smaller engines are reporteds to be a bit underpowered, while the 1.6 seems to be everyone's fasvourite. The review considers the 2.0l petrol auto Ghia. Chosen because I wanted an auto and did not want the slight loss of power this would mean in a smaller engine.
The auto is great in traffic and eliminates the thought of stalling. The 'down' side is that this confidence may encourage one to pull out when appraochng vehicles are rather closer than normal. But that is bad driving and not a bad car. Could do with more gears than three plus overdrive although the auto works fine in every road condition. I got a caravan after buying the car and would not have this combination as a first option...

Ford Focus Ghia 2ltr saloon. (Update 22nd May 05)
Advantages: Good all round visibility, responsive acceleration, on board computer, fold-down rear seats.
Disadvantages: difficult removal of rear headrests
...and truly hooked
The next thing I worried about was the insurance - the car being a 2 litre, so he made a quick phonecall to FordSure (Ford Insurance) and came up with a quote of £246.15 - that was nearly £100 cheaper than the Saga cover I had with my Escort. Then came the question of fuel economy on a 2 litre. The older Ford 2 litres had always proved to be somewhat thirsty.
The Focus had an on-board computer that was showing a cruising consumption of 40+ to the gallon on the test drive and if I wanted performance - boy was it quick! I was convinced. This was no Escort - in comparison it was motoring luxury. Ford had really got it together with this quirky looking motor. After the test drive, I had fallen in love with it - I just had to buy it.
Other pleasant surprises followed. I discovered the cambelt was guaranteed for up to 100...

Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec
Advantages: A great car from all angles
Disadvantages: Not as many extras included as I would have liked
...I am now the proud owner of a ford focus 1.6 zetec and for the first time in many years I have actually found a car that pretty muc suits all my needs.
I have spent many a time in cars that are too big, too small, not suitable, not comfortable etc but this is everything I could ask for.
I own the three door version but the doors open widely and when the front seat is moved forward there is plenty of room to get anyone in the back, even my mother in law who is disabled. The back of this car is extremely spacious, comfortably fitting 3 large adults in.
The boot size is deceiving in that it looks pretty small but is very spacious indeed. Perfect for all those shopping bags as well as a childs pushchair.
The actual drive of this car is superb. Mine runs on unleaded and is very economical. I can get over 200 miles to £35...

Focused driving
Advantages: Stylish, good drive
Disadvantages: Price
...and told me there is nothing they can do at present as this is a known fault with 2l Focus's. Ford are working on a fix to this problem and I will be contacted when a fix is available.
The price can be a bit high but when you see all the extras that you get (especially now you get a 3 year warranty) it seems worth it....

Ford Focus 1.6 - Shocking!!
Advantages: Handling and Looks
Disadvantages: Customer Service, Bodywork, Transmission...
...Two years ago I decided to buy a brand new car, and after much research I decided upon the Ford Focus 1.6 (old style now). Everything I had read pointed towards a really good choice. So I went into my local Ford dealer and a week later I had my nice new car.
First thoughts were a good looking car, well built, fantastically smooth to drive, held the roads amazingly well. All of the equipment worked wonderfully well and I absolutley loved my new car. Then the problems began....
After two weeks the Airbag Modulator failed, so I went back to the dealer, and they replaced the faulty part within a few days. They wouldn't let me have a courtesy cat so was left hanging around the dealers for a few hours. All work was under warranty so no cost to me.
Three weeks after the Modulator fault I was washing the car and noticed tiny rust spots...

Let's all focus.
Advantages: handling, extras
Disadvantages: now re-modeled - value may fall
...acceleration performance, sporty handling, and excellent brakes, yet give up nothing in terms of practicality. For 2003, SVT versions are available in three-door and five-door hatchback styles. (had to do a bit of reasearch to find that out!!!)
2003 Model Ford Focus
Ford Focus comes in four distinct body styles: three-door hatchback, five-door hatchback, four-door, and five-door wagon. All offer similar driving characteristics.
Three engines are available. All are 2.0-liter four-cylinder engines. The 110-hp 2.0-liter engine with a single overhead-cam and two valves per cylinder is standard on Focus LX and SE models. It's mated to a five-speed manual transaxle.
New options for the 2003 models include heated seats, heated mirrors, an MP3 audio system, a perimeter alarm system, and traction control.
AdvanceTrac is an optional system...

Ford Focus 1.6
Advantages: Economical, performance, comfort
Disadvantages: Rear legroom
...problem.
Bodywork also needs looking after to prolong it's life as rust is a problem that is common with Ford's and I've seen many Focuses being eaten away at the rear arches.
Rear legroom is a little on the tight side too....

Ford Focus Flight 1.6 16v
Advantages: Ease of use , smooth gear changes , good price
Disadvantages: None as of yet
...Thought i would write a review , since a couple of weeks ago i done something that i swore i would never do again and that was buy a new Ford Car.
About 12 years ago i purchased a Ford Escort brand new from Ford and not only was the service dreadful but the car was a complete and utter bag of nails that wouldn't have pulled you out of bed in the morning never mind away from a set of lights !!.
Anyway , have been pondering about purchasing a new car and despite liking the look of the Focus my previous experience with Ford stopped me from previously considering purchasing one.
Anyway , seen an add in a local paper for the above model , with the addition of Alloy wheels and Metallic paint as a "Special" on this edition for Scottish customers , so along i went to my local Reg Vardy dealership to have a look , very nice experience it...

Ford does it again.
Advantages: Fast, Fab sports handling, comfortable, Unique Styling
Disadvantages: Expensive on repairs
...powerful speakers.
The car comes with Thatcham Category 1 alarm with interior scan and perimeter alarm fitted as standard on the ST, remote deadlocking is also an added security feature on this model.
This car is not for the bad driver with it being in the high insurance group of 17A.
This car is the Ford of all Fords and if only I could get a drive in the Focus RS I think this car tops them all!!!...
