...Hi, I've owned this Fusion for almost 3 years now and will be part exchanging it soon so I thought as a final goodbye I would review it. It hasn't been a bad car but it has its faults and bad points. I had this car from new and I chose a dark metallic grey. The first fault developed within a coupe of weeks. It started eating CDs and wouldn?t eject them so it had to go to the garage for a new CD unit - an all day job as the whole fascia needs to come out. The second fault was a couple of months after. The steering wheel started to peel- like a bad case of sunburn. Back to the garage it went for a new steering wheel. Its 3rd fault was about 10 months from purchase. The electric windows stopped working in the fully open position. Luckily the dealer was open when this happened and they managed to shut them but it had to go...

Advantages: good solid reliable car
Disadvantages: The shape is a little square and not as attractive as the fiesta

...I bought my fusion second hand with 15000 miles on the clock, since then i have clocked up a further 52000 miles mainly motorway driving as i commute to work. I have found this car to be rugged, versatile, comfortable, economical and above all else reliable. The slightly elevated driving position gives you a sense of being in a much bigger vehicle and is equally as comfortable manouvering through the town or churning out mile after mile on the motorway. I particularly like the amount of space in the rear of the car. The high ceiling means you get pleanty of head room and is particularly useful when you need to fold the seats down and load the car up. Also another advantage is the amount of storage you have. ...The Fusion?s no ball of fire, but it?s happy enough in town. Both petrol engines need working hard and the 1.4 can struggle out of town, particularly when laden. The 1.4 diesel?s low-down pull makes it the easiest engine day to day, there?s also a new 1.6 diesel. The 1.4 petrol can be specified with Ford?s Durashift automatic gearbox. The Fusion is based on the Fiesta but it isn?t as good to drive. It still handles better than many superminis and it steers fluently, but the raised ride height means there?s more lean through bends and the ride is even firmer. Neither of the petrol engines is particularly smooth at high revs, a fact which is exaggerated because they need working so hard. Ford Focus 2.0 ESP

Advantages: Great driving, reliable car
Disadvantages: Ford service department

...I bought my Ford Focus in June 2006, second hand from Ford with 38,000 miles on the clock. The model I own is a 2.0 ESP facelift, with the revised headlights which include the indicator, revised bumpers with bump strips & revised metal flush skirts. Now, in August 2007 the car is on the brink of hitting 70,000 miles and it literally hasn't missed a beat. The only parts that I have had to replace that are none wear and tear are the thermorstat housing seal (Ford however will try and charge you to replace the whole housing, where infact it is invariably just the rubber seal which perishes), and a n/s/f ball joint due to excessive play when being tested for an MOT, a grand total of about £50 non-expected maintenance. Ford Focus Ghia 2ltr saloon. (Update 22nd May 05)

Advantages: Good all round visibility, responsive acceleration, on board computer, fold-down rear seats.
Disadvantages: difficult removal of rear headrests

Then came the question of fuel economy on a 2 litre. The older Ford 2 litres had always proved to be somewhat thirsty. The Focus had an on-board computer that was showing a cruising consumption of 40+ to the gallon on the test drive and if I wanted performance - boy was it quick! I was convinced.
