Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec
Advantages: A great car from all angles
Disadvantages: Not as many extras included as I would have liked
...I am now the proud owner of a ford focus 1.6 zetec and for the first time in many years I have actually found a car that pretty muc suits all my needs.
I have spent many a time in cars that are too big, too small, not suitable, not comfortable etc but this is everything I could ask for.
I own the three door version but the doors open widely and when the front seat is moved forward there is plenty of room to get anyone in the back, even my mother in law who is disabled. The back of this car is extremely spacious, comfortably fitting 3 large adults in.
The boot size is deceiving in that it looks pretty small but is very spacious indeed. Perfect for all those shopping bags as well as a childs pushchair.
The actual drive of this car is superb. Mine runs on unleaded and is very economical. I can get over 200 miles to £35...

Ford Focus TDCi 1.8 Ghia (2004)
Advantages: High MPG, Comfortable, Quite and plenty of leg room.
Disadvantages: Extra costs hidden in services
...During the second years service (2006) the dealer discovered the scuttle cover was warped and needed replacing.
New scuttle cover / pollen filter cover was fitted, and anti-bacterial spray treatment applied - the cost was over £44.00. (Removal of the scuttle destroys the seal and it has to be replaced).
As the car is less than 2 years old I suggested it should come under a warranty replacement.
The dealer said I would have to take the issue up with Ford.
This I did and the Ford customer service department stated they have no history of there being a problem with the Focus scuttle cover, the scuttle cover is part of the trim and is therefore not covered under any warrantee agreement, and they would not honour any refund to me.
I said that I have the part that was removed and would be willing to send the part to them...

Ford Focus 2.0 ESP
Advantages: Great driving, reliable car
Disadvantages: Ford service department
...I bought my Ford Focus in June 2006, second hand from Ford with 38,000 miles on the clock. The model I own is a 2.0 ESP facelift, with the revised headlights which include the indicator, revised bumpers with bump strips & revised metal flush skirts.
Now, in August 2007 the car is on the brink of hitting 70,000 miles and it literally hasn't missed a beat. The only parts that I have had to replace that are none wear and tear are the thermorstat housing seal (Ford however will try and charge you to replace the whole housing, where infact it is invariably just the rubber seal which perishes), and a n/s/f ball joint due to excessive play when being tested for an MOT, a grand total of about £50 non-expected maintenance. Not bad at all for 30,000 miles of motoring in just over a year. And as a furthur point of note, the Michelin Pilot...

Can You Feel The Ford?
Advantages: Spacious, practical, relatively cheap to run
Disadvantages: Uncomfortable seats, noisy diesel engine, turbo lag
...satellite navigation unit in the deal, which seemed nice of him except that we?ve never managed to make it show any country except Germany. He also gave Mrs B. a rather shop-soiled bunch of flowers which lasted about a day when we got them home. I wonder if the Citroen salesman would have come up with anything better.
The Galaxy is a seven-seat people carrier or MPV (multi-purpose vehicle), but I?ll stick to calling it a car, with a row of three seats in the middle. The model we bought was a 2007 2.0 TDCi Zetec, which is the middle of the three available trim levels, LX (now called Edge) being the base model and Ghia the posh one.
We bought the car over a year ago and I still haven?t quite comes to terms with the sound of the engine, but am at least used to the mild turbo lag. One of the best things about our last Galaxy was the consistent power...

Ford Kuga Zetec
Advantages: Drive quality, Looks, Handling, Fuel Economy, Boot Space ...
Disadvantages: Too minor to even write!
...Having read the rather detailed review of the Kuga on here, after buying a Kuga Zetec, I have to say that I disagree with a lot of what was said. I realise that his review was for the model up from mine, but they are the same car - just one interior is leather, the other not.
I too read a lot of good reviews about the Kuga; very few with a bad word to say about it. I can only presume he was unlucky with the car he drove. Mine is beautiful to drive.
Based on other reviews, and having owned a wonderful Fiesta, I decided to upgrade. With a budget in mind I was looking for a 2nd hand AWD (All Wheel Drive) model and luckily stumbled across one. Having been on 2 test drives around villages and on fast roads we were both very impressed and bought it.
Obviously it took time to get used to this beast having been used to a Fiesta but boy are...

Lets Focus On The Zetec...
Advantages: Spaceous, Excellent Handling, Low Insurance Group, Comfortable and Stylish.
Disadvantages: Has the family stigma attached to it which does not do it justice.
...I apologise now if I get too enthusiastic in describing this car, but I think the details will do it justice.
The Ford Focus Zetec is in the higher end of the model range and often comes with uprated extras over the base models. My particular car came with what Ford call the 'Climate Pack'. This is a handy combination of air conditioning, heated front windscreen, heated mirrors and heated washer jets. These gadgets can seldom be appreciated in the warmer months, but are an absolute Godsend in winter.
If you are looking to buy a focus, make sure you check it has the climate pack. Where most spend twenty minutes scraping ice off their windscreens on frosty winter mornings, you can simply start the engine and press the heat buttons for the front and rear windows. In just under three minutes, the ice would have melted - no more cold...

Ford Focus Tdci Zetec Estate 115BHP 2002
Advantages: Handling, MPG, Comfort, Space, Ride
Disadvantages: Stalling at low revs, steering feel, plasticky interior
...a flat-spot below 2,000 RPM before the turbo kicks-in. I understand this is a common fault that costs around £150 to remedy, or you learn to put up with it like I have.
On reaching 100,000 miles, the cambelt has been replaced (£250) and the car given a 12,000 mile service (£150 from a non-Ford garage).
So, I'd recommend the FocusTdci to anybody who wants sensible fun with low running costs, and if the ubiquity of the model doesn't bother you....

Ford Focus TDCI, Great Motoring
Advantages: Smooth, Quiet, Economical, Packed with features
Disadvantages: Ford Service Department
.... The 2.0 TDCI has a 6 speed gearbox which gives you a true overdrive gear unlike the 1.8 which only has a 5 speed box.
On the down side with this, and any other Ford, the service from ford leaves a little to be desired but for a trouble free car like this that is not a problem as you will not see the Ford dealer often after the purchase.
If you do have to take your car in for work at Ford, keep on their backs as this seems to push them into working a little quicker. If only to get rid of you....

The Ford Focus 2.0l Ghia (Auto)
Advantages: Almost too many to list: interior space, comfort and convenience of seats, driving position, road holding, reasonably economic, auto a dream
Disadvantages: Luggage space limited and slightly awkward shape; not greart for towing due to weight limit..
...The Focus is a great car and has been since first launched. Now available with a huge range of combinations of engine and body style. The smaller engines are reporteds to be a bit underpowered, while the 1.6 seems to be everyone's fasvourite. The review considers the 2.0l petrol auto Ghia. Chosen because I wanted an auto and did not want the slight loss of power this would mean in a smaller engine.
The auto is great in traffic and eliminates the thought of stalling. The 'down' side is that this confidence may encourage one to pull out when appraochng vehicles are rather closer than normal. But that is bad driving and not a bad car. Could do with more gears than three plus overdrive although the auto works fine in every road condition. I got a caravan after buying the car and would not have this combination as a first option...

10/10 for the Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec Climate
Advantages: Big luggage compartment, Heated windscreen
Disadvantages: Nothing
...I bought my Ford Focus in August 2006. After many months of research I opted for the 1.6 zetec climate model.
As a young mother with two small children I needed plenty of room in the back and a boot large enough to carry a pushchair as well as the weekly shop, I am happy to say that this car did not disappoint.
Some other great features of this model are
-The Heated front windscreen and mirrors which save me a lot of time in the mornings.
-The CD player that comes as standard and can be controlled by a lever attached to the steering column, Sound quality is great and the speakers in the back are in the doors - so I can have the radio on without the speakers blaring down the babys ears.
-The fuel consumption is a lot better than I expected for a car of it size.
-The car is very stylish although very common...
