Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec

Advantages: A great car from all angles
Disadvantages: Not as many extras included as I would have liked

...I am now the proud owner of a ford focus 1.6 zetec and for the first time in many years I have actually found a car that pretty muc suits all my needs. I have spent many a time in cars that are too big, too small, not suitable, not comfortable etc but this is everything I could ask for. I own the three door version but the doors open widely and when the front seat is moved forward there is plenty of room to get anyone in the back, even my mother in law who is disabled. The back of this car is extremely spacious, comfortably fitting 3 large adults in. The boot size is deceiving in that it looks pretty small but is very spacious indeed. Perfect for all those shopping bags as well as a childs pushchair. The actual drive of this car is superb. Mine runs on unleaded and is very economical. I can get over 200 miles to £35...

Ford Focus 1.6 - Shocking!!

Advantages: Handling and Looks
Disadvantages: Customer Service, Bodywork, Transmission...

...Two years ago I decided to buy a brand new car, and after much research I decided upon the Ford Focus 1.6 (old style now). Everything I had read pointed towards a really good choice. So I went into my local Ford dealer and a week later I had my nice new car. First thoughts were a good looking car, well built, fantastically smooth to drive, held the roads amazingly well. All of the equipment worked wonderfully well and I absolutley loved my new car. Then the problems began.... After two weeks the Airbag Modulator failed, so I went back to the dealer, and they replaced the faulty part within a few days. They wouldn't let me have a courtesy cat so was left hanging around the dealers for a few hours. All work was under warranty so no cost to me. Three weeks after the Modulator fault I was washing the car and noticed tiny rust spots...

10/10 for the Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec Climate

...I bought my Ford Focus in August 2006. After many months of research I opted for the 1.6 zetec climate model. As a young mother with two small children I needed plenty of room in the back and a boot large enough to carry a pushchair as well as the weekly shop, I am happy to say that this car did not disappoint. Some other great features of this model are -The Heated front windscreen and mirrors which save me a lot of time in the mornings. -The CD player that comes as standard and can be controlled by a lever attached to the steering column, Sound quality is great and the speakers in the back are in the doors - so I can have the radio on without the speakers blaring down the babys ears. -The fuel consumption is a lot better than I expected for a car of it size. -The car is very stylish although very common...

Ford Focus Flight 1.6 16v

Advantages: Ease of use , smooth gear changes , good price
Disadvantages: None as of yet

...plus Ford give you 1 weeks Free Insurance with the car to allow you to sort out your own insurance (Ford did quote as well , over £300 more than i currently pay !!!). Great value for money and in the short time i've had it a pleasure to drive....

...A car I have the pleasure of owning. A good little practical car that has a good balance of economy and performance. I get about 40-45MPG, depending on the road's I'm driving and isn't what I'd call sluggish. My car is the LX model that comes complete with air conditioning, which I must say doesn't have much of an affect on fuel consumption. It's a nice comfy drive with good suspension that seems to float over small bumps. Decent standard radio too that is easy to use. Road handling in my experience with the car isn't perfect but I'm blaming this on the rubbish budget tyres that have been installed at some point before I purchased the car as I often find the car beginning to understeer in wet conditions more than my old Ford Sierra, which I thought was pretty terrible for handling in the wet but oversteer was the Sierra's main...

Focus 1.6 - A fun stylish serious car.

Advantages: Comfortable, spacious for passengers, driver and lugage. Nippy and stylish.
Disadvantages: Its not the ST170 and its not the RS.

...My 1.6 is one of the late early 2001 models and it is a pleasure to drive it was second hand and had two previous owners, I'm not sure how they treated it but when I picked it up it was in pristine condition which to me says that it is a fairly hardwearing car. Its smooth lines and contours make for a slightly sporty look as well as the memories of the Rally focus in all its glory tearing up the WRC. It is a very smooth ride with fantastic handling so if you are a little heavy on the peddle it has the strength to compensate. Acceleration is good and you through the range of the 5 speed gear box, and at the other end of the scale the brakes are hot too mine only has discs on the front and Drums on the back but there is plenty there to slow down the 125 horses that kick out of the engine. ...Driving this car today for the first time, I must say that it is a very good car. This car has a few extras some which are good and some that you could do without but I will explain that in more detail later on in the review. This car is very popular so the style must be good, as a lot of people have decided to buy this car. This cars handling is very good and drivers smoothly at slow speeds and really sticks to the road well at fast speeds. The power steering makes the car very easy to drive and parking can easily be done with one hand. I found this very good. This comes in a cheap insurance group for the1.6 engine. Interior CD player as standard, this is a good sound system with 6 speakers and can really do the job if you want to listen to some loud music, it has a handy control column behind the steering wheel...

...I purchased my Focus as a second car for my wife in 2006. The car was 10months old with 2,000 miles on the clock. This is my first point, please don't buy new. This model lost about 30% in 10 months! As this was our second car, I wanted something which was good around town, cheap to run, and above all safe. Safety isn't an issue with the Focus, as it scores 5 out of 5 when tested by NCAP. The only safety issue I have is that the 1.6 does not have traction control, but to be honest for a car with 115BHP it doesn't really needed it. Here's the selling point in my opinion, as I'm sure it's not really on it's looks. The handling on the Focus is class leading. I have a 330 CI BMW, and to be honest it is easier to drive round corners in the Focus fast than it is in the BMW, without ending up in the wrong driection. Amazing! This...

...I always said I wouldn't touch any Ford with a barge pole. That was until I was looking for a new car recently. For the money I had to spend (around 10,000GBP) it was a question of balancing getting a nearly new car against a couple of years old car which would have had a higher list price when new.
