Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec
Advantages: A great car from all angles
Disadvantages: Not as many extras included as I would have liked
...I am now the proud owner of a ford focus 1.6 zetec and for the first time in many years I have actually found a car that pretty muc suits all my needs.
I have spent many a time in cars that are too big, too small, not suitable, not comfortable etc but this is everything I could ask for.
I own the three door version but the doors open widely and when the front seat is moved forward there is plenty of room to get anyone in the back, even my mother in law who is disabled. The back of this car is extremely spacious, comfortably fitting 3 large adults in.
The boot size is deceiving in that it looks pretty small but is very spacious indeed. Perfect for all those shopping bags as well as a childs pushchair.
The actual drive of this car is superb. Mine runs on unleaded and is very economical. I can get over 200 miles to £35...

ford fusion
Advantages: practical, comfortable, good petrol economy
Disadvantages: niggly fault and rattles
...Hi,
I've owned this Fusion for almost 3 years now and will be part exchanging it soon so I thought as a final goodbye I would review it. It hasn't been a bad car but it has its faults and bad points.
I had this car from new and I chose a dark metallic grey.
The first fault developed within a coupe of weeks. It started eating CDs and wouldn?t eject them so it had to go to the garage for a new CD unit - an all day job as the whole fascia needs to come out.
The second fault was a couple of months after. The steering wheel started to peel- like a bad case of sunburn. Back to the garage it went for a new steering wheel.
Its 3rd fault was about 10 months from purchase. The electric windows stopped working in the fully open position. Luckily the dealer was open when this happened and they managed to shut them but it had to go...

Ford Fusion review
Advantages: good solid reliable car
Disadvantages: The shape is a little square and not as attractive as the fiesta
...I bought my fusion second hand with 15000 miles on the clock, since then i have clocked up a further 52000 miles mainly motorway driving as i commute to work.
I have found this car to be rugged, versatile, comfortable, economical and above all else reliable. The slightly elevated driving position gives you a sense of being in a much bigger vehicle and is equally as comfortable manouvering through the town or churning out mile after mile on the motorway.
I particularly like the amount of space in the rear of the car. The high ceiling means you get pleanty of head room and is particularly useful when you need to fold the seats down and load the car up. Also another advantage is the amount of storage you have. Clever compartments in the dash and under the seats are extremely handy. The rear seats are split (2and1) and also...

Ford Focus 1.6 - Shocking!!
Advantages: Handling and Looks
Disadvantages: Customer Service, Bodywork, Transmission...
...Two years ago I decided to buy a brand new car, and after much research I decided upon the Ford Focus 1.6 (old style now). Everything I had read pointed towards a really good choice. So I went into my local Ford dealer and a week later I had my nice new car.
First thoughts were a good looking car, well built, fantastically smooth to drive, held the roads amazingly well. All of the equipment worked wonderfully well and I absolutley loved my new car. Then the problems began....
After two weeks the Airbag Modulator failed, so I went back to the dealer, and they replaced the faulty part within a few days. They wouldn't let me have a courtesy cat so was left hanging around the dealers for a few hours. All work was under warranty so no cost to me.
Three weeks after the Modulator fault I was washing the car and noticed tiny rust spots...

Ford Focus 1.6
Advantages: Economical, performance, comfort
Disadvantages: Rear legroom
...A car I have the pleasure of owning. A good little practical car that has a good balance of economy and performance. I get about 40-45MPG, depending on the road's I'm driving and isn't what I'd call sluggish.
My car is the LX model that comes complete with air conditioning, which I must say doesn't have much of an affect on fuel consumption. It's a nice comfy drive with good suspension that seems to float over small bumps. Decent standard radio too that is easy to use.
Road handling in my experience with the car isn't perfect but I'm blaming this on the rubbish budget tyres that have been installed at some point before I purchased the car as I often find the car beginning to understeer in wet conditions more than my old Ford Sierra, which I thought was pretty terrible for handling in the wet but oversteer was the Sierra's main...

Ford focus Ghia 1.6 VVTI 2005
Advantages: Great handling, comfortable, good specification
Disadvantages: Too costly for main dealer service, noisy on motorways
...I purchased my Focus as a second car for my wife in 2006. The car was 10months old with 2,000 miles on the clock. This is my first point, please don't buy new. This model lost about 30% in 10 months!
As this was our second car, I wanted something which was good around town, cheap to run, and above all safe. Safety isn't an issue with the Focus, as it scores 5 out of 5 when tested by NCAP. The only safety issue I have is that the 1.6 does not have traction control, but to be honest for a car with 115BHP it doesn't really needed it.
Here's the selling point in my opinion, as I'm sure it's not really on it's looks. The handling on the Focus is class leading. I have a 330 CI BMW, and to be honest it is easier to drive round corners in the Focus fast than it is in the BMW, without ending up in the wrong driection. Amazing! This...

10/10 for the Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec Climate
Advantages: Big luggage compartment, Heated windscreen
Disadvantages: Nothing
...I bought my Ford Focus in August 2006. After many months of research I opted for the 1.6 zetec climate model.
As a young mother with two small children I needed plenty of room in the back and a boot large enough to carry a pushchair as well as the weekly shop, I am happy to say that this car did not disappoint.
Some other great features of this model are
-The Heated front windscreen and mirrors which save me a lot of time in the mornings.
-The CD player that comes as standard and can be controlled by a lever attached to the steering column, Sound quality is great and the speakers in the back are in the doors - so I can have the radio on without the speakers blaring down the babys ears.
-The fuel consumption is a lot better than I expected for a car of it size.
-The car is very stylish although very common...

Ford Escort 1.6 16v Estate mkV
Advantages: Cheap to buy, cheap enough to run, cheap insurance, space.
Disadvantages: Rust, comfort and looks
...I thought this was a fantastic car after moving up from a 1.3 to 1.6, the car itself is very bland even for an LX model. It is much better equipped and more comfortable than the mk 4 and slightly safer with the addition of driver airbag and better seats.
The car itself is as I stated an estate, not the best car to look at but easy to keep as it's an Escort. My one in particular was white and an L reg. It came as standard with 4 doors and hatch at back. It had standard 14" steel wheels that had 185 R14 T60 tyres on, not sure if they are standard but if you know your tyres you will know you can put almost any on as long as they are in pairs. The interior is better than the MK4 in regards to quality and looks, not so grey or brown, more of a pattern styling and softer better shaped seats. It didn't have any gadgets on it such as...

Ford Focus LX 1.6 TDCi Estate
Advantages: Comfortable, good handling, nice driving position, economical, good load carrier, 3 year warranty - no servicing required.
Disadvantages: Not a lot of "extras as standard", no ISOFIX for child seat,
...the local Ford dealer where they promptly identified that the steering rack was faulty. In this case I was just unlucky as this doesn't seem to be a common problem (according to Ford). Actual cost would have been approx £700.
One very good point, however, is that the standard 3 year Ford warranty covered a lot of areas of the car and did not require the vehicle to be serviced.
So, not a lot of problems and already that's the negative part out of the way.
Oh, I've just changed all 4 tyres as they were close to the legel limit (1.8mm - 2mm left). So, effectively they've managed about 30000 miles.
One small niggle is that when you put the fan/heater on and select the windscreen demist setting, the air con automatically comes on. You then have to switch it off if you don't want it. If the selector is left in this position, then...
